I leave you guys alone for a few hours, come back to Twitter to check out Ted Cruz' porn scandal and what's that I see as #2 worldwide trending topic behind Ted Cruz? Did you guys treat my boy Sergio Dipp so bad in his first ever English tv appearance that you made him a TT?! Was all of this really just because of that one intervention or did he have more than one and all of them were fumbles (pun intended)?

In all seriousness Sergio is a very competent commentator in ESPN Deportes for years now and he's not the first one to make the jump to ESPN in English for NFL games (the other one being John Sutcliffe who's also Mexican).

I feel bad for Sergio. He's young and talented but nerves are a bitch. Especially when not speaking in your native tongue!

Rivers has compiled some very good stats over the years but he's blown a lot of close games and hasn't done much in the post season with some hall of fame talent on his team for much of his career. He's also never been an MVP/all-pro candidate and has watched pretty much all of his peers at QB at least reach a Super Bowl.

I'm just now seeing Romo call his game on Sunday. I heard he was great, but the fact that he's innovating and Jim Nantz is encouraging it is pretty impressive.

The format change is interesting. Using the telestrator to call out plays/hot routes and read blitzes.

I wonder how long it will take for other networks to do this on every broadcast. There are enough former QBs out there. It's raising the bar for what can be learned from color commentators about the game of football.

I think the novelty may run out after a while, but it's refreshing to see the color analysts call out what a lot of football people see watching games.

This isn't really new it just happens rarely. It's hard to react quickly enough to draw between them lining up and snapping and I'm sure most announcers aren't comfortable doing it unless they're 100% sure they'll get the play right.

The Chargers have been losing games in crushing fashion since Rivers got there. That is now several coaches and it is always the same. The constant is Rivers

This week was the lowest passer rating weekend for QBs since 2012. And it is so obvious that the problem is OL play. Teams that cannot pass protect cannot win

This is nonsense. He's never had a team around him good enough to win championships. Great QB's can get you to the playoffs, but they can't win Superbowls without the talent around them to do it.

It's pretty cool, I think the novelty will last a lot longer if he not only calls it before the play, but gives quick breakdowns of what he saw and why the QB would call an audible or check out of it.

Lol Rivers had some good teams for a while but the idea he ever had a championship caliber team excluding him is ridiculous. I get he had LT and Gates in their prime, but for what it's worth, every great QB also had a great game breaking receiver for at least some of their career. Gates is one of the best TEs ever, but how many times did he break a game open or single handedly reverse a game's momentum? And LT, for as great as he was, NEVER showed up in the playoffs. And neither did the defense.

It's really hard to blame the Chargers lack of success on Rivers. He never wound up with the right kind of team or players around him.

Chris Cooley does a really impressive film break down every week. This is his 2nd or 3rd year doing it and the major networks tried to hire him away from the local ESPN affiliate because of it.

I'm sure this is def the way in which things are heading.

Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Mike Daniels traded in his green-and-gold uniform in July for a white robe, a championship belt and a blonde wig that had to be taped to his head.

He's a tough-as-nails defender on the football field, and a huge fan of Japanese animation off of it.

So much so that Daniels attended Comic-Con this year, joining other devotees of the annual pop culture convention by showing up in costume.

"My first time there, and if it's not during camp, I'll be there again next year," Daniels said. "Yeah, I love it. I completely love it."

Daniels donned the golden locks of the character "Raikage ," from a Japanese animated series. He was a hit on social media after chronicling his time at the convention in San Diego.

"We already got a preview of Mike's new look on headshot day," the Packers posted on Twitter with an illustration of blonde hair drawn over Daniels' usually closely shaven head.

Outside of football, that energy is in part funneled into an interest in anime that dates back to when he was a kid. He spoke on a panel discussion at Comic-Con and posed for lots of pictures.

"I am the Raikage. I am also Mike Daniels of the Green Bay Packers. We are one and the same," Daniels said on a video from Comic-Con . "Embrace the fact that you are different. ... Don't think you're alone. Embrace it. Love it."

Wait, BoB is making a QB switch after one half!? All of training camp and preseason he was saying "Savage is our guy" but one bad half in which he was constantly under pressure is enough to get the hook? God damn that guy is the worst with quarterbacks.
