Coughlin on Tryon playing with the broken arm during his presser:

"A guy with a broken arm made the play that sometimes goes unnoticed but the gunners in that situation have not always come through for us but this kid did," Coughlin said. "The thing that I appreciated and I was standing close by, as the doctors were showing him and talking to him about his injury, he didn't want to hear about it and all he wanted to know was when he could play again. He said, just put a cast on it and I will play and that was something to hear a kid talk about how badly he wanted to play. It was quite an inspiration for me to listen to that and I wanted you to know about what he did."

Coughlin called the injury "serious." He added that Tryon's arm was "probably fractured" before the tackle of Bush and "the rest of it was taken care of on that last play."

EDIT: Nevermind, they didn't find out about the broken arm until after the game.

Ha, I knew it! For good measure, I actually went through and CTRL-F'ed your name throughout the thread until the end of the Panthers/Vikings game! I don't welch on my avatar bets, but trying to induce me into a fake bet after the way we lost yesterday...that's just low man.

Either that or a picture of Flacco after he gets benched.

If Flacco plays that bad, him getting benched will be amazing. I love the Ravens, but I'm the kind of fan who gets emotional. I love them, they're amazing, they're winning the Superbowl, Joe Flacco is a Elite QB

Followed immediately by

Fuck this team, they're terrible, they're old, we're never winning anything ever, Fire Harbaugh, Flacco is a worthless piece of shit.

This happens throughout a single game, repeatedly.

Yeah, his arm will always be an issue. When Tebow played Kiffin's D, he did jack shit. They cheated both safeties to the trips side and left the backside WR one on one because they knew he couldn't hit the deep ball from the wide side of the hash, or a deep comeback for that matter. They basically cheated both safeties to the inside routes and short stuff and let the outside WRs go one on one outside. He always had short area accuracy however, which hasn't been there this season, but I don't think the Broncos are packaging routes the way Florida was.

Look at Gabbert and the Jags, they have him passing out of 2 back, 2 receiver sets, he probably didn't do that more than half a dozen times at Missouri. Guy was all gun, routes were short and he got the ball out fast. Now I'm not blaming his troubles squarely on the "system," but it definitely doesn't help his cause.

With respect to Chudzinski and Newton, Chud's been around some of the best offensive minds in football. I guess the guy is just that good of a coach. Personnel helps, he's getting a lot out of those tight ends. How long before he's plucked away from the Panthers?

Contrast Chud, with another great football mind in Linehan. I don't think anyone believes that Linehan enhances Stafford, in fact you often see Lion fans bashing Linehan. Bad coach or bad QB....

Agree 100% with everything. To me, right now, Chudzinski has been more impressive than any other single individual in the game this year. It helps that he has a solid line that he can depend on. He's able to run 8+yard crossing patterns, cross-field posts/corners and 10 yard outs underneath them. They've quickly become my favorite offense to watch just because of their route combinations and designs. Instead of doing what most coaches would do, (the Gabbert approach) he is forcing Newton to make reads across the middle and in traffic without giving him the running back dump safety valve. I love it.

It's mind boggling that this is the same offense that played in the pre-season. I'm convinced they were sand bagging the whole time.

Didn't get to catch the games yesterday so I am just catching up but WTF at Lions mocking Tebow? What if he was another religion and they mocked him then? That's crossing the line. Fucking jackasses I am on the hate Lions bandwagon now. Kill em Packers.

Anyway back to the Eagles/Cowboys. I was at the game. Section 110 row 15. Lone Cowboy fan sitting in front of me who talked all this shit before the game but then dead quite the rest of the night. Pelican was that you son?

What a great game. This is what I had been waiting for. A complete game where the defense and offense play well together. Cowboys scored a garbage time TD and Murray had close to 100 yards rushing but the D completely shut down Romo and their explosive WRs.

Vick was amazing. As if he could do no wrong. And I have to praise Reid here as I always kill him for never running enough but it seems like he finally gets that McCoy is amazing (top 5 back in the league) and deserves/needs 20+ carries per game. And the offense is soo soo much better when they run, it opens up the passing game. Great to see Celek involved too. Again he is a weapon that seemingly forget about. And wow does having Peters back make a huge difference. Ware got 3 sacks but 2 of them were coverage sacks where Vick started to dance/scramble but other than that Peters was dominant. The whole OLINE played really well.

Only complaint is that with the game out of reach and all but over in the 4rth, Reid kept McCoy and Vick in. Take them out please. Especially when you have Ronnie Brown on the bench and barely use him. Put in Brown, run the ball, and eat the clock. No need to have Vick and McCoy take unnecessary hits.

Still we are 3-4 two games out. Don't want to get too excited but if the Eagles are going to put together a run this was a great start. They have to treat each game now as a playoff game until they are above .500 by a game or two. In my opinion they have to win the next three games (Bears and Cards at home and then Giants in NYC).

Those route combinations are awesome until Chud gets too cute and tries to call the same 8+ yard crossing patterns and corner routes on 3rd-and-3 or less. According to Bill Barnwell of Grantland/Football Outsiders, we've run 41 times on 3rd-and-3 or less and converted 29 of those (70.7%). We should just be calling QB draws and lining up in the conventional I-formations and stuffing it down the defense's throat. Instead, sometimes Chud calls for 40+ yd kill strikes at odd times of the game. That's my only gripe with Chud - there are times where he gets too cute in obvious run situations for his own good.

Yep.

I'm still bittered about that deep ball attempt on 3rd and 2 that killed the momentum, stopped the clock, and forced the punt that set up the Saints' game-winning drive.

How did Molden do btw? Did he play? Couldn't seem to stay on the field at any point in the season, if I remember correctly. Never played because he always had nagging injuries.

Torn on ridding myself of "ELITE".

On the one hand, the Ravens managed to not lose despite the reverse jinx magic, but the Texans and Coogs are both 2-0 since I got ELITE'd...

Don't mess with a good thing, right?

Nothing really, people are blowing it out of proportion. He did it because of the whole Tebowing (www.tebowing.com) phenomenon, not because he was mocking his religion. effzee needs to calm down:

Tulloch’s mini-taunt has elicited mixed reactions: Plenty of people found it a humorous jab at the Broncos’ quarterback; others complained that Tulloch was being disrespectful by making fun of Tebow’s faith.

“I wasn’t mocking him or anything,” Tulloch said. “Everyone is doing it. I figured if I got to him I would do it, too.”

Tulloch also found Tebow after the game and “just told him to keep his head up.”

That's all fine and good but without that scheme you guys aren't putting up anywhere near the points you are now. Live by the Chud die by the Chud.

Why can't we live by the Chud on 3rd-and-4 or longer but live by the Foxball on 3rd-and-3 and less?

I am not for religion in sports at all and don't care for any prayer or symbolism but when you mock Tebow for doing that you are mocking a religious move.

If Tebow was Jewish or say Muslim and did religious gestures and then had someone mock those gestures how would it be perceived?

I don't care for Tebow but that just seems like crossing the line. That after hearing they were mocking/taunting Matt Ryan and the fact that Suh is a dirty player...I want to see them lose from here on.

By all means, run him out of town. Just hopefully not to Minnesota.

Oh, I'm far from running him out of town. I already believe he's the best offensive coordinator we've had in our short history. But that doesn't mean you can't make some adjustments every now and then. But yes, I do love his high-flying offense after years and years of Foxball.

Just remembered this little incident after the Jets played the Lions last year

Bart Scott calls Lions a dirty team, compares them to the Titans
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on November 7, 2010, 6:50 PM EDT

The Jets scored a come-from-behind win at Detroit on Sunday, beating the Lions in overtime after falling behind 20-10.

After the game, linebacker Bart Scott was in no mood to celebrate. Instead, he wanted to call out the Lions.

“They’re by far
the dirtiest football team since I played the Titans,” Scott said, per Bob Glauber of Newsday. “I swear to God I
hope I see them again in life.”

It’s fitting that he’d mention the Titans. Coach Jim Schwartz spent several years as the Titans’ defensive coordinator before coming to Detroit.

Even now, the Titans have a reputation for goading opponents into personal fouls via allegedly dirty tactics.

Still, unless Scott is traded to another team, he won’t see the Lions for four years. Unless both teams make it to the Super Bowl in the same year.

Again, much ado about nothing. And I'm willing to bet if Tebow starts the balance of the season, you'll see other defenders doing it as well.

Rex runs to open the pass.
Fox runs to open the run.

If Tebow was out there doing Muslim prayers after every big play or touchdown, most of the people that are taking offense right now probably wouldn't be defending him and would tell him to get his religion off of the football field. Real talk.

There are already limits on what sort of religious gestures can be made while on the field. If Tebow scores and wants to quickly cross his chest or just kneel or whatever, then fine, I don't think anybody's going to mock that. However, when you do something unique as a celebration on the football field, something that isn't instantly recognizable (I don't know about you guys but I've never seen somebody actually perform a Christian prayer in a pose like that before), when the move turns into an internet meme, when you have people posting Twitter pictures of people doing that pose in various public locations, when it receives a ridiculous nickname like "Tebowing," then in the popular culture it has already lost its religious significance. If people were really taking it seriously, it would not be called Tebowing, it would be called, y'know, prayer.

No offense to Tebow himself or his beliefs, but his move is not simply his own anymore. It's a touchdown dance and, like any other touchdown dance, is open for others to perform at their discretion. If someone on the Lions didn't do it this weekend, a defensive player on some other team would have. I don't have any doubts about that.

Real talk is real. Most of Tebow's appeal in Denver is driven only because he's Christian. I don't think anyone actually believes he's a great QB.

I wasn't big into football when Warner played other than his resurgence in Arizona, but that dude's a big Christian (and was actually a good qb as a bonus) and I don't recall him getting nearly as much attention as Tebow does.

Edit: I guess adding Tebow's college success pushes it over the edge.

Different area. And Kurt was "done" as far as everyone was concerned. Tebow is a young guy and a Heismann winner. Plus, Dirt wasn't out there trying to convert people, making religious gestures, or telling people what to do in commercials.

Warner never did pro-life commercials nor were his parents missionaries. Plus Tebow played in Florida and is one of the best College football player. Tebow is also a 1st round draft pick.

If Tebow was drafted in the 3rd we wouldn't be having this conversation.

You could easily say the opposite. That most of the hate he gets can be related to his religion and how public he has been with it. I personally don't care one way or the other, I'm just sick of all the talk surrounding him and wish it would die down. In some ways the misfortune of losing yesterday might be a "blessing" in that the media might move on.

I was pretty down on him yesterday, but I still think that you have to give him a body of games in order to evaluate him properly. It may be painful, and embarassing at times, but I feel it has to be done in order to make the right decision going into the draft.

If it doesn't pan out, I would love to see him play RB or TE as I was saying yesterday.

You could say that, but you'd be wrong. Even you're sick of the media coverage. He's not at all what he's painted out to be. This is why he gets so much backlash.
