Pretty much exactly what I thought when I all saw of the tweets yesterday. All of the Wentz tweets came out immediately after the trade was confirmed, Rams sources realized that they were showing their hand way too easily (and too early), and then started feeding the Goff rumors to their sources to even things out.

Uhhh why would the rams care if it leaks? They have the first pick already, it's not like a team can come in a take him....that doesn't make sense.

League wants it for the suspense. Also keeps Cleveland guessing and anyone trying to deal with the Browns.

Kind of like Draft Day but no Costner to save the Browns.

Pass. I love the guy's game but I have almost zero tolerance on injury risks in the first round. You take those risks in the 3rd round with guys like Hicks. Gurley's knee checked out, so it wasn't a risk more than any other guy with an ACL in college. But Jack, I would pass, even at 8
Knowing my luck considering he was my dream pick he'll fall to the Giants at 10, we'll take him, then he'll be out for the season with a permanent injury and never get back to the state he was in before the draft.

Fucking monkey paws

think of dallas as an elevator of sorts

i don't know who i could root for in that game, i just love both teams too much.

Let's just kick back and enjoy the fuckball with some cold beers (coors for you),

They have training camp up in Oxnard, you guys should go to a practice!

Yup I've been there the last 5-6 years actually, I've even met some of the cheerleaders....and I've seen Romo up close!

32 Fearless Predictions For The 2016 NFL Draft

Interesting read

2. Every year there is a surprise slider, someone universally projected to go high but winds up dropping much further than seemingly possible. This year that player will be Ohio State DE Joey Bosa. He winds up dropping out of the top-8 after being projected as a top-5 pick--at worst--since last summer.

3. The first wideout taken will be Notre Dame’s Will Fuller, as Daniel Jeremiah and others have intimated. He is my No. 12 receiver and reminds me so much of Troy Williamson; I will laugh heartily when he’s gone in the first 15 picks. And he will be.

5. There will be two other traded picks in the top 10, and both will involve NFC East teams and quarterbacks. In true crystal ball vagueness, that’s all the detail I can provide. For those who want the gory details, call 1-900-IDUNNO-2 and enter your bank account info and mother’s maiden name.

10. There will be five quarterbacks in the first round. In order: Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, Paxton Lynch, Connor Cook and Cardale Jones, who will be the No. 31 overall pick as a team desires to get that fifth contract year instead of waiting one pick and just getting four. I don’t think Denver will be the team picking there, but the Broncos winding up with Cook would not surprise me at all.

I think RBSlut kinda phrased it the best.

Chris I think it's really just about keeping the other teams on their feet. If we Know the Rams want Wentz or certain player, it pretty much gives Browns 2 weeks to squarely field calls/negotiate for their pick knowing exactly what Qb/player is available. I think it's just about not given other teams any kind of advantage. Browns can still field trade calls now, but theirs uncertainty as to what players will be available. It's just about not giving any teams any advantage no matter how small, if that makes sense?

If it doesn't make sense you send Mech a bag of shit in the mail, because I'm pretty sure it would make sense of the situation.

One will involve a three team trade where Bradford goes to the 49ers and the Eagles get the #2 pick from the Browns

I understand that...if it somehow gave the Rams any kind of advantage or disadvantage, but what the Browns do with their pick has no impact on the Rams, so it just seems weird that they would waste time trying to prevent that rumor from spreading when it literally doesn't matter at all, in any way for the Rams, it just doesn't. But I think I'll follow your advice regardless....hey mech...PM your address...

Both QB's are great prospects. The one big difference I'm seeing is that Wentz looks great at combines and pro days. No pass rush, no coverage, no competition. He nails every throw, every seam and leads his receivers pretty good. But once you pop the tape in, he was just OK against the best team he played in 2 years....Iowa State. That game he did good with 6 and 7 yard throws, but he didn't nail any big or intermediate throws. Goff is the total opposite. He does good on Pro days and Combine days, but really did great during real games. These execs want Wentz to be the next big ben, but he's got a good chance of being the next Kyle Boller or David Carr. He is a physical specimen with a great arm, but that Iowa State game showed him lock on receivers, get hurried, get sacked and settle for what the defense gave him, short, first read passes. This one is tough. If my life depended on it I go with Goff, If I'm betting someone elses money I go with Wentz.

Iowa State isn't the best team he faced though, and that was his first ever start in college, and it was on the road. But let's judge him by that game.

That's fine for the NFL and the Browns, still doesn't explain why the Rams would care.

It's not that difficult to understand, the NFL and Kroenke/the Rams have a back-scratching relationship. It's part of the reason why the NFL went with Kroenke's stadium proposal. NFL Network HQ is probably going to be built on Kroenke's lot. So at the end of the day, what's good for the Rams is good for the NFL and what's good for the NFL is good for the Rams. So while there's no particular reason why they should care about leaking their pick, if the NFL asks the Rams not to leak it, then they won't do it.
