How do you know Poile would have traded them? Subban has a massive contract. Taking that on is offset, and then some, by unloading Weber's contract that goes until 2026.

Bergevin got exactly what he wanted in Weber. Doesn't validate the trade in any way, but in his eyes, he made the correct move, regardless of how far the Preds go.
