Night Dive Drops Heretic + Hexen Enhanced Upgrades on PC / Consoles - $14.99 (or free if you already owned these)

So amazing these are out, loving it, but not a fan of Hushults new soundtrack. Glad the old ones are there, as the new ones are super bombastic, originals gave more dungeon synth vibes.

They mention potentially moving to post-Quake 2 remasters...
Difficulty is rebalanced but the awkward maps are intact. Looks like there's no objective guide either.

I do hope that id Software or maybe even Raven themselves (if they ever get out of the Call of Duty mines) will work on a new Hexen or Heretic game.

Is the Cleric's shield new, or am I senile? (this is where you gaslight me by saying it was always there).
Anyway... Plays beautifully and works pretty well with DualSense & motion controls.

I wonder why is there a lock at 120fps. Modern DOOM engine ports can run these games at whatever refresh rate your monitor is, such as 240fps in my case.
Slap some Nvidia Smooth Motion on it for 240fps. It runs on Nightdive's KEX Engine, so it should be able to do more.

We mentioned it earlier. Seems to be new, and here's wondering how it affect's the balance of the game.

In any case the mace sucks, no reason to use it once you get the amazing serpent staff.

I'm so happy that Microsoft acquired these studios, mother fuckers give them all out for free if you already own them.

Gears of war reloaded - free if you had it digitally on Xbox.

Doom + doom ii Pack - released for free if you already had it.

And now hexen and heretic.

Old ass millennials being eating good lately.

And as freeloaders as well.

Celebrating 20 years of Quake 4 with fucking nothing.

Fuck quake 4

I tried playing Hexen but what an absolute pain in the ass. The levels are like labyrinths, and anytime you flip a switch or something you have to examine the whole labyrinth again to see what changed.

First hub is the worst when it comes to that imo. It's more or less linear but there's some assfuckery in the Guardian of Steel which is where I guess most people get stuck (I know I did lmao).

Yeah I dont know if this one is for me. Pretty ancient. Cool for fans though. The update seems really well done. Mods, artwork, new content.

Hopefully Nightdive gets Switch 2 dev kit soon; this should be 1080p 120fps / 4k 120fps on Switch 2.

LRG will release the game physically, no date or price so far.

Price is 35$.

Maybe they'll come up with a Collector's Edition. 👀

Hexen was the first game I played with VR when I was maybe 10, and that short 30mins experience completely blew my mind. I think I'll get this just for pure nostalgia

Sick re-release and surprise drop. I owned the games on GOG, so I got the re-release package for free. Still wouldn't mind buying this on Steam just to have it on that platform, too.

Some might question the new Shield for going against the vanilla game, but Parrying an Ettin's melee attack with the right timing to stun and kill it with just one smack of the Cleric's Mace is only an improvement compared to hitting it five times. And it feels good, so I'm okay with it. Like you said, the Serpent Staff is right there, and is the better option most of the time. Not like any balance is really destroyed with this.

But I am slightly biased to Parrying things after playing Texnoplazm earlier this week.

Bought. Keep them coming. Need Wolf 3d, Blood, Shadow Warrior, Redneck Rampage, Blake Stone, Quake 3, Unreal, UT99 and 2004, Eradicator, Descent and others from my youth. Oh I forgot RTCW.

Nightdive already remastered Blood and its glorious. Its called 'Blood: Fresh Supply.

I agree about Unreal though, that first game is amazing and desperatly needs a remaster.
