if Jake Plummer fucks this up with some behind the back throw it'll just be icing on the "Game of the Year" cake.

Even better if he goes behind the back for the game winning TD!

even if it was 3rd, with the conditions the way they are, you like to have an extra down in case the snap gets messed up or something. Its not like 19 seconds was a lot of time to work with regardless.

anyway, that was a really entertaining game.

Just wondering who else thinks Tony Siragusa is stupid, not the person but the roll he plays, and what he says.

yeah the goose is retarded. here is how their conversations go:

Moose: Hey goose its the moose. Tell us if its difficult to be a defensive lineman in the nfl

Goose: Hey moose its the goose. You bet its tough! one time i got blocked by 3 guys and pushed down. but hey these cheeseburgers in <insert city> are excellent! heh!

Moose: Hey goose, its the moose. Goose, can you tell us what you saw on that play even though we have about a gajillion cameras giving us a better visual idea than you ever could?

Goose: Hey moose, its goose. You bet your sweet ballsack i can tell you what happened. The running back ran into the hole, and then he broke away for a touchdown. it's incredible down here on the field guys. like nothin' ive ever seen before!

im tired of all these gimmick comentaries!

Well, while having the wind of the upper echelon of Heinz Field bite my face off, I witnessed the struggling of the Steelers' passing game. It's not any one thing either. At times, the play calling was questionable, at others the Oline missed some more blocks in the pass protection, Ben missed some open guys again and got away with one really bad pass decision (did make some nice plays to escape pressure again though), Bus blew at least one block in the backfield once more and a few times guys dropped balls that were right there. Seeing Hines drop a few more again this week was a little disheartening. They need Plax back and they need Duce, especially on third downs, if not for another receiving threat but at least for blocking help.

Now, for the positives. Running game is still solid, even against a number 2 defense. The Steeler D is still playing lights out. Put into some crappy situations because of an offense that was unable to consistently move the ball, they played superb. More sacks, another turnover. Always nice to see. And the punt return team seems to be catching on fire at exactly the right time. That's going to be a huge help.

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.
It's hard to judge your defense against the Redskins. It's usually around the third quarter when defenders start visably laughing at the plays Washington runs. Especially the one route pass plays.

That said though, Wash's defense is very good. Pitt seemed to play pretty well on offense to me, a couple more key plays on their good drives and they'd have pulled away earlier. They clearly controlled the clock too.

Portis only getting 6 rushes though... something's up.

True, and Ramsey didn't play well, though they did have plenty of dropped balls too. But the Steeler D has been the one constant all year. Case in point, Carson Palmer last week vs the Steeler D looking confused and making boneheaded choices versus Carson Palmer against the Browns D.

True, that was one of the things that I kept reminding myself, that the skins are great defensively. But, when you are sitting way up high, you can see the guys that Ben is not seeing open, mostly checkdown guys. And, there were a few more blocking breakdowns, though not as many as last week. And, as I already said, there were some key drops. Two weeks in a row now were rookie Willie Parker has dropped easy passes that would have been huge gains. Without Duce out, Willie never sees the field. So, that's an injury thing. Overall, a solid if not ugly win.

When does Plax come back?

I was pretty satisfied with the offense from what I saw in highlights. Cowher is playing real conservative and since the Steelers are 9-1 who can blame him? The Steelers are really balanced right now and even though Ben had some mistakes the last few weeks, he makes enough plays to win.

Spectral since you were there in person you can answer this. What kind of routes were the Steelers running yesterday? And what kind of defense was Washington playing? Were the Redskins just stacking the box with 8 guys? They were obviously blitzing on 3rd down, were we not picking it up well? Is Ben just taking too long? Are the routes just terrible? I missed the last game, but it seems we need to get a short passing game going as well. I doubt they are going to do that though when our current strategy is working perfectly, get a lead and then run them into the ground. :D

Well, I was WAY up high :lol, so it's hard to see everything clearly. But, from what I could tell, the Skins were dropping more guys off into coverage. And, without Plax, they didn't have to double Randle El and focused more on Ward. El did make a really nice play one on one after a catch to break free for extra yardage. He only had two catches though. Most of the day, the wide outs could not get separation. Sean Morrey saw more action on the field at WR which tells me they weren't to happy with the play of Lee Mays the last few weeks. IMO, I think some of it is that Ben is taking too long. The line gave up a few more one on one sacks, although it was nowhere near as bad as last week. The skins LBs got most of their 4 sacks, so some of it was blitzing. And, Bettis is not the guy I like to have in the backfield when a blitz is on. Ben is starting to get a lil bit of the happy feet with more guys breaking free and he hasn't always seen the short guys underneath. He still made some nice breakaways from pressure though. And he still hasn't just thrown up the ball in blind desperation like a hugely green rookie would. So while he isn't playing perfect, he's doing the job when it counts.

Considering the competition and the steeler injuries, the gameplan made sense. However, there were a few run, run, pass, punt series that I didn't care for at all. And Cowher elected to punt from just outside the 30 twice when going for it would have made more sense considering the inability of the skins offense. And then, in the 4th quarter, when the skins were clearly tired of tackling Bettis, on a 3rd and 2 from the Skins 14, the Steelers spread em out and threw a pass, which, of course fell incomplete. That one I didn't understand at all. So really, it wasn't any one thing. It wasn't like the Skins were just pounding Ben with the blitz and it wasn't like Ben was just wildly throwing the ball. It was a combination of protection, weird play calls, missed oportunities, guys not getting open or guys dropping the rock. But the running and run blocking are still there. They just need to get healthy and get the timing back in their passing game IMO.

As for Plax, last I read was a comment from him that he should back for the Jags game next Sunday. I'm hoping so. I'll see what Cowher reports from the press conference tomorrow. No new injuries were reported this week though, which is great news.

Yeah I am not worried yet. Amazing how smart Ben plays for a rookie. He not really put us in a bad position yet and when we need a big play, more often then not he will deliver. Ben is going to be scary once he gets a better grasp of the system. Hopefully he can surprise us and master it by playoff time. :D

did you have those upper lip obstructed view seats?

Section 525, three rows down from the very last one. Wasn't obstructed though. Only problem might have been the lack of oxygen on the way up. :lol It's just hard to know who or what to exactly concentrate on when you can see everybody on both teams all moving at the same time. Since I have gone to one game three years in a row now, I'm thinking of investing in a good pair of binoculars to get a few closer looks.

You know Plaxico is a pretty nice receiver. Sure would be nice if at the end of season he would come on down to the Falcons...................;)

Wouldn't be surprised if the Steelers ended up being too cheap to pay him. :(

We should just drop Bell and make Burress a Franchise player. Wonder if we can do that and keep Ward as well? Would suck to lose either of them . :(

Not as nice as it would be if you came down from your lil pick em streak, :D .

I can't say for sure what will happen with Plax. If he plays well when he comes back, and certainly if he comes up huge in the playoffs, I think the Steelers make a serious offer to keep him. I'm sure Ben will lobby for him.

I've gotta beleive Kendrell has seen his last days as a steeler. Sad, the ability is certainly there, but the body isn't.

I think it's a lock that the Steelers keep Burress, the way that the passing game is going without him. They will let Bell go because he's injury prone, but even if they don't he'll be cheap...because he's injury prone. They've also been saying since last year that Ward is their #1 priority this offseason, despite the fact that he's got a year left under contract.

Ben is cool to watch during pre-game warmups. He goes to every single guy on the team while they are stretching to give a hand shake or high five to them. I just laugh at the thought of Kordell doing that. He had zero leadership skills.

Kordell was the worst, he should have stayed a wide reciever. :(

I wonder if it is true that he is gay. I used to hear the most ridiculous stories about him from friends in Pittsburgh, they were too ridiculous to be true.

why do you guys rip on Kordell so much? The only former steeler QB that deserves that kind of venom is Bubby Brister.

He was one of the worst QBs ever. He wasted a few really good team's chances at winning a Superbowl. :(

he wasn't worse than O'Donnell or Bubby...

Why hate Kordell more than O'Donnell? Niel actually wasted a super bowl appearance.
