NieR: Automata Spoiler Thread

I want a sequel where the androids manage to reconstruct a human from the DNA that's on the moon and it turns out the DNA they used was
Caim and things go horrifyingly downhill from there as you'd expect. Honestly, considering the 6-12 incident and how thoroughly studied Caim and Angelus's bodies were, if there is any DNA sample of a human left it's probably Caim's.

The androids are so desperate for a human that I'd just really like to see them get their wish. Only for it to go horribly wrong in that Yoko Taro way.

Make the sequel android A2 living the 7 days before the heat death of the universe.
She will still be an edgelord. "The universe is ending in approximately seven days" "I told you to shut the fuck up pod!"

Correct me if I'm wrong
I thought Caim's body was obliterated?
I really like this idea though.

Bringing humans back probably won't help things.

Remember, they still haven't cured WCS.

That's the point.

It wasn't in good shape what with the missile attack and all, but Caim and Angelus's bodies were taken by the Japanese government and studied.

They didn't cure it, but I thought they succeeded in purifying the world. If Gestalt Nier didn't die, humanity could have returned.

3287 - Destruction of the Legion
With the revival of Red Eye, the terror of the Legion returns. The world, which the Replicants had been protecting, is again on the brink of disaster.
An Android and four Replicants challenge the Red Eye, attacking it. They destroy the Legion and send the "maso" back to the other world. The purification of the world is confirmed.

Drakengard remaster comes out with a new ending F where A2, 2E and 9S somehow fall into the drakengard world to do battle against the watchers.

Drankengard 4: Androids edition.

Imagine experiencing that moment in a game like we were supposed to. How bad ass would that be? Maybe one day.
I'm telling you that motherfucker Red Eye is still kicking. It's lying dormant waiting for someone or something to wake it up.

In hindsight upon rereading that Grimoire Nier entry, it's kind of silly that some of us thought that Automata would close the loop in the series considering that
it was already closed when a modern day city full of maso was sent back to Drakenworld between Nier's prologue and the main game.
Blame the hype, I guess.

Part of me doesn't actually want the war against Red Eye to be adapted. It'd have massive shoes to fill.

There are pathways to revive humanity, theoretically. They could Jurassic Park humans with the data on the moon (though how they get there now is another question).
Don't think that's a problem if a machine can send probes to mars and back! The tech for space travel is there, the problem might be the biological tech, even if android have enough recorded data about humans, they really do show a lot of ignorance about how humans lived their lives, so I can see how the whole project could end in the most Yoko Taro way imaginable!

Did they send a whole city back? I thought they just sent the maso back.Shit maybe they sent Red Eye to Drakenworld?
Not a bad theory though. It's got me thinking.

Pascal's shop :'|

Pascal's shop :'|

What happened to Pascal might just be the most fucked up thing to happen in the entire series. He gives up his ideals that he's lived by for hundreds of years for the sake of protecting the children. Only for the children to kill themselves out of fear he instilled in them. He didn't even have time to deal with compromising his beliefs because the children's suicide was so overwhelming.

"I need your aid. I cannot live with this heartbreak inside me."

Just... why.

I just left the factory without wiping or killing him, Pascal and the other robots were turning more and more human by the day anyway, he'd probably learn to get over it eventually and start a new village eventually.

or you know...
he might have killed himself...

Considering he isn't there in the ending, that's probably what he did.

Man I'm picking up Persona later today and I'm not even excited. I wanna keep playing Nier. I'll miss it. I hope it won't be too long until I can get back to it.

first emil fight did this aoe when he's at like 10% hp and one shotted me ;_; can i dodge that?

the fight is terrible since i can't see shit with my pod's flashlight and each hit takes down half of my hp

My boyfriend is playing through it after I lent it to him, I think he's at the point where you fight Adam and then go to the factory for the "become as gods" segment.

He said he's unlikely to play through it again even though he's enjoying it, but he seems to be doing every sidequest and I haven't told him yet that sidequest completion carries over and so the second run will be shorter. Maybe that will sway him.

So the apologetic robots don't actually do anything? If that's just DLC-bait, or Yoko trolling, it kind of sours me on the game. I haven't played the previous ones, so I'm not sure if this is just par for the course.

If this game ever gets cracked on PC iI'm gonna have a great time hearing about how people can't get past the credits because its "too hard wtf"

Really, that's what sours you on the game lol

What level are you? Also, you could probably bypass with a hack since you have to fight him as 9S there.

Everything else about the game was fantastic. Is there something else I should be annoyed about?

It doesn't help that they're one of the few things left even after getting the true endings. Basically left trying to figure out 1 quest(Emil), then checking the joke endings, then realizing nothing ever happened with those elevators.

I should grab a "walk through walls" CE table and see what's beyond those doors, for curiosity's sake. Probably nothing.

Completed. Subbbed.

Gonna read through this thread l8r.
Looks at avatar. *tears* Oh God. For your own sanity do not read this thread.

Yeah, it's a pain it the ass. Had to use so many health items. Do you have the overclock chip? I kept dodging him and slowing him down with overclock then wailing on him. Try to keep your distance.

I'm not really dissing you or anything, I just thought that was funny lol

It doesn't matter.

I think a lot of people's enjoyment of this game is being...compromised? There's got to be a good word for this, due to how they consume media. People always want explanations or to know the mystery for things, like believing that something isn't a good mystery if they can't figure it out beforehand or didn't have all the pieces when it was never about trying to solve it but was a device or vehicle for the story.

Who created YoRHa is actually incredibly unimportant. It doesn't matter at all to the story. Some things you don't need answers for or to know because knowing it doesn't add anything to the story or have any relevance.

The characters and plot for this story are a vehicle for what it's trying to say or do. If you want a character-driven, surface but well-written plot like the first Nier than this game will disappoint you. I think very few games ever attempt anything similar to what this game is doing so people aren't really well-equipped to handle it either. When we speak of games having great stories or themes, we speak of them on a very simple level; it was a great story because it was told well. It had great themes because they were simple ideas that you can easily consume. Games media is incredibly new, relatively speaking, so it has rarely touched on what this game tries to do.

Maybe I'm being a bit hyperbolic but I honestly believe this game's writing stands apart from other games and because it's not told in the same way as most games we consider to have good stories or plots or characters we're not used to dismantling them or understanding exactly what's happening.

I can relate to this. I'm huge on Megami Tensei and it has major assets in mythology and, in Persona, Jungian psychology (especially in P1 and P2) that largely go unexamined and undiscussed as far as I've seen.

Yoko's games garner more insight into their themes than I'm used to seeing with games though. Is there anything you feel is particularly overlooked?

if they contract the half-wit inventor, they will make it to jupiter before the moon
