Nexus mods cost money? I thought they were free.
So your local supermarket shuts down people will just starve?
I know. Just like you don’t have to pay to use winzip. Just find it funny when companies monetize free stuff.
Other places would pop up, and probably be better. Fuck Nexus Mods.So you hope there's nowhere for PC gamers to get their mods?
Because that's the situation that would arise.
You can donate to creators, but at this rate, they might lock it all down to paid sub or something, at some point.Nexus mods cost money? I thought they were free.
You do know there are other sites that also hosts mods right?Other supermarkets and stores already exist.

You don't even need a proper site, you can just put your stuff on github.
There is no other centralised user friendly website to get mods from.
Because one already exists and there is no need for another one.If that were the case then they would have already and they would have become more popular given the recent controversies surrounding nexus.

As much as people don't want to admit it, there are reasons why nexus is so popular and remains so.
Because you keep talking about ModDB to be better platform and hosting better mods. It’s a different platform, not a better one.And why exactly you decided to quote me and tell me this? It has nothing to do with what i said.
Because of your windows95man avatarHaha, my Y2245.2 haplogroup has some association with Finland, but no I'm German. Why do you ask?
I didn't say it was the better platform either, just that it had better mods in general. When you consider it hosts multiple total conversion mods including some that work as standalone games as well as many many gameplay overhauls, compared to Nexus where it does have a lot more mods but 90% of them are just small to medium tweaks to gameplay or/and visuals, you can't really argue against it.Because you keep talking about ModDB to be better platform and hosting better mods. “I didn't say it had more, i said it had better mods with a lot more effort put into them.”
I haven’t been using ModDB too much but Nexus hosts major overhauls for at least Bethesda games. That said, it’s good to have a number of sites providing these services so no one site can dictate terms.I didn't say it was the better platform either, just that it had better mods in general. For all of its faults, there's no site doing it like Nexus. Maybe for smaller games, but not the big ones. The API that mod managers hook into alone is huge. There is no other centralised user friendly website to get mods from. ModDB is a mess to use even by the standards of the time it was designed let alone more modern code. It has good content, but I'm glad people don't rely on it for more than the odd few things.Games and mods development for Windows, Linux and Mac
ModDB covers game development and modding on Windows, Mac and Linux with downloads of the best user generated content.www.moddb.comSteam Community :: Steam Workshop
steamcommunity.com
There are also tons of sites specialized for certain games like DOOM or Infinity engine games
I don't have much issue with it really. That said its true Steam Workshop is the best one by a mile, it's only set back is how it only works for steam games.ModDB is a mess to use even by the standards of the time it was designed let alone more modern code. Steam Community is better because it at least has some effort that's gone into it, but it still doesn't hold a candle to Nexus.
That's not how things work. It needs to disappear for good before people put the effort in to create something new and users put in the effort to use something new. When twitter was owned by the woke, the anti-woke said they were gonna start their own and then when Elon bought it, all the woke people said they were gonna quit and yet nobody went anywhere, everybody stayed and is still there. If that were the case then they would have already and they would have become more popular given the recent controversies surrounding nexus.
It’s a useful service if you want to grab a Wabbajack or Nexus collection and do auto download, but that’s about it.
Maybe so, but for an end user they are a huge time saver. It’s potentially saving days worth of time. Most of us mod authors hate those bulk downloaders.
The biggest mod I ever downloaded was like 1.5 gigabyte.i thought the site was free, been on there since maybe 2007 and haven't spent a dime
So you hope there's nowhere for PC gamers to get their mods?

When did Nexus get rid of body replacement/nude mods? It used to be full of them and I thought it was weird that there were no body replacement mods for Starfield. I am not seeing them for Fallout 4 or Skyrim either.
Hosting and distributing content is crazy expensive. You have no clue.This. Fuck Nexus. Others will fill the gap quickly, it's not rocket science to get a mods community up and running.

It is, you can just pay to get priority/faster downloads.
Yep, I sub for a month when I want to mess around with Wabbajack and then unsub. Saves many hours of effort. While i don't like the price hike, it still is the best modding site around so gonna have to do.
Wabbajack is unusable without a premium sub lol.
who cares why would any dummy pay for this?It is free BUT...
Download speed is capped if using free account.
Free:
~1,5MB/s with adblocker activated.
~3,0MB/s with adblock deactivated.
Premium:
"Unlimited" download speed if paying for premium.
Also you can use wabbajack modlist 1 click install full modlist configuration.
Very true, I bought a Sirius XM lifetime subscription for my car for 400 dollars and I have been using it for 13 years.I bought lifetime premium about a year before they made it available only to "mod authors who hit a threshold of unique downloads each month" and/or "mod authors via the Donation Points store". If there's ever something you use on a semi-regular basis and it has a (non-crazy-priced) lifetime option, you should almost always jump on it. Those never last, and subscriptions suck butt.
