I got this off Darkhorizons:

"CBS and New Line Television are hoping to scare up viewers with a reality take on the studio's "Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise. Eye has ordered six episodes of "Nightmare on Elm Street: Real Nightmares," an hourlong unscripted skein in which viewers will be given the chance to confront their worst fears head-on. Robert Englund -- who plays Freddy Krueger in the films -- has signed on to host the show, sans scary makeup..."

They got it from Variety. :(

"Na..Nancy, Fred Kruger is dead."

Watch the first movie, when this dude says that line it's SO damn funny. It's like he's about to backsmack Nancy cause he's so pissed at her "dreams".

So is there incentive if the audience face their fear? Otherwise, why do it? Eitherway, it's another Fear Factor........ except with FREDDY.

Actually, I think it'd be pretty cool if they made it a sort of "fun-house" kind of thing. Have people set up in a house, make freaky shit happen, and have Robert Englund come out and scare the crap out of 'em. I'd watch a show like that.

This has been done before albeit without the nightmare on elm street title which I think is only tagged on after how the movie Freddy vs Jason showed them there is a fanbase.

I actually use to stay up at night to watch the Nightmare on Elm Street TV series back in the day on channel 33 ( channel 33 was the name of the station untill UPN took them over). They were cheesy but I liked them.

I would watch Freddy's Nightmares just to see the videogame commercials. in my area, it aired on WWOR on Saturday night and repeated on NBC later. cheesy show but still entertaining.

I always thought Tales From The Crypt was a complete ripoff of Freddy's Nightmares' format.

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
So basically... this has absolutely nothing to do with the films except for the name. None of the same characters or concepts. The only remote connection is Englund, except he won't be dressing up as Kreuger.

Talk about your lame cash-ins...

This show sounds something like the old show MTV had called Fear. They'd basically take a group of teens and put them in some abandoned house, boat ect. during the night they'd give them certain tasks to complete that had to do with their fears. It was actually pretty good.

Sounds more like the bastard child of Scare Tactics and Fear Factor, to be honest.
