Nintendo Downloads - October 2014

DKC3 was released during fall/winter of '96 right during the N64 launch mania, I know I sure didn't care about it at that point.

Yea, I remember Wrinkly Kong sometimes is playing Mario 64 in her room, since you can hear an snes version of the castle theme playing on her tv. I thought that was so cool.

Basically the only thing wrong with it was that it had kind of assy controls compared to its two console counterparts.

But I'd gladly take it if they ever threw it up on the VC, because HM64 has issues and BTN wouldn't be available for obvious reasons.

FoMT is almost too content rich. I remember having a hard time getting into it out of fear that I was wasting time. Once I did though, wow.

For that simple pure HM experience though nothing will equal the perfect simplicity of HM 64. Just the right amount of stuff to do.

I don't understand when people say the 'best' Harvest Moon. Isn't FoMT the same as BTN, and that is the same as HM64? I have only tried FoMT and BTN, but from the little I played, they were the same town with the same stuff happening.

It's more like BtN is a sequel to HM64 and then FoMT is a remix of BtN.

BtN has the same characters as HM64 with remixed relationships in a new town. The mine is now at a scary depth and each tool has 5 upgrades. It's the first HM game to have a lot of depth.

FoMT is basically a remixed version of BtN with even more things added.

As someone who hasn't really gotten into HM since 64 (I dabbled in Magical Melody a little), I'm pretty stoked for Story of Seasons. Playing Rune Factory 3 over the summer helped me get in the mood for it too. That game kicks all kinds of ass.

There are a frightening amount of acronyms flying around in this thread.

HM=Harvest Moon

HM64= Harvest Moon 64

BTN= Harvest Moon Back to Nature, a Playstation game.

FoMT= Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral Town, a GBA game and very likely a Wii U VC title in the future.

Ahh, okay. I didn't really feel like playing BtN on my Vita or PS3, so I didn't play much. If FoMT does come to the Wii U VC, then I will get it and try and keep with it this time.

I guess no one will really have an answer to this but I'm thinking of selling my physical retail games to get them digitally (and just to make use of that DDP promotion before it ends)

what are the chances of seeing these games on sale before 31 Dec 2014? (I have all these in physical)
ZombiU
Sonic Lost World
Scribblenauts Unlimimted
Rayman Legends

Nintendoland
Wii Party U
Wii Fit U
Super Mario 3D World
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
LEGO City Undercover
The Wonderful 101
Wind Waker HD
Pikmin 3

I'm assuming the second list will be more difficult since the Smash sale just ended and they are all Nintendo-developed/published titles.

It's Nintendo. Don't hold your breath for any sales man.

Ubisoft games go on sale regularly every few months. Might be one more sale before end of year.

Don't expect Nintendo retail sales. It's likely.

not looking at (physical) retail sales. just really hoping there will be some discounts on the digital store.

should be able to sell most of them at the price I got them for...

No, I meant Nintendo games on eShop that are also retail (not eShop exclusive). that is what I meant. Referring to digital store sales, for NOA there aren't that many (Europe has 1st part sales every few months or at least once or twice a year though)

ah sorry I misunderstood there.
oh well. hmm :/ should have gone digital from the start

The third-party ones, and especially the Ubisoft ones, are exceedingly likely. Some of those Nintendo games are certainly possible, although I believe Nintendo Land isn't available digitally at the moment.

guess I'll make arrangements to sell them quick then.
hope I don't regret as my local retailer no longer stocks on them (once sold, I can't buy them anymore)

hmm

the question is whether I should rebuy LEGO Marvel (which I just sold) got it on the PS4 during a digital sale

Are the DKC Wii U releases coming to NA any time soon?
Or is it only EU exclusive?

Matter of time, obviously. Expecting it this week is foolish, though.

a) Smash Wii U-related sales promotion.
b) Holiday sales

some are very unlikely though, like Lego City. That has never been part of any promotion, iirc.

Does the Mario Kart DLC count towards the Deluxe Digital Promotion? I just bought it and only needed 85 points for a $5 code but so far I haven't gotten any points for it.

It says "As of 10/14/2014(PST). Information will be displayed within 24 hours after downloading at the Nintendo eShop."

How long does it usually take to get the points towards the promotion? I know it says within 24 hours but I was just wondering if anyone had some sorta ball park figure.

Thanks.

Everything spent on the WiiU eShop counts toward the DDP, so yes even the MK8 DLC.

You beat me to correcting you :(

(But I caught you partway through your edit!)

You saw nothing!

Gargoyle's Quest II and Demon's Crest on Oct. 30th!!!! Yaaaaaaay!

Looks like Aria of Sorrow's Oct. 16th date in last week's PR was a typo. Booooooo!

Is Nightmare in Dream Land a good game? Never played it.

Oddly enough I own most of what you list digitally but I am increasingly wanting to buy more stuff on disc. I am starting to worry about potential issues when systems get retire, services canceled, and the off chance something happens and I cannot access my purchases.

Most of what you want should go on sale, but if you are crafty and willing to search out deals on eshop cards you can probably come out even or ahead.

Odds are there will be a 20 or 25% off eshop cards at some retailer by Christmas. Combined with a sale or two and you are doing fine.

yea that's what I'm planning.
managed to stock up on eShop credit during the various Target and BB sales. together with DDP, buying digital is pretty cheap. and considering how I would probably never sell those Nintendo games, it's really worthwhile.

yea. that thought did bother me at one point (what happens if services go down, etc). honestly, I don't know but it's great to be able to enjoy the conveniences of digital.

It's basically an upgraded Kirby's Adventure with new sprites/sounds/etc.

Just to confirm here for people not following the DKC thread...

Despite having translations back in the olden days, the DKC that has gone up on the EU eShop is the US 60Hz version. Hooray!

I'm thinking about getting a Wii U, and I already have a Wii with about 20 or so VC titles on it (NES, SNES, N64, that kinda thing).

If I transferred over the games to the Wii U, would they then be 'linked' to the console? I mean, in the sense that they are currently 'linked' to my Wii (with the lack of an account system). I can delete and redownload the games as long as it's on that specific console.

In essence, would you have the ability to redownload the titles on the Wii U console at no charge, once they've been transferred? Do they somehow become 'linked' to your NNID? Also, can you buy and download Wii VC titles on the Wii U?
