I never made it past the Zodiac wheel in the Egypt episode (which is the second out of four episodes in Hexen 2) back in the day. I refuse to use guides, and I hope to get a chance to play Hexen 2 and take on this challenge again (i.e. I hope it gets a similar remaster release on consoles).
Edit:
Regarding Hexen 2, I clearly remember that magical moment in the Blackmarsh episode when I approached the castle, crossed the drawbridge, and looked at the water in the moat, to then wander inside the castle with all its intricately detailed rooms and furniture. id's engine in Raven's hands was something else back then.
I don't agree.Hexen's map design still sucks, it's a real slog to play. But new improved map with directions help a little.
Hope they do Shadow Warrior next.
You have my respect for that, as I wasn't able to complete either of them. Until yesterday evening, I had never made it past the swamp. Felt so good to finally beat it 30 years laterI completed both original Hexen I and II on the second to last difficulty without using any guide or hint, believe it or not.
Haven't done this, but I remember at least the Blackmarsh music to be extraordinarily good. And Hexen II played with no music is the best thing in the world, it was so eerie it reminded me of the first Tomb Raider.
Heretic maybe. Hexen, I don't know man... They either make it like the old games and most people get filtered or they simplify it and make it more accessible which would be a disappointment to the fans of the originals.I'll take this as a hint that we'll get a new Hexen/Heretic game.
Now, if you excuse me, I am going back to my hopium chamber.
I recall DOOM I/II remastered and DOOM 64 running at high FPS on PS5 level HW…How come Heretic + Hexen seem to run at high fps but all the oldie Dooms (even 64) are low fps and their modern source ports use interpolation to appear high when they're not cos it's something to do with their core function?
These games aren't far removed from the Dooms in features/years, did Night Dive figure out different ways to convert the games so they work in higher fps or they're using interpolation and just not showing it as an option at all?
So can you confirm if there is CD soundtrack for Hexen ?Its so bloody fast to what I'm used too. I only played the Saturn version mind

Given why they interpolate and given that it is the same engine with the same 35 FPS rendering target, it is likely that Heretic & Helen "appear high" too. What makes you say it is different and not just better interpolation (if it is better)?Yeah, interpolated to "appear high" like I said, or how it says higher "perceived" frame-rate in the link you added. So, anyone know if these are the same and just hide the interpolation option on PC too or actually run in high fps (and if so, how)?
I don't think Nightdive will be the one making a new Quake. How bout a new Quake first
I'm just asking a question and already gave that as one of the probable answers myself, but was looking for something definitive and instead got magical PS5s that run Dooms in high fps and EG links that reiterate things I saidGiven why they interpolate and given that it is the same engine with the same 35 FPS rendering target, it is likely that Heretic & Helen "appear high" too.
On the Saturn version yes and it's awesome. I would imagine it was the same for the PS1 port tooSo can you confirm if there is CD soundtrack for Hexen ?
