Ninja Gaiden ::: What the sh*t?

(in terms of difficulty)
1. Shinobi
2. Kunoichi
3. Ninja Gaiden
4. Devil May Cry 3 (original)

The only thing hard about Shinobi was the final boss and that blind guy(I especially hated this mofo), I probably only died 8x throughout the whole game. I thought NG and DMC3 were pretty easy to, the hardest game this gen was Ikaruga! I suck at shooters.

I don't agree, I think the camera is awesome, you just have to learn to use it. It shows everything and it shows everything from up close so you can see and react to what your enemies are doing, unlike in GOW. It's silly to expect the camera to know where you want to look, you have so many options for attack and defence at any time, and it takes one trigger press to recenter the camera, with perfect speed too. You never ever have to be hit by offscreen enemies in NG if you know how to play the game, which is unavoidable in DMC3 afaik (not talking about GoW). Best camera ever, NG2 should have the same. Takes a bit of time to learn, but it would be completely impossible to use the second stick as you need to adjust it all the time during combat too.

I agree that the camera was (for the most part) fine for most of the game. I had some minor issues with offscreen enemies hitting me, but not any more than say DMC3 or GoW. My main gripe was with bosses. I get close to a wall, the camera flips and I get ****ed. Particuarly with Alma when you get close to the pillars. It's kinda funny because once I finally beat her the rest of the game was a LOT easier difficulty-wise, especially the bosses, even with some camera problems on them. So either she's the hardest boss in the game, or it was the camera.

Okay fair enough, then why the **** do they have the hardest boss in the game on like the 6th level? Seriously. That's just bad pacing there. I took down the last several levels and bosses like nothing.

I'm simply thankful that the camera never gave me any problems.

Honestly, the ONLY game where I found the game rendered unplayable as a result of a camera system was Dino Crisis 3. THAT was just awful.

I've never had any problems with the camera in any of the games. I can adapt to it pretty well, so it never really bothers me.

Also, i have to say...God Of War had to have the best camera last gen. It was perfect, and never had a single problem with it.

I do agree with C-Warrior about the top five hardest games though. Shinobi's level 6-A and the last levels are effing ridiculous. The last boss, is effing ridiculous, and playing with Hotsuma's brother makes shit ten times harder. I mean, Akujiki is a pain on it's own, but it drains at a ridiculous rate when you play with his brother (Moritsune, IIRC). You can't just dash past certains enemies and speedrun shit, you have to kill everything in site.

The problem with Nightshade/Kunoichi doesn't really appear until the later difficulty levels. You don't have akujiki there to force you to get souls, but, you need the souls to one hit kill the boss. On anything above normal, you have to 100% kill any level before the boss. No full Chakra gauge means a looooong and hard ass boss fight. That, and the last boss is in****ingsane.

She was cake in the original and black. Flying swallow made her so easy.

Only if you play on Normal :) But even on Normal, all other bosses were easier than her imo.

Yeah...I have no idea. I've played through the game so many times that I really don't mind. My favourite stage is the Military Base, especially the bosses :)

Well I really suck at these kinda games, and I just hit Chapter 13 today.

So if I can make through anyone can for crying out loud!!

Yeah the camera sucks, but it stopped bugging me around Chapter 3 or 4.

I preferred NG's camera after getting used to it. The very first level of GoW made me hate fixed cameras simply due to the 'walk the tightrope' platformy bit up on the ship masts. Putting the camera at an angle when youre forced to walk a straight line is stupid. I could walk a gymnasts balance beam in real life with more confidence and lower rate of failure than managing Kratos walking on those masts at a retarded diagonal viewing angle. Action games integration of camera and control should never make you feel like you could do something in real life with more precision or ability than the hero of the game...

GoW's camera, while sometimes offering up wonderful views, is also pulled too far back in most cases and you rarely get any close up visceral action like in NG. Some of my favorite parts of NG are when the camera gets oriented in a difficult spot and you end up with a more immersive cinematic view of things, rather than the same fixed angle from above every time.

The original camera is a ****ing joke...it really is terrible...I always thought it was funny how people were so forgiving of it...then I got used to it

the camera is probably the worst in any high quality action game I've ever played, but it's not like it cripples the game...f you ask me, the worst thing about the game are the first two(?) levels being the hardest levels in the game...play Ninja Gaiden Black, they fix the camera and also "fix" the difficulty issue I mentioned

I thought Kunoichi was harder mainly due to the poorly designed levels late in the game. There was one that took place entirely over three speedboats and I swear it was the worst level I had ever played in a videogame..period. Second place was the final stage that felt to be two hours long with all of the nasty platforming. I eventually got sick of trying to kill everyone(which didn't happen in Shinobi) and just ran through the last stage just to get out.

Final boss was a slut as well..still not as bad as the final guy of Shinobi(main reason I never beat the game).

Also to everyone complaining about the PUZZLES in an ACTION game all I can say is that these people are retarded. Same goes with the people complaining about the story. Rachel covered in oily tentacle grease is a far better storyline than twin brothers slapping each other around on top of a giant dong. Yes I'm kidding but again it's an ACTION game, story should be the least of your concerns.

Also Alma honestly isn't that hard. Then again I've gone through almost all of the Mission mode...now that's some serious shit. Nothing like fighting the abominable snowmonster while being chased by a neverending stream of catwhores, or trying to shoot down a helicopter while guys with rocket launchers at both ends take potshots at you.

I should get back into the game. Course since I'd be playing it on the X360 now I'd have to start from scratch...woe is me. :(

Even with NGB, I only use the new camera when I'm exploring, looking for switches and stuff. For combat, the trigger workds great with centering the camera, so I've never had a problem.

Oh, Ninja Gaiden's camera is so bad...
Oh, the controls in Gun Valkyrie suck...

You guys are weak. Quit gaming or something

Ninja Gaiden's camera is bad, but workable. I actually prefer it over the NGB camera

Gun Valkyrie's controls suck, however. There is no debating this. You got rooked, admit it. Only then can healing commence.

I got used to the shitty ass camera, but it would annoy me in certain instances. I didn't think the game was actually that hard (as hard as it's hyped). The only boss that completely had me puzzled was the 2 giant worms. The rest was trial and error. The save points were placed in retarded areas, though...and you get penalized for saving.

2 giant worms is easy with the Daiballaro(large sword). Also it would make sense for a game based on score/rank to penalize you for saving. The MGS/Silent Hill games did the same thing.

Note to everyone: If the game really isn't that hard shouldn't there be a lot more people beating Master Ninja and or Very Hard difficulty then?

Oh, the game's hard, I just think that the game's difficulty is harder at first when you have a limited movelist

also, burning bridge fight is the worst case of NG's camera *ever*...just be glad the enemies telegraph their attacks

Gattsu25 said:

True. Mostly I was just aiming that comment on all of the people that were all "blah blah seriously the game wasn't that hard blah blah".

I didn't think the camera was that bad. Then again I was cutting my teeth on games with bad cameras for a long time. I remember my first experience with DMC1 and the first boss. Nothing like the camera angle switching and then Dante jumping into one of those huge fire pillars the Spider set off.

So what exactly if different about the camera in Black? I never got around to beating the original and my friend has just lent me his Xbox again, so I need to rent either the original and continue from where I was (might just start over again) or get Black and definitely start from the beginning, but possibly have a better camera. I really didn't have any problems with the original anyway though. Is there enough extra cool stuff to warrant getting Black?

Optional manual control. Might help for some of the platforming; you don't have time to use it in combat. If you don't fiddle with the right thumbstick, you might not even realize the difference.

New enemies, a new melee weapon plus the fairly useless smoke bomb weapon, easier and harder difficulties, mission mode. Most of this was in the Hurricane packs, I understand.

Didn't you get the memo?

The best action games always have ridicuously hard bosses very early on.

I beat DMC1, DMC3, and NG on the hardest settings. With very little problem.

I gave up on Shinobi cus it was too hard.

You crazy man....you crazy.
are you ****ing kidding me? i thought you were some gaming god or something? in fact i never bought dmc3 due to ppl complaining its "too hard" constantly. dont have the time to "learn" games anymore.

shinobi was a piece of cake for me, i actually beat it while half drunk, after a christmas party. one of the best action games of last gen. then again, i always sorta "got" sega control systems i guess.

I liked the camera in NG. It made the action look more interesting and fast-paced compared to the static camera in other games. I've never had a problem with the camera either.

tsk tsk, thats the reason. I've had gaming sessions while drunk before (and other substances) and blazed throught the game where i normally wouldnt, you're more relaxed for one, so the stress of fighting a boss and constantly thinking "oh gawd, whats its next attack pattern", is not there anymore. Like a blade of grass in the wind :p

DMC3 DMD mode, Buggy may cry ; ;

Dude DMC3 is ****ing cake after you master and beat Ninja Gaiden. People who think DMC3 is hard are weaksauces.

i got extremely bored at the Monestary stage of NG and stopped playing out of boredom.

then I tried to see what the diff was with NG B, same thing.. I got bored again at the Monestary.

sorry NG fans, without a good soundtrack, NG gets extremely boring especially for walking to point A to point B segments

qft

On the first levels you don't have much moves, you don't have much potions, you don't know how to play the game either and it's much more harder than the rest of the game. The first boss is pretty tough too, his defence is just great.

Alma isn't that hard either, but you make a long way without any shop before fighting her, and the last savepoint make it impossible to go to any shop to buy potion.

You're high

Vergil 3 in dante must die mode + royal guard needs more skills to come throught than the entirety of NG.

I played NG before DMC3, still got owned in DMC3 (I was a master in DMC1). I played DMC3, then got NGB and breezed past it like it was nothing. Same for Hard, and V. Hard and some of the Missions. NG's bosses are pushovers compared to DMC3's, especially in DMD mode. Though I don't even want to try Master Ninja "One hit kill" mode... that shit is raunchy! :lol
