LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) - Quarterback Tim Couch took a physical and worked out for the Chicago Bears on Friday, but the team has not determined whether to sign the former top draft pick.

The Bears were going to evaluate Couch's performance and decide if they want to sign him, team spokesman Scott Hagel said.

Chicago starter Rex Grossman is out for the season due to a knee injury and backup Jonathan Quinn has struggled in two starts. Rookie Craig Krenzel and Chad Hutchinson, who started nine games for the Dallas Cowboys as a rookie in 2002, are also in the mix for the Bears.

Wilbon talks down to his readers and the rest of his profession. Niether are as funny to me as they used to be. The two greatest sports journalists from DC in my lifetime are James Brown and Glenn Brenner... there is no argument about that. a little less than 4 years for me. Tony to me will always be a Style columnist first, a sportswriter second. Wilbon has always been meh to me as far as his writing, but he's great on PTI.

Shitty playcalling, you can't line a CB up straight over a WR and expect him to be able to keep up on a downfield route, all the while still needing to turn and locate the ball. Smart move is to have a safety come over, slow Johnson up while Bailey makes the adjustment, then let Bailey keep with him downfield.
