Never played vanilla, the trailers for RE have me hyped. Disappointed it's not at PAL launch, but I guess this way we have you all as guinea pigs.

I want to see how much of an improvement this is before I think about buying it. The demo of the original NG3 was absolutely horrid.

If the reviews and impressions are great, I'll definitely play through the series for the first time in preparation.

I played all the way through a copy of NG3 on 360. My takeaway: regardless of how it compared to previous entries, it was a competent action brawler with a good set piece, boss, or sequence every so often. The biggest thing that hurt it was the simplicity of the combat and its repetitiveness, as the QTE/Steel on Bone system was both boring and difficult to use correctly in order to clear groups of enemies in a reasonable time frame.

Simply replacing the combat system with NGII style enemy patterns and decapitation / dismemberment may mix up combat a great deal. Just how much better this is, may depend on whether they've adjusted the layout of certain stages and how much the enemy placement and combinations are changed.

I'm willing to give it a shot after reading some hands on impressions with the retail version.

Is the thread title alluding to some profound truth? Seems so weighty for what I expect to be quite dumb. Like a dumb line of dialogue from a cheesy anime.

So this is Sigma 3 but with a different name,I wonder why they didn't go with their "Sigma" brand again.

Probably because Nintendo is working on it, and in this case they and team ninja are fixing Hayashit's work rather than letting him muck up the original game.

Will this be available for download in the US/EU as well as in Japan?

IGN's review is coming the 13th, so I would assume we should start seeing things by Tuesday if it's OK to buy.

Pretty much what I'm waiting on. Part of me hopes it turns out awful just so I don't have buy yet another game...but I guess I'll do what I gotta do it turns out well.

So apparently the game is going to be 1080p. Sweet.

Wish they did something about those muddy textures though.

From what I've been seeing on twitter this game is gonna bomb review-wise, as expected. I'm probably still going to try it since they put effort into it.

Edit: Oh the Pikachu with a gun is back!

Pretty much the only launch game I'm interested in. I'd like to do more on Wii U than play Wii games until Rayman and W101 are out so I need this to not suck.

Welp...

Go on. What are the people on twitter saying? I'll probably keep my preorder, but I'm curious.

:lol @ OP. But double :lol at using images. See your beautiful OP in five years. OH WAIT.

Hey dude. I'm on GAF mobile with Dark theme set as it's easy on the eyes. Guess if I can see the text in the OP.

The game is pretty much broken at its core, so it's not surprising that it still sucks even after they have put all this work into the new edition.

I feel this well be the first time I have a backlog of games to play in a long time.
I wanted to wait for reviews for this but maybe it will end up one of my day 1 DD titles

also want to know who the DLC playables are

I can't think of a single truly bad game that was fixed by a port. There are good games with bad ports. There are bad games with bad ports and there are good games with ports that are even better. There were a bunch of ok arcade games in the NES era that have for whatever reason amazing home console versions...though sometimes those are radically different games.

But a bad game turning good? Pretty sure that has yet to happen.

That's why this is so fascinating to watch. Would they REALLY turn this into a good game? Or is it just polishing a turd?

Gameplay might get some points up, but everything will probably remain the same.

It's gonna happen eventually.

I don't think current Team Ninja can do it. Hell even good TN had a rough time making a game as good as NG and even that perfectly fine game wasn't quite as amazing as the original NES games.

Yeah, might happen eventually. Don't think it will with this game.

I'd love to be wrong, but vanilla NG3 is one of the worst action games I've ever played.

The OP is magnificent. Perfectly captures the odd blend of optimistic cynicism this game deserves.

If Razor's Edge has Ninja Gaiden 2 combat and tolerable level design, I'm in. Having played the vanilla demo, I'm not sure what issues it has that can't be fixed. I don't need this game to be better than the action gaming Nirvana that was Ninja Gaiden 2; I just need it to be comparable. This genre is so starved of titles, copy-pasting Itagaki's work into a new set of generic levels will still be more exciting than anything else I play before MGR.

I really, really, really hope this game turns out well. I have to think that Nintendo wouldn't be willing to publish it if it was in the bad state the previous version seemed to be in going by how people talk about it. The launch trailer hooked me. Action games like this have been the type of game I haven't played in a long time I think. I've played action RPGs but nothing that is just straight up action like this.

The scene at 1:04 where Ryu blends in with the rain/fog. Is that part of the original NG3 or possibly one of the new abilities said to be added to the game? That was one of the scenes that me go "Oh yeah. I need to play this". Since it looks like the Wii U won't be getting Metal Gear Rising this should fill that void.

If anyone has played this at Nintendo's Wii U events or even E3, how does it control with the gamepad? Or is the type of game that might be more comfortable with the pro controller?
