The lack of a Super Bowl thread is a clear indication that no one has two fucks to rub together for this game.

My wife started calling it the Chili Bowl because we're throwing a party but will likely only watch the commercials.

Bucket - put up the offseason thread and let's start talking draft and Kiper's hair.

Never say never, but the Pats would have to offer a Herschel Walker type deal. Would take an over payment and then some.

You could argue that the time is now to do that kind of trade. Go all in for an impact player. They don't need more 4th round picks. NE needs impact players on D

This is very true, but Revis is only a dream. I would target a stud DE, or someone like Jared Allen. If they could realistically get Revis I would do it. Don't care if it costs some 1st rounders/2nd round picks. The only problem is that the Pats pass rush still isn't consistent even with a stud like that. Even with Revis Pats would still have problems with the front 7, and I'm not sure they have a DC creative enough to overcome that.

Go all in so he can maybe play, sit out or want a zillion dollars after next year. Not going to happen.

Brady is at the Manning stage where he can carry you through regular season, but he alone cannot win playoff games. They are going to have to get much better on defense, and Belichick can't seem to draft well there

The offense lost their last 3 biggest playoff games unless in bizarro world 14,17,13 points is acceptable for the " best " offense in the league.

Drafts have been much better in recent years. Belichick can't draft corners or WR to save his life though.

In playoffs, your D doesn't force turnovers. Field position always sucks b/c no plays from ST. Always have to go 80 yards and be perfect to score. Brady can do that in the regular season, but can't vs playoff teams.

Pats have WRs that are great at getting open in the regular season but once the refs swallow the whistles in the playoffs they are fucked. The fact that Brady cant go deep either does them no favors. Their offense just looks totally different in the playoffs.

They had good field position against the Ravens and the D was lights out the 1st half. The offense pulled a massive choke job keeping the Ravens in the game. Gronk is a legit excuse in the SB since that was the first time he was useless in a game. They played plenty without him this year.

In the last game it was the red area that killed them on both sides of the ball. Missing Gronk hurts, but Welker is a guy who likes to come up small in the big games. Pats need another guy who can beat man coverage consistently, and who is solid in the red area. I'm starting to believe Bradys over reliance on Welker is hurting the team in the playoffs. Welker in the regular season is great, but when the games get tighter and the defenses are allowed to be more physical it's easier to take him out. You just can't trust the dude to make the big plays. In general though I agree with your statement. Offense has come up small, but the defense has been terrible. Baltimore scored a TD every time they were in the red area. You just can't win games if you don't have playmakers on defense.

Over reliance on Welker. Hernandez can get open in the playoffs, but Welker can't. Plus Welker just is not clutch. Likes to drop passes at the worst possible time.

I think that had more to do with Baltimore to be honest. I would have to see the all-22 to confirm my suspicions. The defense was still terrible. No resistance in the red area.

Having no Gronk doesnt help either.

I mean, his injury history is why he lasted until the second round in the first place. While it's been different injuries than his one in college so far, durability issues were one reason why teams let him fall a bit. It's not like it should be hugely shocking IMO.

Yeah but in the injury which let him fall, his back, hasn't been the one to keep him out of games.

Quick poll, what's more annoying?

A. Tipped ball turnovers
B. Slipping receiver turnovers

I would go with C, WR/QB miscommunication. I hate not knowing who to blame. Of those two, I would go with B. You never want your QB to look bad unless it's a Schoob situation where you want him gone. Fans can't see WRs fall on TV. All they see is QB hitting a DB in the chest and moron announcers not explaining things right
