In 1999, Ward, tied for the team lead, caught 61 passes for 7TDs from a Tomczak/Stewart QB combo. And he wasn't even a starter at the beginning of the season. In 2000, he lead the team with 48 catches for 4TDs from a Kent Graham (That's right, Kent freaking Graham)/Stewart QB combo. In 2001, he caught 94 from Kordell Stewart. In 2002 he caught 112 for 12TDs from a Stewart/Maddox combo. Last year, during an abysmal offensive year from a team standpoint, he caught 95 for 10TDs from Maddox. Now he's got 49 from a red hot rookie. He's just Mr. Consistent. Plays hard, blocks hard, catches almost everything week in and week out, year in and year out, regardless of who's throwing the ball. I wonder what Harrison's numbers would be like with guys like Tomczak and Graham throwing the ball.

Meanwhile, Plax has been up and down since 2001. Though I am impressed with his play at this point this year. Not so much from a numbers perspective, but it seems like he keeps his head in the game for the full 60 minutes now. It's like Ben has turned him into a new player. He was even blocking all the way down field on the Bettis' last run of the game yesterday.

Im not saying Hines is as good as TO/Randy,Im just sayin that he is most definitely in the top 10,I say top 5,but whatever floats your boat.

1)Moss
2)Owens
3)Harrison
4)Holt
5)Ward

I mean honestly, aside from those 4 guys who would you put ahead of him?

Hines not top 10 material, wtf?LMAO,c'mon FMT.Dude never drops a pass, seems to always find a way to get that extra yardage for a first down, easily the best blocking WR,IMO,among other things. He doesn't have the speed of Moss/Harrison,but that doesn't mean he can't take over a game.I'd also argue that he easily puts fear into DBs because he will absolutely knock your ass out after he makes a catch or while he's blocking,he's physical, the other "top" WR's will hardly put their bodies at risk like Hines will.

Plax benefits ALOT off Hines,I'll give you that, but in the past 2 years Hines has carried this offense, when Plax was havin rather off years.

I agree, Ward is the man. He's tough as nails, he plays hard every game, and always seems to have a great attitude and likable demeanor. I can recall several instances where he got his shit clocked going across the middle, and he usually got up smiling, often patting the guy who delivered the big hit.

And Andre Johnson is quickly climbing on that list...

:D

thinking on it more, i would put ward at #5, and the reason i say that is because i feel like he is the best blocking WR in football and i was thinking on just a receiving front. one thing i feel that is lacking from his game is the separation you see moss and harrisson getting from DB's. i will give you that he does hang onto the ball, probably as well as anyone in the afc. my list would go like this

1. moss
2. harrisson
3. holt
4. owens
5. ward

burress is actually pretty good too, but he is inconsistent from what i've seen. i think only the colts and rams could rival the steelers for best starting 2 receivers in the league

Put Randle El in there and I think we without a doubt have the best WR corp in the league, and that Duce Staley guy ain't bad, lol!

Duce was the biggest addition for any team in the offseason,IMO.Think about it,even if the Eagles hadn't of gotten T.O. they would have still been a good team, take away Duce from us and I think our season would be mirroring last years, cuz the Bus is not capable of running like Staley is doing this year, take away the running game and we become one dimensional, just like last year when we got embarassed for the majority of the season :(

I would just like to take this time to thank T.O. for one of the greatest celebrations of all time. Someone needed to expose the fraud that is Ray Lewis. The man that celebrates like he just won the superbowl after every routine tackle. The man with so much of a me-me-me attitude that he has his own freaking trademark dance. The man who constantly yells at the opposing teams sideline and fans yet somehow is still painted as a good guy who would never want to show up anyone. The man who let T.O. go across the middle ALL DAY. This is a reminder to one of the biggest hipocrites in the history of sports, YOU ARE AN OVERRATED A-HOLE.

You're smoking the crack rock. Ray Lewis is painted as 100% bad ass by the media, he's portrayed as a dominating intimidator. I got a kick out of TO's dance, but it was nothing more then a snub to Ray, not some political statement.

I just don't understand how the Niners are so bad with Dorsey but have a pretty high powered offense with Rattay.

Is it indicative of how good Rattay is or how bad Dorsey is? o_O

rat is the real deal.

the problem isn't only in experience (rattay has been an understudy for 4 years), but also in arm strength. rattay is 2nd all time in college fb in passing yards, he really lit it up at LA tech. dorsey, not so much. plus dorsey has a noodle arm, whereas rattay has a laser and can get the ball downfield better.

Please. If this guy did the same thing against a Philly team you would totally be ripping him. I will admit what he did was funny as hell, but don't go and try to spin it as some noble thing that TO did.

There is no difference between Ray or TO. They are both entertaining (and also talented) clowns who help out the NFL with their antics by making it more interesting.

TO is either going to go to another level in his popularity or setting himself up for one of the biggest falls in NFL history the way he is building enemies and spitting in the faces of his opponents. That is all good when you are winning, but everyone is going to the point the finger at him if things start to go south (like they will in Roethlis-burgh on Sunday!!).

Maybe im giving T.O. too much credit but i think he knows what Ray Lewis did last year. It absolutely sickening that Lewis would call anyone a coward for mocking his dance when he did the exact same thing to Porter last year. The only difference is Porter was out with injury making his actions much worse IMO. He got clowned by T.O. then punked himself because he couldnt remember when he did the same goddam thing. I would support T.O. if he did this to Lewis no matter what team he played for.

Edit: Rays logic does not make sense either. "Dont wait till you make one play"? HE dances before the game even starts, before he has made any plays.

While Dorsey may have a noddle arm, Rattay is built like a noodle. The guy bends and breaks with ease getting hurt all the time. :D

23-13 revenge is so sweet! :D Although it'll never ever truly make up for the Kordality of 63-7. But then again Kordality will never match the sweet, sweet nector of Mike Brown's OT reception returned for a TD to win the game in 2001!

The niners got punked by a rookie QB who handed the team 10 points from two consecutive turnovers in back to back drives. So sad.

Bruce is a better reciever than Holt. Holt had a big year last year because Bruce was constantly being doubled. Look whats happened this year now that Holt is drawing double coverage. Bruce gets his no matter what, and hes the most clutch player ive ever seen.

but that said, holt is still awesome.

bruce + holt > harrison + wayne > ward + buress

I hope we get the number one pick, but for some reason, i have a weird feeling that our stupid owner will trade down or do something stupid of that sort and get some bad picks, when the guys they passed will have amazing rookie years... come on niners, 9 more losses hahah.

This confidence points thing in the yahoo pick em is kinda goofy. Even though I picked the Jets tonight, it'll actually be more beneficial to me if they lose this game because I only have 5 points riding on it and will fall further back in the standings to guys who have more riding on it. It's all thanks to teams that screwed me like the Vikings and Jags who I waisted big points on. Grrrr.

I fuckin forgot to fill that shit out again,I was in 2nd place until I forgot to fill it out that one week =(

Yeah, you were doing good. I was hoping we'd have a 1, 2, 3 Steeler fan finish in the standings. :D Archaix knocked me out of second place by a point last week and put a few more up on me this week. We're both still trailing Deuce by quite a bit though. Gonna be tough to make up ground.

Thanks to the NFL's parity and the locked-in scheduling, we're always stuck with bad MNF matchups near the end of the season.
