goddamit, Griese!
:lol anyone see PTI yesterday?

TOSS UP: Who would you rather have as your QB: Kyle Boller or any Dolphins QB?

...

Tony: Boller is TERRIBLE. This kid stinks.

Wilbon: The Ravens are 3-2. If they played with 10 players and just did a direct snap to Jamal Lewis every play they'd be 5-0

It's pretty funny watching Boller play, he really is terrible. Steelers got a steal in the draft with Ben, but now is his real challenge, the next three weeks we play the Cowboys, Patriots, and Eagles. Damn those are some tough defenses. He played OK coming in against the Ravens but we lost that game so who knows what will happen this week, though he's been improving weekly.

I'm a huge Steelers fan but the thing about this team that still scares me is the susceptibility to the deep ball and the lack of a killer instinct on offense. That and the fact that the teams they have beaten so far are pretty mediocre. One thing I do like about them this year is they are MUCH more aggressive on defense and have that power running game back. Gotta thank the Eagles for Duce, Reid really must've been pissed at him last year for that holdout because damn, he's a player. I have faith the Cowboys are goin down, I'll say 24-17.

As for the other games? Sorry, haven't invested enough time in the other teams due to schoolwork so no point in even making picks.

Wright is much better than Boller. If Boller can hold us until Anthony comes back, we can do something big this season. Boller is not the QB of the future....unless he has been drugged the last few weeks, and the real Boller is inside, struggling to escape.

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.

Why dont the Steelers use Duce in the passing game? He is one of the best, if not THE best, at taking advantage of screen passes.

From yesterday's Baltimore Sun:

"Kyle needs to play better. Kyle will play better," coach Brian Billick said. "Kyle is our starting quarterback."

"Do you really want to bail on the guy? Do you really want to not support him?" Billick said. "He's a talented young man that's got a great future in this game, who's got some things going on around him that you have to take into account. I'm not going to make an excuse for him."

"I get paid to make these decisions," Billick said. "I believe in this young man, and everyone else should as well."

Falcons rank #23 in overall offense. If they have the #1 rushing offense tthrough the first 5 weeks of the season... Then what does that say for Vick and their passing game? Oh, I know! It says they have the #31 ranked passing game in the NFL!

We weren't talking about the passing offense, which does suck right now. We are talking about the offense as a whole. Bottom line, the run game is good, passing game is bad. With our sucky offense, we are still 4-1.

Actually, for the 3 Quarters of play Griese has, he IS lighting it up. I'd fear Pittman more than Garner, he's actually running well. How you're gonna be scared of a guy on injured reserve, I dunno. The WR corps is hurtin' though. :(

Bucs only chance is with their D? DUH. It's been like that for almost a decade....yet, that's allowed them to steamroll your Rams since 99, yes? :p

EDIT: For clarification, were you joking? Cause I was originally.

I'm just giving you some shit. :D
You guys have owned us the past 4 years(almost 5!), so i think this is the year we get you back.

The only thing I can figure with not using Staley in the passing game is that we haven't needed to yet. Yeah, the Baltimore game it probably would have helped, but in these next three games don't be surprised if we start to break that stuff out. Cowher has probably been saving some aspects of the offense for these games, and has also had to scale back the offense for Ben, so who knows when they will be implemented. I'd be surprised if he didn't catch a couple this week though.

Yeah, I know. Bucs O is too weak to give the D any level of comfort this year (which is saying a lot given that the Bucs O has never been terribly awesome - except last year). LOL This is the year of the Ram.

Please God, at least leave us with a Rams victory, our season's already over (statistically)... :*(

Dang....it's the NFC South curse! Run Bowser! You can expect another 10 players on it by week 16! Oh, and for Mushin Muhammad to be released for the remaining half of the season and for your GM to go to the Saints in week 12 or so. Hmmm....is it me, or are the Saints the only NFC South team without major injuries over the past two years....**X-Files music**

;)

Seriously, that's unfortunate, they're dropping like flies in Charlotte just like the Bucs did last year... :(

Drunky McMurder
My most anticipated moment of the season, when Brian Billick takes a look at his team and says "You know, I think we need to give some serious consideration to giving Kordell the start..." is coming up. I'd say the bye this week is as good a time as any.

As far as Duce, the Steelers just don't do passing to the running back. Nor do they use their tight ends...or fullbacks. Generally on passing plays they've essentially got 8 linemen. It's not likely to change any time soon. Of course, one can easily look at Staley now and ask "Why didn't Reid use him to run more, he's clearly a solid runner"

I wouldn't say that, but one could. I still don't trust him. I probably won't any time this season, just so I can distance myself from how angry I was with his signing.

Its stupid not to take advantage of Staley in the passing game either way. That is mainly how the eagles used him, he is one of the best at it.

What?

Edit: Owens to Ricky Manning Jr

"This ain't what he wants right here. If he wants to bring it, then bring it,"

"Cornerbacks try to talk trash and take me out. As soon as they do, two or three plays later, it's six (points). I hear it. I absorb it and keep going. I think I've done what I had to do on the field and it kind of speaks for itself."

Whaaa? You think it is a bad idea signing Staley?! The Staley that has 100 yards in nearly every game this season? The Staley that fights for tough yards every down because of our offesnive line? The Staley that is the reason why Ben Big is doing so well?

Please tell me I read your post wrong. #22 is one of the best signings the Steelers have made in years.

*confused*

Staley is a great running back, but Big Ben needs no help. He is the NFL Messiah. Sent to deliver us from the oppression of the Patriot Dynasty.

I was skeptical of the Staley signing at first too but color me wrong 100%. He's probably the best offseason aquisition we could have made based on our needs and our cap room, I just hope he stays alright with not scoring as many TDs as Bettis. Come on Archaix, us Nittany Lions need to stick together, get on the Staley bandwagon!

I liked the Duce signing from the standpoint that he was an excellent blocker and great reciever out of the back field. Two things at which Bettis sucked at, during any part of his career. Wasn't sure he would be this effective as a runner though, but that was more because I had fears about the o-line. Thankfully, they're both working well at the moment. Hope it continues.

Anyone else confused by the fact that the Jets get so much crap for having an easy schedule while the Seahawks schedule has been just as bad, they have lost one, and they are still frontrunners for the superbowl.

Roth looks awesome in his early starts. Pittsburg fans are going to have fun watching this guy turn into a superstar.

That is one of the reasons why I'm still pissed that Grossman got knocked out for the year in a fluke injury. Now, I don't know if he'll ever be as good as Roth, but you could see that he was starting to come into his own and was getting better. Now the project gets knocked back a year because of injury.

I am a Duce believer. Last year was a tough one to gauge from, since he got limited touchs. The year before saw him put up a 1000 yd rushing year and he could have done more in another system. The Iggles are just not made to have a big back and the focus is 100 % on McNabb. I doubted him for that year, even tho it was a 1000 yard year, I just thought he was coming off that injury in 2000 and would only decline in running.

I have to give him credit. He's tearing shit up in Pitt and it was probably better for him to make the move to Pitt and I am happy for him. Pitt needs to realize his abilities catching the ball out of the backfield. He has great hands, doesn't fumble, blocks like a madman, can put up another 1500 yd season, if they focused on him. And stop with the token TDs to Bettis. Duce would be leading the league in TD with 7 if he had gotten all of those token plays.

Panthers just have no luck at all this season. Hopefully they can be healthy next year to make another playoff run.

From an article on the Ravens new training facility:

"Purposely designed in a rectangular shape, the room enables everyone to be seen, from Jonathan Ogden in one corner to Ray Lewis in the other. Inside every oak locker is a direct Internet connection so players can surf the Web during free time."

Cool. Maybe they can search eBay for some WR's?

From the same Baltimore Sun article:

The players' lounge has leather couches, a couple of Sony PlayStations and a pool table with purple felt. They can play a pick-up game on their basketball court or hit the ball around on one of their two racquetball courts. And their meals will be prepared year-round in a full-service cafeteria.

The Ravens might not have much of an offense on the field, but they'll be able to kick ass in Madden 2005.

Willco

Hollywood Square
The Redskins players' lounge trumps all of them. It was built earlier this year and if you see it, it's amazing.

Man, 49ers fans shouldve warned us how much unwarranted crap T.O. gets from the media. Josh Elliot, some loser on around the horn, just ripped into him for crying about his grandma on inside the nfl. You have murders, addicts, drug dealers, wife beaters, and so on in the game but Owens is the one they have a problem with. You look at a guy like Shockey, blows up on the field, complains about his coach, attacks fans, has not really produced untill recently and nobody seems to have a problem with it. Maybe there is something to this race issue.

man, and didn't the Ravens trade up to get Boller too? They were pretty fuckin high on him during that draft. I remember all the hype being that he had the strongest arm since John Elway or some shit. He could throw the ball thru the uprights on his knees from the 50 yard line. Seems like mentally though, the kid just doesn't have it. Will Billick EVER live up to that "offensive genius" shit in Baltimore?

I don't think so. Maybe he's just a cocky, arrogant, self-serving jackass? And his infatuation with jeff garcia makes you wonder too. There are plenty of good reasons to rip TO

I hear Kyle Boller will dress up as a quarterback for Halloween.

i think in the case of T.O. vs. the media, they are both wrong.

first off, the media makes mountains out of molehills. T.O.'s celebrations were never bad, he wants to get people excited, and he is just a very open person. nothing wrong with that...

but by the same token i call bullshit on some of his stuff. like when he said the WHITE MAN TRYIN' TO KEEP ME DOWN! CANT CELEBRATE! last i checked it wasn't a "only blacks get penalties for TD celebrations!" rule, or only blacks named T.O. getting flags. do you see marvin harrisson getting flagged? you have to know that when you run to the middle of the field in dallas, that is going a little overboard (even though i loved it because i hate dallas)

owens is making millions of dollars off the NFL. what would owens be doing if he didn't have the athletic talent to be in the NFL? my problem with people like warren sapp and terrell owens complaining about this and that (regarding race) is that they are who they are because of this organization, if they want to truly make a difference and bring down this "racist organization" why dont they quit? and why dont they get all their buddies (who are also superstars and believe that the league is racist) and quit the league? dont think that'll ever happen
