Team receives ball. Team drives. Team scores FG on their first drive. Instead of game being over, other team gets kickoff, gets to try their luck.

That's the only scenario where it's different.

What they should've done (and still should do) is make sudden death "first to 4 points". Otherwise play the full extra 15 minutes.
