Vikings are releasing K Blair Walsh today, source says.
Interesting little article about the McCarthy/Rodgers relationship. Although it apparently ignores the fact that Rodgers has been taking passive shots at McCarthy since the Seattle NFC Championship Game
As usual, Rodgers isn't taking enough (actually, any) of the blame.
Rodger's deserves some of the blame. But honestly, I think it's a biproduct of the offense McCarthy is trying to run. He's trying to run an offense that simply doesn't work with the talent of the team. Rodgers always looks 10x better when they have to abandon the run and pass everywhere. Rodgers seems to regress when he has to ride along with McCarthy's stubborn attempts to make the running game work when they have nobody at RB - partially because it results in the offense becoming vanilla as fuck.
No offense, but do you know how silly this sounds? All it takes to fuck Rodgers up is giving your RB touches?

Rodgers has been trash, but Montgomery not getting more snaps before injuries forced their hand shows that Mike has no fucking clueNo offense, but do you know how silly this sounds? All it takes to fuck Rodgers up is giving your RB touches?
Romo gives them a better chance to win. It isn't like Dak is going out there and carrying the team. He's game managing. Romo can take over a game in ways that Dak cant. You'd have to be absolutely batshit insane to consider putting Romo in over Dak right now
I thought that Zimmer was going to be a great head coach but I really wonder if he is part of the problem. Vikes have a historically bad rushing attack, every play that they hand the ball off is basically a wasted play. They need to keep getting the ball out quick and focusing on what Bradford does well.

You spoke about ceilings, Romo is 36 years old and coming of yet another injury. Do you run the risk of taking Dak out, only to put him back in again if Romo gets re-injured? It happened last season..
I know Romo's your guy Farooq, but the reality is Romo may never start in Dallas again.
You underestimate team chemistry and continuity. Inserting player x and the team gets better is a myth or every free agent and trade would work. Dallas should be looking at the bigger picture of how to sustain success and that picture doesn't have Romo in it.
Agreed. This criticism may be seen as homerish, but Dak has come down to earth in recent weeks. Had Pederson done the smart thing and kicked the FG, Cowboys would've lost the Eagles game, and Tomlin kicking a few of those PATs might've swung the Steelers game. Now, Dak is already better than about half the QBs in the league, but you can see his rookie struggles. They haven't really faced top tier defenses, except against the Eagles where he struggled for most of the game. They'll run into tough defenses in the playoffs. Dak is a great QB already and will only get better in the future, but unless Romo is literally crippled there's no denying Romo is better. Romo would've made several of the throws Dak has missed in recent weeks and they would've beaten the Steelers and Eagles much more comfortably. If they put Romo in I can see them going to the SB and winning. If they stay with Dak they'll eventually hit a wall. Their schedule is very favorable with weak defenses remaining (Vikings notwithstanding but they have no offense), but the playoffs are different.
Romo is better than Dak, full stop. Put Romo in and they're going to the SB, however painful it is for me to admit it.
I don't think that there is any doubt that Romo is the better QB, but the team is probably better with Dak. The chemistry and leadership is off the charts.

A team with a good defense and competent offense beats DAL by forcing them to throw the ball.
Like I said, when McCarthy wants to commit to a balanced run/pass game his play calling in general becomes vanilla and completely lacking in creativity. Things tend to improve when the play calling goes pass-heavy and he calls for receivers to do more creative routes other than "run straight and try to outrun your cover guy". Even though it was a loss, one of their best offensive showings was against Atlanta when they had no RB available. I've been saying for about the last year or so that Eddie Lacy was inadvertently the worst thing that happened to their offense.
He's game managing. He has the best line, Rb, and a top 5 WR.The only starters who have better Quarterback Ratings than Dak right now are Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, and Drew Brees. He's only thrown 14 TDs but he's only thrown 2 INTs. Plus he's developed a chemistry with the team and the team has confidence they can win with him right now. Sitting him for Romo would be a horrible choice right now.
Might be good to let off the breaks a bit. Zimmer is a good coach. You can only do so much when you have had a year from hell when it comes to injuries, especially to the Oline.
.
I do agree that Zimmer is a good coach, but he bungled the Lions game into a loss. He also overreacted to the loss to Philly. That fiery temper that has served him well has not helped them out of a pretty ugly losing streak
He's game managing. He has the best line, Rb, and a top 5 WR.
He played so bad against the eagles D, and our DBs suck. He all hype right now, and if Dallas wants a SB then you have to go with Romo. Cause a rookie QB isn't doing it.

No doubt.
I have faith that they will figure things out.

I hope so. I really want to see Sam get a chance in the playoffs. I only watched a little of the Skins game, but they would pass the ball down the field it seemed and then try to run twice setting up a third and long situation. It seems like once things started to go bad with all the injuries Zimmer got more involved with the offense and now it is a mess and the D isnt bailing them out any more for what ever reason.
I'm actually not very sure the Vikings will make the playoffs. The struggle has been too real.
eww cowboys talk?
Can we post some anime or discuss FF?
Dez Bryant is not a top 5 WR.
Pretty sure PFF has him in the top 5, or had earlier in the season. I also know that Dak has the highest passer rating in the league when passing to Dez.
Cowboys WILL NOT make the Super Bowl. I would bet my avatar for two months if it does happenpats vs cowboys at nrg!
As the whole county takes the L, Houston has to take it more!

Don't really care who is to blame in Green Bay.
Coaches are more replaceable than elite quarterbacks. Time to make a change and then re-evaluate Rodgers under a different coach.

Miami has the Dolphins
The Greatest Football Team
We take the ball from goal to goal
Like no one's ever seen
We're in the air, we're on the ground
We're always in control
And when you say Miami
You're talking Super Bowl
'Cause we're the...
Miami Dolphins,
Miami Dolphins,
Miami Dolphins Number One.
Yes we're the...
Miami Dolphins,
Miami Dolphins,
Miami Dolphins Number One
I will have you know that Mike McCarthy is a very successful head coach. One of the Green Bay beat writers was on NFLN yesterday and he said that his statement read like someone trying to convince their boss not to fire them. So maybe their is hope for you guys.

Who exactly are the "top tier" defenses? Denver and...?
I about threw up when he said that. Fucking show us that you're that good.
For sure. And if MM is out there than JAX should hire him right away. I think Ted is as responsible as anyone there and MM would have the Jags looking good pretty quickly
The fact that McCarthy said that I think shows that he doesn't have a fucking clue right now. This is the same guy who basically said "nothing is wrong" when the Packers were imploding in the second half of last season.
Alternatively, if McCarthy would get canned and sign with someone else, we might see McCarthy get exposed since he wont have hall of fame caliber players around him to bail him out of terrible calls.
PFF you say? Marvelous.

I mean, what other stat do you want? The fact that he has as many yards per reception as Julio Jones? He was injured for 3+ weeks and plays in a run first offense, so it's not like he's going to have world beating numbers, but that doesn't mean he's been playing poorly this season. Dez has always been great when/if he can stay healthy.
This is a huge pet peeve of mine. What do you expect him to say? "Christ, we're fucked sideways and I have no answers".
Evaluating coaches based on what they say in press conferences is stupid.

Edit: Seattle, who else
Minnesota and Arizona maybe? Seattle as usual?
