NHL Off-Season 2015 |OT2| What are the Odds of Hockey in Vegas?

Everyone slow down, after weeks of hot takes some in the Toronto media are pulling back on their prediction that the Leafs could contend for a playoff spot.

The dream is over y'all.

So this is a little off topic and a long shot but who has Destiny on Xbox One and might be up for doing a Raid on Saturday night? I have a friend and I who want to do one but thought I would check here first before going to the regular thread. Also I have never actually done a Raid which is why I'm trying to find people who want to do one. Once again, probably a long shot but I though I would throw it out there.

Also on topic: Cleary, Leafs Suck, Larkin is God, Queens, Cleary, etc....

I bought Destiny and never played it, so maybe me?

You have no idea what you're talking about, especially regarding Lehtonen, the Stars have allowed 3 or more goals in all of their preseason games and believe me, that's not an anomaly.

Unless that by "it could be worse" you mean "at least you're not the Coyotes", then yeah, I guess you're right, but those are not the expectations set for this team.

in the context that you're a cup contender, yeah maybe you're right... then again I think a guy like Niemi is the type of goalie who can be okay with a strong defense in front of him, somewhat like Crawford

look we'll give you Emelin if you want
please take Emelin

He got him good. I think the ducks will do just fine with dealing with him.

Poor guy

And how can I leave out a classic Corey Perry Bait 'n Switch?

And of course, not content with replacing a piece of plexiglass with plywood, even more bullshit from the Staples Center last night:

The Ducks’ Corey Perry was speaking to reporters about his game-winning goal in overtime when teammate Ryan Kesler strode through the locker room, announcing to anyone and everyone, “What, there’s no almond milk in this motherfucker?”

I'm fascinated by how bad Barclays is for hockey, can't get enough.

From r/hockey, apparently this is where the guard stands all game.

I believe I would be forced to heckle this man for the duration of the game. I mean, they left me with no other alternative.

I supported the move to the Barclays, and still think it needed to be done. I just don't understand how they couldn't sacrifice some seating to accommodate the product that already needed to be retrofitted in.

Not only is Barclays ridiculous for hockey...

The players have to commute from Long Island on the fucking train

...why are they coming from Long Island?

I assume some of them lived near the old arena..
“I think pretty much everybody took the train today,” Tavares said before the Isles’ 3-2 win over Philadelphia. “I heard the coaches drove this morning, and it took a couple of hours, so yeah, I think the train is basically the best option for us.

“We’re on with everybody, with all the commuters. It was I think two lefts and a right to get to the Coliseum for me, so it’s a lot different now. It’s just the change, and I think we’ll get used to it, like anything…But I think it’s an experience we’ll all enjoy and certainly definitely feel like all Long Islanders now, for sure.”

That's where they live, and where their practice facility is located.

Feels like in the last...what, three years? There would have been some adjustments made to properly relocate. It's not a terrible distance, but enough that you could have embraced their new home.

This arena is such a shitshow... I wonder how bad a layout blunder would have to be before the league would have some kind of recourse.

I'm sure the layout will be adjusted over time, right? They can't possibly leave it like this for the next, what, 15 years?

It is a nice arena, even if it's not suited to hockey. It's worth fixing.

So the league obviously didn't have any input for this Barclay place. Sounds like a disaster.

The new arena in Edmonton is coming along just fine. Surprisingly, they're on time and on budget. One concern was getting the roof on before winter, but it's all done and they're working on the interior now.
The sight lines are good. They have a seat sampler set up for anybody who wants to try the seats from different sections. Apparently the upper deck is steep. I mean REALLY steep where you're right over the guy in front of you. A concern is that a drunk patron could easily fall into the row in front.

Here's the nice part. Some seats are actually going to be cheaper than similar sections of Rexall. A bigger arena means cheaper tickets. Rexall is such a dump. Good riddance.

So the new castle for King McDavid is coming along fine. His majesty will be quite happy leading Oil Country into the new dynasty.

Because Barclays Center was built without knowing the Islanders were moving in there.

The Isles were still toying with the Lighthouse Project at the time. Moving to Brooklyn was basically a last resort, since Nassau Coliseum was in bad shape and the Lighthouse Project didn't materialize.

Looks like the Nylander/Brown combination could turn into something someday.

I love it. I want it to happen to constantly remind Samyy that he didn't believe in Connor Brown!

It will end when he finally has enough and hits me with a steel chair right across my back.

Patches could play tomorrow night, I'd rather he wait than risk getting mugged by some Sens goon in a preseason game.

Nice seeing Lucic getting his too, he'll fit right in, in LA.

Oil send Nurse down, he's still not ready to play? Seemed like he had made decent progress

@GeorgeRichards: #FlaPanthers moves: Mike Matheson, MacKenzie Weegar and Shane Harper to AHL .@PortlandPirates .. David Booth released from PTO. Roster at 27

Matheson will probably be 1st on the defensive call ups, kid is legit though and should up with Ekblad pretty quickly. Booth is decent but there are kids there that are ready and better.

Therrien now confirming Patches will play tomorrow for sure, he is not human. Juulsen making his debut tomorrow as well.

Update, Leafs road radio crew will be traveling to road games again. Nothing to see here.

I thought they were grounded for ONE game. I read Coldnoodle's post again and saw "games".

Why were they grounded to begin with? Does it have anything to do with Babcock not allowing the media to travel with the team on the same bus/plane? I know Joe flew with the team last year.

Lou said no more media on the team charters. That's about it.
