why do you guys rip on Kordell so much? The only former steeler QB that deserves that kind of venom is Bubby Brister.

You can't be serious. Bubby never cried during a game. Bubby never went into the locker room during halftime of a game and openly expressed that he didn't want to go back out and face the fans. When Neil went down with an injury in 92, Bubby, even though he didn't like being demoted, didn't say anything, he came in and performed enough to help the team. He probably should have started that playoff game against the Bills that year, cause NOD wasn't 100%. Bubby went to Denver and played well when Elway went down and earned himself a super bowl ring.....I can't see Kordell ever doing that. I didn't hate Kordell when he was in there, because at times they were missing other key team elements. But when the chips got down, Kordell never did anything but throw picks that cost the team a big playoff game.

Kordell was the worst, he should have stayed a wide reciever. :(

I wonder if it is true that he is gay. I used to hear the most ridiculous stories about him from friends in Pittsburgh, they were too ridiculous to be true.

I too heard the gay comments. I don't know what say about them. Not being from pittsburgh, I don't know any of the truth. So all I can say to that is who knows.

Why hate Kordell more than O'Donnell? Niel actually wasted a super bowl appearance.

That's just it, Neil at least helped to get them to the show. Kordell could not.

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.
Brister was a bust and O'Donnel blew his team's chances in the Super Bowl, whereas Kordell was not expected to be much of a QB. He probably should have stayed at the "slash" position. That stretch of games where he would only play QB in goal line situations was really cool, they should have built on that system.

So yeah, I am serious... where's all the O'donnell hate?

Look up the stats, Brister and NOD have more TD passes than Kordell. Brister and NOD have fewer pass INTs than Kordell, and both have higher passer ratings than Kordell and a higher yardage per pass attempts average.

The reason Kordell didn't stay as slash was because he didn't want to. He cried and moaned on almost a weekly basis as he was outplayed by Mike Tomczak of all people, that he would never play receiver again. When the offense stunk, all he could ever say was, "This is not about Kordell Stewart, this is not the Kordell stewart show." Not once would he stand up and say, "I need to play better."

My point was, Kordell was not expected to be a good QB, regardless of what he thought of himself.

But in the end, we're arguing about three forgetable QB's, I just don't like that Kordell is Pitt's scapegoat for not getting it done in the 90's.

And Brister and O'Donnell were? Come on, that's a weak, weak, argument. Kordell wasn't the only scapegoat, but he certainly was one of them.

Edit: By the way, Brister and NOD were 3rd round picks, Stewart was a 2nd.

You want bad Steeler QBs? Try Cliff Stoudt. Try Mark Malone, who was a first round pick. Or David Woodley, or Scott Campbell, or Todd Blackledge, or Rick Strom or Kent Graham. Stewart wasn't as bad as those guys, but he wasn't as good as Brister or NOD either. Those are simply the stats and facts.

Not as nice as it would be if you came down from your lil pick em streak, :D .

I can't say for sure what will happen with Plax. If he plays well when he comes back, and certainly if he comes up huge in the playoffs, I think the Steelers make a serious offer to keep him. I'm sure Ben will lobby for him.

I've gotta beleive Kendrell has seen his last days as a steeler. Sad, the ability is certainly there, but the body isn't.

I'm not going to comment on the pick 'em streak for fear of a jinx.
:D

I said that about Plaxico because there are some rumors going around down here that he has mentioned an interest in coming to the Falcons.

:lol @ Hand pulling groin line.

Still this sucks. Our defense is patchwork as it is, and still, they get the job done! The offense is giving up crazy field position and this group of no name players is stepping up in a big way. Props to the Giants D.

I am still confident! Fuck being a fair weather fan! GB WIN IT TODAY! We'll still be in the wildcard race if STL keeps losing. :lol

"We've got multiple penalties, illegal use of the name Kordell, on Spectral Glider and levious. The penalties offset. We've also got too many Kordell appologists in the thread, on levious. Penalty will be assessed on the next post. Play GAF!"

Defending him? No, but just in relation to other recent inept Pitt qb's.

Kordell deserved all the shit he got. Odonnel was the only one who was unfairly maligned, he was a decent qb who choked in the Superbowl, but he at least had some skills. Kordell is just not a qb and his bitch attitude was the straw the broke the camel's back.

Yeah he really got on Shockey too. Giant fans seem to worship him like a god no matter what he does.

This whole discussion was a clever ruse devised solely so I could mention that the Cowboys got the last laugh on the Steelers in the super bowl!

I think that deserves a ban!

And 3-5 years in a pound you in the ass prison, with Kordell as your roommate!

Well, you gotta understand our mentality. It's been so long since Phil Simms, or Rodney Hampton or any offensive star to fall into our laps that we're fawning over whoever the fuck comes along. Shockey was very impressive a few seasons ago, but since then his production has been shit (product of not being thrown to as much and bad hands, he still rocks in Madden though!) but the luster is still there for us. Just look at the hype surrounding Eli, and the apologists saying oh he is still a rookie etc.

What I don't understand is that here we have a bonafide explosive offensive player in Tiki Barber, one of the bests RBs in the league, and he goes along his business quietly and no one really gives a special nod here in this city. It's the oddest thing.

Anyway, my comments on last night's game: Hideos. The Giants are just not getting it done on the offense. I read some articles and listened to sports radio here on the city, and I am appaulled that some have the audacity to blame the GM Ernie Accorsi. The talent is there. Barber, Shockey, Toomer, Taylor emerging, rookies like Wilson who was putting up pro-bowl numbers before an unfortunate injury... the list goes on and on. What's killing the Giants is one thing, and it's coaching. The O-Line has the talent there (when it's healthy) but still allows pressure, something you really can't escape in this league to begin with unless you're the Colts, but hey how about not just straight up blocking the dude that's in front of you? How about trying something different? Stunts like KC and Denver run wouldn't be a bad idea. Just something different to throw at the defensive line. How about some decent play calling? My man Tiki was averaging 20 yards per carry on the first drive and what does Coughlin decide? Three straight passes. If Manning completes only 2 passes in the entirety of the second half, stop passing!

I swear I would call a better game in Madden than the Giants coaches have over the past couple of weeks. I'm going to have to call my boy Tiki and have him talk to Cocklick. I still hold hope for 8-8! :D

keep your strippers out of my American football
CK, I blame the Red jerseys. Only one team can win in Red Alternative jerseys.

I think you know who they are.

I hope bulger doesn't get sacked 5 times like i think he's going to, then maybe we keep it close. But even if we lose this game, we're still in the playoffs! :lol

No way dude, we play the skins next week!

...shit you got the Niners. :(

Warner was still being paid off by the Rams!

Edit: Watch for the hit on Curtis DeLoatch on Jacked Up. It HAS to be on.

i'm trying to think if there is anyway that i would forgive cedric wilson for his transgressions in week 2 of last year.

the answer is no. perhaps if he won the superbowl with a gamewinning catch i would completely forgive him, but aside from that, that is what i will always remember him for. setting the tone for our disappointing season last year

BTW, does anybody know who favre is playing against tonight? I watched the pregame shows, and all I know is that favre is playing his 200th straight game.

Governor Proclaims Monday ‘Brett Favre’ Day
Packers’ Quarterback Starts In His 200th Consecutive NFL Regular Season Game, A League Record For Quarterbacks

Governor Jim Doyle proclaims Monday as "Brett Favre" Day in Wisconsin in honor of the quarterback’s 200th consecutive start in a NFL game on Monday against the Saint Louis Rams at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. This is a league record for NFL quarterbacks.

"On Monday, Brett Favre will mark yet another milestone in a remarkable career with the Green Bay Packers," Governor Doyle said. "Breaking this record is a testament to the determination and perseverance that Brett Favre shows on and off the field. Wisconsin is proud of all of the contributions he has made to the game of football, and to our state."

Brett Favre is the NFL’s only three-time MVP, and is in his 13th season at Green Bay, which is more than any other player or coach. Among his many career accomplishments are throwing for at least one touchdown pass in 35 consecutive games - a franchise record and the second-longest streak in league history, and being the third quarterback in league history with 4,000 plus career completions.

Additionally, with the establishment of the "Brett Favre Forward Foundation" in 1996 and events such as an annual golf tournament, celebrity softball game, and fundraising dinners, Brett Favre has donated in excess of $1.5 million to charities in his home state of Mississippi as well as Wisconsin.

YES!

TD by the defense = No Favre cock jocking + less fantasy points for MrBob's STL D without the chance of Bubba Franks getting the TD catch!

"Brett Favre has only been sacked 5 times this year. Now is that because of the offensive line or because of Brett Favre? I say it's Brett Favre."

How can he say this stuff with a straight face? Seriously.

I don't know how he can saying anything with Favre's wang shoved down his throat. :lol

And the Packers are owning the Rams.

Nobody can stop our passing attack between the 20's. We're owning the packers D in that regard, but the red zone is kryptonite to us. cant even score on the pathetic packer redzone D.

bulger has missed some big pass plays so far, i think we'll put up some points now that we're forced to pass.
