OAKLAND -- One week after Major League Baseball officials came to town to discuss stadium options for the A's, NFL executives arrived to hear Oakland's pitch for a new Raiders stadium.

NFL officials requested the secret Aug. 9 meeting, whose participants included Raiders owner Mark Davis, team president Amy Trask, Mayor Jean Quan, City Council president Larry Reid and Alameda County Administrator Susan Muranishi.

The Raiders have been the lone tenant at the Coliseum complex to not dismiss the city's proposal that the teams build new facilities there along with hotels, restaurants and shops.
The Warriors spurned Oakland's overtures and instead announced plans to build an arena in San Francisco, and the A's still want to move to San Jose.

Raiders and NFL officials refused to say much about last week's meeting, during which the team laid out its vision for a transformed Coliseum complex.

"It was an important meeting because it is at a stage where the Raiders must develop a (stadium) option," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said in an email.

It remains unclear whether the league would help pay for a new football stadium in Oakland after it already pledged $200 million to the 49ers planned $1.1 billion stadium in Santa Clara.

The league had encouraged both New York teams to work together on their new stadium, for which it contributed $300 million.

City officials are proposing that its three teams pay to build new facilities at the Coliseum complex. The teams would also get rights to help develop the entertainment complex on the remainder of the 750-acre publicly owned site in East Oakland.

The Raiders have said they prefer to stay in Oakland, but want a replacement for the 46-year-old O.co Coliseum they share with the A's. The planned 49ers stadium in Santa Clara remains an option for the team, as does a return to Los Angeles, where private investors have proposed a downtown football stadium.

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – It’s a case of a woman with burned buttocks, literally. A Dallas Cowboys fan is suing the organization and owner Jerry Jones over burns she says she received because of their negligence.

Jennelle Carrillo, of Cleburne, received severe burns to her backside after allegedly sitting on a bench outside Cowboys Stadium.

“She sat down on this black bench, outside an entrance and unfortunately she suffered third-degree burns as a result of it and had subsequent skin grafts,” explained Carrillo’s lawyer, Michael Wash.

The incident occurred in August of 2010, when Carrillo attended the Blue & Silver scrimmage football game. Temperatures on the day of the game were reportedly more than 100 degrees.

Wash said his client didn’t stay for the game. “She knew, while she was there at the stadium, that she had received some burns. But she didn’t realize how serious they were until she received medical attention.”

After seeking that medical attention Wash said Carrillo was “hospitalized for about a week [and] had some very serious injuries.”

Part of the lawsuit, filed in Tarrant County civil court, states specifically, “The bench was uncovered and openly exposed to the extremely hot August sun. The combination of the nature of the black, marble bench and hot sunlight caused the bench to become extremely hot and unreasonable dangerous.”

The suit goes on to state that the stadium didn’t warn Carrillo or others about hot bench dangers and that there were no signs posted warning that the bench was hot.

Wash said his client suffered mental anguish, physical pain and disfigurement as a result of her wounds.

Carrillo isn’t seeking a specific amount from those named in the lawsuit, but is suing to get a jury trial and payment of court fees, interest and a damage amount determined by said jury.

The Dallas Cowboys are staying mum on the issue, as their policy is not to comment about ongoing litigation.

It was more just a comment of how the hell did Leftwich not seriously injure himself on that play, given the hit + leftwich's frailness + our OL

Good news? Pats fans

Vollmer looked pretty decent running with the rehab group. All I know is they want to make darn sure he's right

Maybe he may actually be healthy this season. Would be a giant boost to the oline.
