NieR: Automata Spoiler Thread

Friendly reminder that Emil has murdered countless innocents and his whole existence has been nothing but a threat to those around him.

Y'all got taken in by the song. He's indoctrinated you.

Guys help me out, what other games kill off their main character halfway through the game? I know there are some but it's eluding me. Best example I can loosely think of is MGS2

It makes Emil say shit like "Heyo Friendo!" and other stuff when you attack with the Emil heads.

And yes, I felt like shit during and after that fight.
And you'll feel worse after the next one

damn, the way he speak after i beat him,he saying do what ever you do.

it break my heart to pieces.

why the game forcing me to do that? it's not me,i didn't want to do that :(

To me 9S is the main character, 2B was a red herring.

I thought I was sad when 2B died, but I literally felt so depressed when I wiped Pascal's mind.

What made it even worse was when you could find him later selling machine parts :'(

Yeh you already feel like shit when you wipe his memory and then the game keeps punching you in the gut.

The only time the game lets you feel relieved is when ending E happens.

He was turned into a powerful weapon by a fucked up government. He stopped his sister who could have leveled the world. Never has he intentionally or maliciously tried to hurt someone. When he killed people he was remorseful and filled with guilt. That shade would have wiped the town out anyway. Sacrificed himself for Kaine and Nier. Saved the Earth from aliens. #Emilisinnocent

I was going to spend the rest of tonight following guides getting as many of the trophies I missed out on as I could before I pick up P5 tomorrow and the Nier disc goes back in its box, but instead I just sold my materials and bought the last 17 trophies.

It's a bittersweet feeling of relief.

I'm really glad they put that option there.

As I was starting to wind down my time with the game, I felt like I wanted to do as much as I could before I cleared it, but I also knew that I'd resent all the time spent on tedious stuff like remote control combat, or tracking down every last ending, or leaving the game running for an hour while 9S sat around in his underpants. Being able to buy all the trophies disarmed that compulsion I had to do absolutely everything, and helped me leave the game on a more positive note.

Best platinum ever

Some of the sidequests are pretty cool though....

My plan is to just refresh my palate with P5 and do a more complete playthrough of N:A afterwards. I'm on steam so I don't GAF about achievements, I just want to see the story and side quests again with all the context in mind.

My plan too.

I did all the sidequests, except for Reconnaissance Squad because it was a pain in the ass.

I never listened to the entire Emil's song while in the game (always hit him before he finished singing it); this is great!

I won't feel bad buying the trophies if it comes down to it, I'm already almost on C route and I too am trying to finish before I start Persona and where there's no difficulty trophies and most seem to be on the grindy end of the spectrum its just like eh whatever.

I bought the last 4 Trophies I needed and then gave my save file away. Felt good ;_;

What an amazing game. Definitely my GOTY so far. Sorry, Gravity Rush.

Emil is such a hilarious mood kilker. When Devona snd Popola were sacrificing themselves in my playthrough he was cruising around, being loud an obnoxious. And not helping

Has he been a head since NieR 1 or did he ever get his body back?

Shh. You're going to hurt LotusHD's feelings
On the bright side, the room full of dead children was so overwhelming that he didn't have to confront the fact that he just sacrificed his personal ethics for the first time in hundreds of years for nothing.

Silver linings!
You're worst then Drakengard era Taro. Stop making me feel things.
He never got his body back but built himself a new body. Him, Kaine, and a younger reconstructed replicant Nier live together until eventually the black scrawl will kill the replicants leaving Emil alone again. :(
