Supposedly Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem

Yeah, I was a little unsure of whether it would be Atlus or IS working on that. Since it sounds like the gameplay is FE with SMT trappings layered on, I would think Intelligent Systems is making it.

Honestly, I think it's more likely that Atlus is working on the game. Maybe a guy or three from IS working together with Atlus on bringing the "Fire Emblem feel" to the game as well.

Yes, that's for sure. IS is a pretty big studio I don't think they are working on one project.

I agree, that seems to be the deal. Nintendo let third parties use their IPs.

I heard the opposite from some members here, that Atlus was making it.

Did you mean 3D? Cause I don't see MM getting an HD remake, unless Nintendo bundles it in with a OOT HD remake, which is probably not going to happen anytime soon. Also, I'd prefer Metroid Prime 4, I love TF and DKCR but I want to see what Metroid looks like on the Wii U.

Yeah, 3D is what I meant...silly mistake. And yeah, the idea of Metroid Prime on Wii U makes me pretty excited. I wonder if it would have multiplayer...

Regarding Shin Megami Tensen X Fire Emblem, the trailer says:

"ATLUS presents"

"Produced by Atlus"

And "Development in progress" with the ATLUS loggo in the middle.

I think it's pretty safe to say that Atlus is making it. And I recall some interview where some Fire Emblem guy said he was searching for the correct studio to make a nowadays Fire Emblem, until he found Atlus.

I'm exhausted tonight, and I'm back at work tomorrow, so I don't have the time to maintain the Hype Trains. Here is download link for the original .xcf files, as well as my folder of avatars that still need to be added. If anyone would like to take over, they'd be more than welcome to.

Hype on!

Does IntSys even know what the eff they're doing with Paper Mario?
They always try to keep Paper Mario prototypes away from Miyamoto, but because of his masterkey he finds everything.

And I thought Sticker Star wasn't that bad. The game was in between concepts, gameplay wise. That's what made the game weird I think.

That seemed to be the same problem for SupPapMar, which again begs the question, do they know what they're doing?

I feel like they think RPG is a bad word.

Strange, at first I was not that interested in this E3, but now I'm really curious how Zelda will look like and there were a lot of hints about other games in the meantime.

Main games: X and Zelda. I think at least one of them comes first or last. The only other game I'm equally hyped about is The Last Guardian. Don't let me down, Sony!
Smash is runner up for me, together with MGSV but still one of E3's most important games. However I feel I've seen too much already of MGSV.

Hypeworthy games that are very likely to be shown:
Fatal Frame (yay!!)
Pokkén

Wishlist:
Majora's Mask 3D
Super Mario Strikers
Metroid surprise

Sorry for the slight off-topic. :)

Ah, I think I was a bit confused. I was basing that on that exact interview, since the Intelligent Systems director said that he wanted "An FE game set in Modern Tokyo", but I had forgotten the part where he went around looking for a team to make it and found Atlus.

I still think that it's going to be an FE game with SMT elements, going by his comments, but I think that'd be weird if Atlus was making that and not IS. I guess we'll see how that turns out.

It doesn't seem like Nintendo has many of its 1st development teams currently working on announced 1st party games. I mean, there's really just Mario Kart 8 by EAD No. 1, X by Monolith Soft and Zelda Wii U by EAD no. 3. Wel,l we alos kow Retro Studios is working on a confirmed new Wii U project, but its not coming out this year. The rest of the announced titles are either by third parties or partially co-developed by a Nintendo team such as Intelligent Systems and unknown variety of studios handling Smash Bros.

Even if you include 3DS games this year, the only one handled by a Nintendo studio was Hals Labs with Kirby: Triple Deluxe and to some unknown extent of co-develop for Smash Bros.

That would be stupid.

We also know that Next Level had a WiiU game (at least at one time).
Lots of surprises could be coming!

Still keeping my expectations in check :P

Smash, Hyrule Warriors, Bayo 2, X, Zelda U, NFC game as sure fire hits.

Pokken Fighters goes in the maybe bin.

Will be gutted when Iwata inevitably presents the Direct. He's so emotionless, patronising and robotic. The Smash and Kart Directs were so much better without him being fully involved.

No, a Fire Emblem with waifu crap was stupid. A Fire Emblem (a spin-off maybe, like DDS/Persona/DeSu to SMT) in modern Tokyo could actually be pretty interesting.

The western fantasy setting is a huge part of the series, putting FE in modern Tokyo would be as dumb as a putting Zelda in modern Tokyo, it would also hurt the current growth of the franchise outside of Japan, hell it might even hurt the franchise in Japan considering how Japanese gamers have reacted to the very modern Japanese things in FFXV. Also the relationship stuff in Awakening was fun.
Advanced Wars on Mars. IS gonna IS.
I thought it was Fire Emblem on Mars.

Yes, but he's also the one who does unexplainable stuff like staring at banana bunches.

Whoa...I don't think he's any of that. lol
I feel his limited grasp on English slows down the pacing of the directs sometimes, and can be a little off putting to outsiders. I still like when he presents though.

Total Recall with swords and magic?

It would be a spin-off, which could eventually become a full-pledged franchise. I know the western medieval setting is a huge part of the franchise.

From what you're saying, you must have hated the idea of a Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem crossover, I suppose?

And the relationship stuff in Awakening dragged down the quality of the game. lol It would have been much better without that.

I like it because he gives English his all and I can understand everything he says and more and most importantly, his background lends instant credibility to what he talks about.

Lol, that would be amazingly dumb.

Why not just make it a different game, why call it Fire Emblem or even try to tie it into the FE franchise beyond the gameplay?

I'm fine with a crossover because it's a crossover.

I enjoyed it, it could have been better but it was a nice addition.

Cuz Fire Emblem characters are cool. I was just playing along with the idea of a Fire Emblem in a different setting, the possibility of such thing happening is 0.

So you're fine with a crossover but not with a spin-off... Hmm, that makes no sense to me. Both a crossover and spinoff wouldn't be canon, so what is the difference?

And lets agree to disagree. I hate this relationship stuff in games. I don't mind love stories like in say, FF8 and FF10, but stuff like in Awakening and in Persona 3/4 is kind of lame.
