Since this is pretty much 3DS General, is there any new media or previews indicating the performance of Rayman 3D? I have it pre-ordered but I don't want a shitty port.
Gaf impressions suggest that it's an overall "meh" port. No graphical compromises from the DC version (which should be a given since it's a mildly enhanced N64 game to begin with) but with random, inexplicable framerate drops here and there. Guess it really depends on how common those framerate drops are as to whether or not it'll be worth it.

Wait, PES is a launch title in America?

Edit: Sure is. I never played PES (except ISS64, if that counts), but it's never too late to start. Can't for the launch game reviews to start coming in.

I believe this was a misunderstanding of the ability to install 12 different games at once for streetpass functionality. Which is already included, and works just great.

Thanks.

I dont usually like football games (soccer) but when I played the demo the 3D was impressive, one of the best I saw (I think it used the 3rd person camera, not the TV one).
I cant talk of how it plays against others becuase as I said I dont usually play football games (the ones that I most played were World Cup Football PC, that was given with some spanish yogurts :lol , I really loved playing that one in inside football mode, and some managing football games, that I liked becuase I love managing games).
I have heard some fans that said I played well, like the majority of other PES.
It was a Barcelona vs Real madrid, and I liked the representations of the players. The commentary was in japanese, but they said plenty of times the player names, although the commentary is very dry.

Hm. Getting tempted to buy Pro Evo at launch. The 3D effect definitely did wow me when I played it, and it'd be nice to have a decent handheld football game to play.

Does anyone know if Pro Evo 3DS will have online multiplayer?

Vook's website has it listed as no online.

Please be wrong Vook, please be so wrong!

This is almost a deal breaker for me.

I thought I'm only picking up Pilotwings for launch, but impressions for SSFIV and PES are making me thinking of splurging for more games and my wallet is crying in a corner.

I will NOT NOT NOT get more than the two games I already paid for at launch. SSF4 and Pilotwings. PES, Steel Diver, Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge Racer, and Nintendogs are all tempting me very very very much!

Gah, Nintendo, just take all of my money.

On a related note, I'm going to be in the city on Sat the 26th and I prolly won't make it to my midnight launch. I'm very sad about this.

EDIT - haha naked snake hivemind.

There's no online. Which is fucking awful because even the DS ones had online.

March for Japan. May for the rest of the world

:(

Say what? Where was it confirmed as a release title? Nintendo gave official lists of launch-day titles, and in neither US nor Europe was DOA on the list.

I keep forgetting about Ridge Racer, I'm interested in that one as well... damn it!

No online for PES is disappointing. Does it at least have local mulitplayer with one copy of the game? (Is that called StreetPass? I still can't get all those new buzz names memorized)

SSF4 would be great if I didn't already own it on 360. I just don't need a portable version.

Planning on just getting Pilotwings, and hopefully I don't go down that road with every new platform where I end up buying about 30 games I wouldn't have otherwise.

I'm going to discipline myself.

There are like 5 games I could have fun with on launch day. I'm having problems keeping my resolve to only buy 3 of them (Steel Diver, Pilotwings, Ridge Racer), holding out on DOA for a fourth.

Yeah, I still don't know what to get for launch. I recently decided that I'll go to the NYC demo thing and figure it out.

Right now, it's between Ridge Racer (arcadey fun), Pilotwings (shows off system well, not a big fan of the series), SSFIV (shows off system well, multiplayer, not a fighting game fan), and Steel Diver (seems weird, and I need to try it to believe it).

It's weird. In only a few months, there will be so much more. And a few months after that, same story.

Yeah, I'm between SSF4, LEGO Star Wars, PES11 and Steel Driver. I'll probably get two titles, so I guess Steel Driver reviews and impressions will seal the deal, since more or less I know what to expect from the rest.

As someone who has never played Rayman 2, is the 3DS version worth picking up? I know that somebody asked about the game on this very page, but more impressions would be much appreciated.

Also: I'm looking to pick up Street Fighter and Pilotwings so far, but I'm on the fence with Steel Diver and Monkey Ball (as well as Rayman, obviously). What's the verdict, if any, on 'em?

As said before, I'm doing this on the 25th:

Buying a 3DS with Street Fighter and Pilotwings. I will also rent out four games for a week, for a tenner at my local blockbuster.

I'm just debating which games those four will be. Hmm.

Ubisoft launch game...
Best to wait for impressions, but it'll likely be crap.
No one's played it, though, I believe. Not a good sign.

Here's a review of Rayman 2 on the Dreamcast, that should tell you about everything except graphics and controls, and possibly additional modes.

Konami are so lazy with online for all PES iterations.

Is it that hard to hire an experienced netcoding team?

Pull your finger out Konami!
It's really hard to hire an experienced 3DS netcoding team :)

For a while I thought I was dead set on my launch list, but now I realize none of them have lasting power.

Pilotwings (lack of content from what I've been hearing)
Ridge Racer (again, lack of content and overall familiarity = short legs)
SSFIV (Could be a cool novelty for a while, but I do have the console version).

:( Rayman please be good. Lack of good adventure platformers or rpgs at launch seriously sucks.

Rayman 2 is one of my favourite games of all time, so I'd say yeah, go for it. I've bought it three times now, twice on PC (for additional extras) and once at the DS launch. I also played through a ton of it on my friend's N64 (I never had one).

It's a truly classic 3D platformer, but it throws in some great twists to the mix. If you're a completionist, you'll absolutely adore the game. It's very possibly the game that turned me into one, actually. The collectables are both fun and challenging to collect without going over the top. Unfortunately, the sequel turned this aspect into a timing-based scoring game, which just didn't live up to the perfect collectable mix of 2.

I'll also be picking it up on the 3DS, but I'm waiting for a bargain price to do so.

I have the big fortune of not owning a version of SF4 so I'm going in fresh (except for having played it at a friends house). Yay for me I guess.

But I'm scrambling to choose my second purchase. Usually I would've bought DOA:D, but since that one was delayed to May in Europe, I'm left clueless between Nintendogs and Pilotwings.

I'm definately getting PilotWings. The idea of a squirrel suit won me over.

Steel Diver or SSFIV are up in the air.

Yeah, Rayman and Star Wars are the closest we're getting. Though Ridge Racer actually does have a lot of content...if like me you've never played the other RR games :)

Rayman 2 is actually one of my favorite 3D-platformers as well. It had a great visual style to it, the gameplay was great ( save for the camera which was a nuisance at times ), and the music was pretty darn good if I remember right. I *might* pick it up at launch as well, as it has been many, many years since I played it the last time.

The original Rayman, however, is a masterpiece. It is up there with Super Mario World as far as the best 2D-platformers are concerned.

Yeah hopefully. I need these games to last me until Zelda. Although I'd like to pick up some more 3DS games between launch and June, I can't ignore big purchases on the hd consoles and that eats into my budget.

I want Rayman because Rayman 2 is an amazing game, but it's a case of 'fool me eighty-seven times, shame on you, ubisoft'. I bought Rayman 2 DS in Italy years ago and it is such shit. And just judging from the Splinter Cell video, these be lazy ports. But if it is a solid port of a great game, and it seems to be of the superior Dreamcast version, then I might pick it up.

Right now I feel like I'm spending $250 on 'potential' and a game I'm cautiously optimistic about (Pilotwings). Reminds me of when I bought my PS3, just a tad less expensive.

Interview with Sven (Capcom):

Q: Capcom is big player in the handheld market, particularly in Japan. There are obviously some very exciting new prospects in that arena at the minute. How exciting is it to have that new hardware to work on?

A: Absolutely thrilling. We have a lot of projects that are in the works for handheld platforms. Stationary consoles, if you will, have migrated down to the portables. There's some really exciting content that we're talking about. I think if you look at 3DS as an example of what can be done, it's extremely robust. I don't know if you've had any time with it, but it's the console experience in you hand, plus, plus, plus more. I think that if you look at RE: Mercenaries, and a bit later at RE: Revolutions, people are going to be just blown away. Nothing I can talk about right now though.
