I still wouldn't ever play pc on a tv and couch but pc has a hell of a lot more to offer these days. That wasn't the case 5-10 years ago. You pretty much get the full playstation and xbox experience with mouse and keyboard support along with all the pc exclusive stuff. All the major console multiplayer games have cross play.

Yeah it'll be the Monitor and PC combo forever and even if I ever get a console again, I'll still be using it on the monitor. No point in getting a XBOX as all games or almost all of them launches on PC on the same day. PS has some timed exclusives that eventually comes to PC some sooner than later and I'm sure most people have plenty of other things to do or games to play so waiting a bit isn't a problem. Nintendo is the only one cause they got true exclusive but there's not that many truly great ones or not enough at least. Eventual built might just be a PC or a PC with a Nintendo console once more great games like the next Zelda or more Metroid, Mario Party etc comes out on Switch 2.

Why not both? we are not bounded with only one, there is no given rules that we should have only one. I have Laptop, Switch, PS5, even portable pc handhelds.

Not going to lie. I'm kind of floored by these results so far.

It's a combination of soaring console prices, the streamer effect, and DLSS making older, much more modest hardware far more viable than it used to be. It doesn't help that Sony saw Microsoft completely destroy their brand through a multi-platform release strategy and went 'we should do that too'.

Console. I'll always buy the console version of a game unless it's an online multiplayer game then I'll get the pc version. I really don't enjoy pc gaming

I ticked consoles ONLY for Nintendo exclusives. But, given the current economics around gaming today, I'm very likely moving to PC exclusively and Switch 2 for console. Will kill me as I desperately want to play GTA6 at launch but console gaming since Xbox turned into 3rd party and a rental service let me down big time.

Was always an Xbox and Nintendo gamer and Nintendo are the only ones remaining steadfast in console gaming. Sony I have zero faith in. Their 1st party games are turning to shit minus a select few and even then, they're taking FAR too long to come out.

So, gaming PC seems the best way to go (free online gaming) with cheaper games and better customisation. Switch 2 for Nintendo exclusives. Sony and Xbox can go fuck themselves.

Currently in the PS ecosystem because of convenience. PC is the superior platform besides that one aspect, though. It's even cheaper in the long run for many people, nevermind the fact that i gladly pay extra for better performance. Will maybe switch back to PC when PS6 launches and/or MS or Valve release a proper PC OS for the living room (if i can get for my custom build what Valve has already working on the Steam Deck, i'm happy).

Is Nintendo included in this thought-experiment?

Then, Console. I would never put myself in a situation where I can't play Nintendo's games,

If this is about traditional consoles, Xbox and PlayStation. Then PC is my choice.

Tbh I already made the move, when both Sony and Microsoft started porting their games to Steam I saw no real use for their consoles. I used to play on console because of the couch experience. But today I have a living room PC booting into Steam big picture mode capable of running anything I throw at it. So 🤷‍♂️

On Sony's side you have to deal with some timed exclusivity. But it's not too bad to go in late when games are patched long after release and when you can get expansions included in the PC release.

On Microsoft's side it's easier. I can add Gamepass games to Steam and I almost always get the best version on PC and day 1. There is still work to be done for older games but hopefully they add emulators into Xbox App some day.

PC gaming is not perfect though. Sometimes something is misbehaving, badly, and instead of spending your evening gaming you end up googling for a fix. Annoying. But Steam is so big that a solution is usually easy to find, there is always someone out there with the same problem.

My closest mates play on PC so.. yeah PC all the way.

Not missing much from consoles outside of big releases like GTA these days anyways. And perhaps one of two PS exclusives that'll make its way on Steam eventually.

PC. I think next gen will be the first gen I'm purely PC. I was buying Playstation to get the exclusives, but since they all come to PC now, I don't need them day 1 and this gen hasn't had much value for me so far. All the best games IMO have been 3rd party or gimmicky PC games like Lethal Company I've had a blast playing with my kids.

Next gen I'm PC and Steam Deck only

Laughed my ass off at the "an absurd amount of hardcore gamers here" lol where? It's fucking casual corner up in here all playing mainstream slop and fangirling over "the graphics"

What are the best platformadventure/jumping games on PC akin to Super Mario 64 and Sly Cooper 2? That's my favourite genre, but I've been having a difficult time finding a lot on PC. I'm asking for native PC, not emulators.

Im already not on both by choice so easy decision. PC.

Even if the question was PC or both, the answer would still be PC.

'PC gamers' who play upscaled console ports and f2p slop will never not be hilarious. Master race indeed.

Just curious. What does the Steam Deck fall under?
There are people who make the argument that is a steam Console that lets you opt into it being a PC. But I categorize it on what game library it plays natively* and it is the PC game library ergo PC.

Have you seen the Steam Library Posts. People be able to buy a nice Car if they refunded all their games. That is hardcore.

For now consoles.. I dont play online and dont mind waiting for buying games more cheaper and in better conditions even if it means waiting 1 year... I also dont have the patience to be dealing with any hassle to play pc games, I want pure easy couch plug and play, zero effort whatsoever (please dont @me saying pc gaming is like this, you wont convince me).

But I was on the verge of buying a new PC and the current nvidia/amd launch made me halt, the little difference between nvidia gpu gens was a wake up call that maybe the technology is stagnating and AMD is catching up, so I decided to wait and see what will happen in next consoles/gpus gens and settled for now with the ps5pro even if I dont think its too good of a "value" product (imo).

What's wrong with emulators?

I was always interested in pc tech, buying pc and gaming magazines from the early 90s, even when i couldnt afford any kind of pc(they were crazy expensive back then for a former communist country family, we talking multiple monthly salaries for midrange pc that turned irrelevant after max 2 years since back then tech advancements were very fast).

So early age even tho i was gaming at arcades or less poor buddies, i was always dreaming of building/owning my own gaming pc, i had pirated version of nes, og sega megadrive(genesis for my american brothers), then first playstation, dreamcast for just 2-3months over summer borrowed from my buddy, ps2, og xbox with duke controller, and then finally i could afford proper gaming pc which i did, with this monster of a gpu: ati radeon 9700 pro

Console wise i skipped ps3/x360 and wenst straight for ps4(thats when i started reading gaf to get back into consoles and make informed purchase, right with leaks/reveals of ps4/xbox one), then played a lot both on pc and ps4.
With terrible value proposition current gen consoles offer, on top of nasty paid online, im defo skipping ps5/pr0, dunno if i come back for ps6, so far only demons souls remaster and astrobot are only 2 games i wanna play and cant on pc, we will see how it goes by the end of the gen/beggining of ps6, but im guessing ps6 gonna have backwards compatibility so it wont be too late to play those 2 and hopefully few more true ps5 exclusives by then :)
Pc wise my rig is 9800x3d, 64gigs of 6000mhz cl30 ddr5 ram, and oldish(mid 2021 launch) but trusty rtx 3080ti( power of 4070ti/5070) so nothing crazy but good enough to game at 2x console settings or performance( aka any game console runs in quality 30fps mode i run at stable 60 at similar or better settings).

Console, for now. I bought a PS5 when I decided to get back into gaming a few years ago because of the ludicrous pricing of PC parts, and so far I'm pretty happy with it. Probably the things I miss most are mods and being able to play with M+KB in some games.
When the PS6 comes out, I will decide what to stick with, but right now it's not looking good for PC. A pretty barebones 9600X + B580 build is ~900€ in my region.

You know, I've been playing PC games since the early 1980's, and I love the platform.

But, my god. 'PC gamers' in 2025 are the most irritating, annoying fucking cunts on the planet. The fact that most of you are posers who are buying overpriced PC hardware to play console ports aside, the endless repetition of the same point is just so tired and insufferable. Yes, we get it. The world gets it. Online is free on PC. Shut the fuck up about it, for the love of god.
That's amazing! Tell me about Steam sales! Is it true that you can play THE SAME games you bought in 2008 on your CURRENT PC? That's fucking crazy!
Since Sony jacked up their prices and Nintendo revealed what they want for the Switch 2, the PC evangelism has become fucking insufferable. It seems like there's not a single thread that exists without some fucking idiot barging into make the same arguments that have been made over... and over... and over again - or to inform us of their VERY IMPORTANT DECISION that they've 'made the switch' and are 'never looking back'.

It's just boring and repetitive, day in, day out, in every fucking forum. I've been a predominantly PC user for decades, and hearing it ad nauseam is just becoming utterly insufferable. What is the point of this thread? That the retarded OP can give us an update on his feelings towards various platforms, and a bunch of mouthbreathers can chime in with their predictable, cliched, scorching hot takes on how awesome they are for buying a PC?
