Sometimes I wonder what I'm even doing in games, I take so long. 13 hours and I'm just exploring the forest zone for the first time :L

Well I barely did any sidequests at all. I was just so impatient to see what the game had in store.

Gonna take my time this time around, even if it's a bit trickier in b playthrough

Finished Route B earlier. I appreciated the added context to certain parts and the slew of new questions it added to the story.

I've heard real N:A starts with Route C. Pretty excited to dip into that later today.

Side quest are good so please don't avoid them, it provides great lore.

What's the chip called where you get a slow down with a successful dodge? Never found it I think...

Can't remember the name of the chip but I'm pretty sure there's a chip that does something very similar to that buyable from
Devola and Popola (<3) in the Resistance Camp as soon as their shop
becomes available to you.

Edit: The 'Overclock' one Ruff mentions is a reward for completing
'The Wandering Couple'
sidequest I believe? It's basically Witch Time from Bayonetta, though different rated versions are dropped by some enemies too (it's +3 from the sidequest).

yeah you guys are right, running around all over the place for these sidequests would suck, it keeps sending me back and forth. So, should I just go back to the
bunker
for now then? all my quests are sidequests and nothing has triggered after the
machine village
.

Date night with the gf tonight but I am already obsessing over getting back to this game. It has a very unique vibe to it that I am digging.

I thiiink I got a new transmission at the machine village
if you investigate down to the big wooden doors and then come back up?
Sorry if that's not accurate. It only sticks out in my mind because I got stuck down that path as part of a glitch lol. One of the online robot bodies spawned directly at the top of the ladder and I couldn't get back up.

Sidequests take some amount of time running around, but if you hold off until you get fast travel, it takes all the tedium out.

I went to that
big door and back and nothing. When I went back to resistance camp Pascal called me like "see we're cool right?" and 9S was like "fuck off you have no heart man!" and Pascal was like "oh ok then :( well you can come back anytime kk thx bai" so I guess ill go back there agagin...I do have to hand in the fuel for his courier quest anyway.

Hm, cool. Will look if I have something like that.

I can't get enough of the City Ruins vocal theme. I wish JP companies would embrace digital downloads, I'd buy FLACs of the OST in a heartbeat.

Oh wait, passing the fuel back and forth between the village and the camp? I think that's a main quest thing! haha I like your summary of events though. There's a good few smaller main quests that seem like side stuff.

Im finding myself having to just completely turn off from side quests for a play session just so I can make ANY progress

if so thats the second time I cant discern a main from a sidequest then, since apparently the
weapon shop guy and the other one early on in the resistance camp
was a main and I thought it was a side >_>

I'm about 80% of the way done with Route B,so will finish that tonight. This game is giving me them onion feels. Both the feels and the way it unravels on subsequent playthroughs. Can't wait to see what Route C and beyond have in store for me. The added bits of context really drive the desire to play through things again.

Plus, my Route A was like 15 hours, but I think my route B will end up about 4 hours ish. So that helps.

said this in another thread but im super into the creepy vibe even early on. From the
android "birth"
to the
opera house screeching boss
in the
amusement park
, some spine chilling stuff so far. Hopefully it carries on like that.

Whats the point of Machine Construction Sites? I only see a bunch of machines doing stuff?

You mean the quest? Stand close and look up at him, you should get a prompt

Just finished Route B, feels like
I just started playing Nier Automata 2
, when I get a new PC, I'm going to double dip. Game of the Generation for me so far, even with the annoying frame drops while sprinting around the map on a regular PS4, I NEED to play this again at higher resolution and higher framerate.

25 hours in, 71% total quests completed.

Does anyone have any insight on how to organize playthroughs in order to 100% this game? IE., should I be trying to finish all the sidequests during my first playthrough or wait till the last. Weapon upgrading will probably have to wait since I know I can't get all of them without hacking.

I thought Gravity Rush would be a lock for best soundtrack of the year, but Nier's music is fucking amazing.

So happy that this game was made and very happy to support it.

Youll be able to do everything eventually. You don't have to worry about doing many sidequests in route A or B. But there will come a point where the game will allow you to do everything. You'll know it when you find it. As long as you complete side quests at that point you can 100% everything

Haha, I didn't realize the Engine Sword gives you the Noctis Warp and FFXV style damage numbers. That's a neat touch.

are those different / bigger chests a later route thing?

Welp, I am a bit of a later starter on this. Picked up the PC version and really just got started on it this weekend. Ended up doing the prologue on Easy after dieing to the boss (45 minutes gone, doh!) and then switching back to Normal once I could save in the Bunker.

Last night I just ran around the starting Earth area and saw the sights while listening to the gorgeous music. I ended up finding the little spot where the prologue takes place and there was something sticking out of the ground there
Oh look, it's 2B's giant sword!
which I thought was nifty.

Honestly at this point I just want to dive back in and go as far down the rabbit hole as possible. Being a huge fan of the original Nier I just want to see what Yoko Taro has in store for us.

I was sort of lukewarm on this game for most of my first playthrough - lots of the sidequests felt like busywork and the combat generally seemed pretty easy (playing on Normal). The spectacle kept me going, but the story felt like I was skipping every other page in a novel. Ending A seemed a bit hasty and I didn't really understand
Adam/Eve/Forest Kingdom
.

Started playthrough 2 and immediately started to get why folks are so up on Yoko Taro.
Cold open with brobots was an interesting way to introduce the perspective-shifting, and the constant aside vignettes are great. The bit with Simone is heartbreaking and pretty terrifying - Jean-Paul is a monster.
Also, tried the trick with
self destructing with 9S to see if he had a near-nude costume, but made the mistake of doing it in the Bunker.
I laughed pretty hard.

Anyway, I'm in for the long haul here. There is a lot to see and unpack. I can definitely see why multiple playthroughs are 100% necessary.

I don't usually aim for Platinum trophies but I'm seriously considering going for it in this case, I want to squeeze the Nier experience as much as possible

How long does it take? Any tedious/boring/grinding-based trophy I should take into account?

Digital PS4 version here and it crashed two times already in my last hour of gameplay. Is it a common issue? Any known solutions?

crashed once in the first 10 hours i think, never happened again (70 hours)

the most tedious thing would be upgradin all the weapons to lv 4, but you can pretty much buy almost all of the items needed
from emil's store, pascal and the clown at the park, and the scientist side quest
that unlock a sidequest for a battle too

you can
buy the trophies too, if you don't want to bother.

I'll spoiler this just incase but you can
buy all of achievement/trophies in an NPC shop. Yes I'm serious

Coming up on 90hrs here on my legit 100% of everything done run, and still a fair amount to do.

Its hard to get a read on how long it takes because quests can take a very variable amount of time to do. Percentage complete isn't a clear indicator when some clear instantly because you already have the things you need, whereas others can take a lot of time due to the amount of exploration involved.

It also needs to be stressed that you need an above average amount of dexterity to reach some places, for an RPG at least. I'm sure experienced players of Platinum games wont flinch at these, but if you're not... working out how to string together long air combo's will take a bit of adjustment!

Not found anything to be overly tedious yet though, but then again my measure for those problems are finding rare stuff like eagle eggs in the original Nier, or getting a pure bladestone in Souls.

If you just want the trophies... you can do it no time at all
if you use the late-game cheat shop
, but honestly until I see 100% on all metrics I ain't stopping and I'm certainly not going to cop out by not earning my trophies legit.

The main thing though, is that the game actually facilitates getting everything done late-game, so you never need to worry about missing anything until you're more or less through with the story.

I wonder if this game will stop surprising me any moment lol Thanks guys, I took a look at the prices in a video and they are sold around 50k-100k. I'm planning on getting it in a legit way, but they're not that expensive in case I'm missing a couple of them

Finally had some time to start this game yesterday, taking a break from BotW. Made it up to when the
underground area was revealed in the main starting area and you have to fight those 2 goliaths.

I really like this game. The only thing that bugs me is the amount of backtracking and slow overall travel. I hope there's eventually a fast travel option. It wouldn't even be so bad, but they always seem to put subquests at the opposite end of the map that I just came from.

I also wish there was a higher density of battles. I don't really enjoy running around a mostly empty world clicking on shinies for hours.

Battle system is fantastic. So far my favorite weapon sets are
the starter katana + spear, and the 2 "dagger" class weapons dual wielded.
I'm not really a fan of the slower movesets of the other stuff.

The story has been interesting so far, and that
orgy room in the desert
made me have so many simultaneous feelings at once. I can't wait to get some more time with it tonight.
