My bitterness aside, there's the Vick doubters. How many people said the same exact thing about McNabb when he was struggling with a corps of worthless receivers and a shitty O-Line? He gets pretty much one guy in TO and now he's unstoppable. Vick lead that team to the NFC championship a couple years ago in his first full season as a starter, and it wasn't a fluke. They are embarassingly bad without him. His backup may have posted nicer numbers in the preseason, but Vick's got the intangibles down...he can win games. Look at them now. Not impressive numbers at all, but they're a 5-1 team. Lots ot teams would like to have a record like that with a QB who hasn't fully adjusted to the system. I think people are right, they need to let him loose again. He may get hurt, but he's just as likely to get hurt in the pocket if one of his blocks breaks down. IMO, letting him run is better b/c most of the tackles will be coming from in front of him, in his field of view. Forcing him to stay to the pocket will allow him to be blindsided more often. Vick's whole style is based on his mobility. He can throw well on the run, just like McNabb, and he's a much greater running threat. Price probably padded his numbers in Buffalo thanks to Moulds being on the other side of the field. He's not that great. Can't seem to get himself open often enough. Give Vick a TO or Moss or someone of that caliber and he's gonna light up the scoreboard on anyone. I think Vick's getting the same stick that McNabb got, and that he'll be vindicated in the same way. They're both big playmakers, and with a proper receiving threat, they are hard to stop. The Falcon's D has stepped up big time, which means all they need to fix now is that O. Whoops, I bet I'm giving them the touch of death now. Watch Priest trample them this weekend now. :lol PEACE.

I agree with just about everything you said...

Vick is definitely a superstar, but he hasn't shown me that he can read a defense and be a great pocket quarterback. Still he can turn nothing into something (which is what I love about Big Ben, who also has this ability in spades). Time will tell if he is going to just be a great option QB or the new and improved version of John Elway.

The one big problem with Vick is that he has one of the most inaccurate long balls that I have ever seen. I guess when you have a cannon for an arm it's tough to put any touch on the ball. Don't get me wrong, he's a phenominal athlete, but I have yet to see him hit a reciever in stride on a 40+ yard pass.

The reason I bring this is up is because having a TO or Moss won't help if you can't get them the ball downfield.

He's still learning, no reason in having this discussion now. His team is 5-1 and look like they're headed to the postseason. We'll tell then how good he is or if he picks it up and starts posting amazing stats toward the second half of this season. He still is just starting to get back to where he left off prior to that injury that took most of last year from him.

And that's what people seem to forget, he is coming off a huge injury that effects his WHOLE game! It's not just a pinky he broke, he broke his leg...it's hard to trust yourself, injury is always in the back of your mind and trying to learn a new offense....he'll break out soon...

Eh, I still think the west coast offense is all wrong for his talents.

West coast is for guys with weak arms who have great timing. Vick has a huge arm and is more like an Elway where he just blasts the ball in there instead of timing it like a Joe Montana. But coaches are pussies, they just go with what is popular. The West Coast system is a great system but you need the right qb for it, personally I think that Vick's talents are wasted in that system.

uh the west coast is most certainly NOT for guys with "weak" arms. weak armed QB's can still have some success in a west coast (where they CANT in a vertical offense), but to take full advantage of the west coast offense you MUST have a strong arm. the west coast is predicated on a short passing game (sometimes in place of a running game) and a scheming running system. these are both used to setup the long ball. when a west coast offense QB has no arm, he cannot have much success, because that D could feasibly sit in a short zone all game and not have to worry about the deep ball. you have to have an above average arm to run the west coast properly

take a look at the most successful rendition of the west-coast offense, the early 90's niners! steve young had one of the best deep balls in the game, not because he could throw it further than say jeff george, but because not only could young get the ball 50 or 60 yards downfield, it was deadly accurate even at that distance. i remember in 94 he shreded NFL defenses to hell and broke all kinds of niner records. even in the late 90's (97/98) he was still having a lot of success throwing deep down the field. that is why we were competitive for so many years, because despite being deficient in a lot of areas, he always kept us in the game. he didn't do this by dinking and dunking. he was hitting dudes in stride 50 yards downfield with no loss of accuracy. why do you think he was brought in to "tutor" vick in the offseason?

why does everyone call it the "west coast" offense? The real west coast offense is the coryell offense, and it's derivatives like that which the rams run. The "west coast" offense as it's talked about today is really the bill walsh offense.

I guess you missed the game against the Chargers. He threw a great deep pass to Price and White in the 2nd half.

Not at all a legitimate complaint

and his recievers didn't get raped last year.

He'd have a lot more respect if he didn't have that offseason bitch session about that. Three of his four interceptions were absolutely horrible decisions for which he could blame no one else. And these new rule interpretation didn't help him in week 1.

Price's ball was dead on, White's kinda floated in, if the DB looked back he could have broken it up...i agree his deep balls should be more accurate, that said...he has an effortless throwing motion, it's just a matter of timming...i can really see him getting his pass % in the mid to high 60s...i think they need a TRUE number 1 reciever...i really don't believe Price is that, i think Price is a very good #2.

So does Monk make it in for this Hall of Fame class or does he get screwed again?

This year's first year class includes Irvin, Marino, and Young.

Other notables on the ballot (to me at least) are Charles Haley, Gerald Riggs, Doug Williams.

dude's got like 6 rings. If getting 4 rings was enough to get Lynn Swann in... ;)

But yeah, I don't predict inductions for any of the last three I mentioned, just those are players I like that are on the ballot.

I can't wait to see Owens crying like a baby the moment the Eagles run into a bit of a slump, or the inevitable choke in the NFC Championship.

like Larry Johnson?

or dick vermeil?

im sorry we might not win the superbowl...who knows about that but i doubt this team will choke like urs did last yr after starting what 9-0?

Are you kidding me? If the pass to Price was accurate it was a Touchdown. Instead he had to reach out for it and then promplty stumble to the ground. Come on, Vick is a great athlete but he's not perfect. The accurate deep ball is a problem for him.

nobody's responding to any trades I'm proposing in "The REAL Gaming Age League!"...I think half the league isn't paying attention to their teams...

:lol Larry Johnson is a punk, and no one wants him on the team anyway. Vermiel is emotional. Owens is just a whiny little bitch, who throws tantrums when he doesn't get his way. Big difference.

I was very happy with the 13-3 recod last year. And with the defense playing the way they had been, I wasn't exactly sold on them beating the Colts in the playoffs. The game was close though. Hopefully the Chiefs can salvage this season somehow =/

.

man, I could have sworn in one of the games last seasons he threw a 40+er that turned into a Touchdown....and while watching the replay, youd never think it would connect, and it does...

i forgot what team it was against, but I know it was the game where he also did a flea flicker...

RUH RUH RUH RAVENS FANS, TIME TO GET PUMPED UP!!

This quote from Ray Lewis will get you rocking for tomorrow's game.

R. Lewis encourages Boller

Linebacker Ray Lewis is the latest Raven to offer advice with the hope of keeping quarterback Kyle Boller's spirits up.

"I always try and tell Kyle, there is only one group of people you have to impress, and that is the people in this locker room," Lewis said. "And you don't have to impress us, all you have to do is go out and be Kyle. We've heard this scrutiny before, and I try to give him a quick story about Trent Dilfer. Trent went through the same thing.

"Tony Banks went through the same thing. But you have to stay the course and understand a quarterback won't win or lose a game for you, a team will."

Give us a good QB and we'll talk. I hope tomorrow's game can prove me wrong.

Wait a minute, James Lofton made it into the Hall before Monk? o_O I'm an old Bills fan, but Lofton was chasing Monk for a long time. I don't see how this can be. Hell, Monk beat Lofton's team in 93 in the Suprabrawl. WTF? Maybe he retired after Lofton, but I don't remember that being the case. Weird. PEACE.

Ok, i have a little RB dilemma: Here's my situation i have two RB slots and one WR/RB slot, here are my possible RB which one's would you start.

- Droughns ( a lock )
- Henry
- McGahee
- Moore (MIN RB)
- Zereoue

I'm going to start Droughns for sure, so two slots 4 RBs...i'm leaning towards Moore and one of the Bills RBs, i heard Henry is going to get 70% of the carries and McGahee getting the rest but i feel McGahee might get more out of 30% than Henry in 70....Moore has surprised the last two weeks...what would you guys do?

man terrell owens is a fucking prick. all he does is talk shit about jgar. let me lay some FACTS out for owens:

1. owens has caught 97, 93, 100 and 80 catches the last 4 years. who the fuck was throwing him the ball?

2. this bitch talks about Jgars "lack of arm strength" (which is a legit complaint), but i'm here to set the record straight. i have seen 99% of EVERY SINGLE play from every single niners game over the past 5 years, and i can tell you right now that owens dropped DOUBLE DIGIT DEEP BOMBS where he was wide open. not "got hit and dropped", i'm saying hit the motherfucker in the HANDS and he dropped it.

3. so, if owens can't catch the deep ball (and he can't, philly fans already know what i'm talking about, he has dropped more than a few passes, including one against MN which if challenged would have been called an incompletion) then he must rely on short passes where he uses his strength to get yards. garcia is a great short range passer. seems to me like a match made in heaven

here is a good article on the whole thing http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1906162

fuck owens dudes, he's being a little bitch. GET OFF JGARS JOCK! eagles lose this weekend and the jgar karma police emblem will be making an appearance on sunday!

I believe this is Monk's fourth year of eligibility. Lofton certainly deserves to be there, but it's horrible that Monk isn't as well considering that he retired as the NFL reception leader and there's two inferior Redskin wide receivers in the hall already.

This should be an ugly game. I can see overpursuit after overpursuit not covering lanes, and leaving Vick huge places to take off and run. :(

Prediction: Vick - over 100 yds rushing.
