I'm also not feeling the hype for this, alas. Sony's extravaganza was the best E3 conference in history, it will never be forgotten. They've got a whole console generation ahead of them to show things way off into the future, and the result was frankly magnificent. The earthquake from it has derailed the Nintendo Hype Train.
Nintendo's conference, a year before the announcement of a new system - which they are not going to talk about - gives very very limited scope. I'd love to be wrong, of course.
Ah well, here's hoping for Metroid at the very least. I'm thinking the most interesting stuff might just be new Mario Maker footage.
So Nintendo is releasing both a new home console and NX? (Because it has already been said that the NX isn't a traditional home console.)
So Nintendo is releasing both a new home console and NX? (Because it has already been said that the NX isn't a traditional home console.)
Announcements that were mostly not even Sony exclusives or coming in any amount of time. They literally announced pre funding for a game that will take years to develop. I don't consider that a strong showing, the big highlights could have been announced at any conference, Sony just paid the big bucks to get it at their's. Sony showed me more future PC game purchases than selling me a PS4.
That's what people want? Links to kickstarter projects? Third party games unrelated to the console? Exclusive DLC?
Not actual games they can play within a reasonable amount of time only on the system you're watching the show about?
It's a predictionit doesn't need a source. NeoGAF is about discussion. Just because you don't agree with that discussion, doesn't mean I should stop posting. Perhaps to add to the discussion, you can bring counter-points to my arguments and we can have a discussion.
If you don't want to add to the discussion except a "lolno", then please stop replying to me.
I find treehouse to be unappealing and lame. So many people are saying theyre the best doh... boats and floats.
Ok, let's see
- We knew since the Micro Direct that they would've focused on 2015-Early 2016 at E3. This doesn't mean that stuff outside that window can't be announced, though. Should I remember you all the times we got announcements outside the specified window in a Direct? It even happened in the last Japanese Direct.
- We also knew there wouldn't have been NX/Mobile/QOL. Why are people still surprised about that
- Going by usual schedule, we can make a fair guess about NX, and say that it's probably going to be a handheld. Or, going by Iwata's words, possibly the portable form factor of their new family-of-devices initiative. Which could indeed mean that, after all, it represents Wii U's successor spiritually, but still: it won't be a home console.
- It is possible they'll announce it and release it in the same year. I don't get why people think that what happened in the past (announcement one year, release later) is going to happen again, especially in the current social era, where you can pull off successfully a quicker announcement-to-launch period. The longest we'll have to wait for it is Q1 2017 (Jan-Mar)
- Personal opinion: probably 2016 will be the last year where we'll still see a decent pace of games on Wii U, 2017 will be when things will slow down a lot
- Almost forgot: No hybrid.
Except you have no points. All you're doing is saying "IT WILL HAPPEN! PROVE ME WRONG!" and pretending you have a point. You don't. Period. If it does happen, you don't get to gloat because all that happen is that your guess is accurate. Though it will help the Neogaf's vindictive culture.
You want to know why I don't think the NX won't appear in 2016? I don't. Because I don't care. What I do care is you coming to this thread repeatedly bringing the mood down solely for the reason of bringing the mood down. So what if it isn't showing up this E3? Are you going to be like that other poster and start begging for Nitnendo to die than you to be wrong?
The digital event will be underwhelming because everyone is so hyped up from Sony's event. Stop being unrealistic.
My "dream" is that we get a premium gamepad controller. I'd love one with an HD screen and a bigger battery.
The Wii was not a traditional home console either.

Can't agree with the bolded. Reading this thread, I'm not sure I've ever seen LESS hype for Nintendo's Event.
It was said NX is a "dedicated video game hardware". It can be anything.
I love the Treehouse stuff. I just don't have enough time to watch all of it.I find treehouse to be unappealing and lame. So many people are saying theyre the best doh... boats and floats.
Yeah, I can't wait until we see all of those game's Sony announced last night at the next few E3s as well.
Nintendo has the chance to cause some noise with games that will release THIS year or at the latest early 2016.
Nintendo de-hyped it. "No Zelda". "No NX". The message seems clear to me: They're giving us a low-key e3 before the hardware reveal of 2016.
I don't get people getting the hype killed by the lack of NX news. Wii U is in the middle of its ride, and 3DS is surprisingly steady.
Yeah, that's what people want in today's gaming world. That's the sad true. People want to be hyped. People want to be marketing guinea pigs. That's the true. And while it is safe from Nintendo to not do that it also hurting them a lot.
I guarantee there won't be any more Smash showings this e3. I mean we just got Ryu for crying out loud. With Star Fox they better announce Wolf is coming for Smash with some kind of promotion tied to people who buy Star Fox day 1
Same. And for Super Mario Maker too.I just hope they don't spend too much time on Woolly World. We've seen so much of it already

i have no hope anymore
Your first paragraph makes no sense. EA doesn't own Retro, Nintendo does. Nintendo isn't in the habit of killing off its 1st party studios. If it was, Monolith Soft wouldn't exist, let alone make an even more ambitious sequel to a game that quite frankly didn't sell that well.
Also, yeah, I don't believe you. I not saying that YOU will complain, but there will be a thread dedicated to complaining about how it isn't Metroid Prime 4. in fact, if it isn't a "dark" "western-type" game, there will be a complaint thread how Nintendo is wasting its western studios skills. If it IS a dark western-type game, then people will have a complain thread how its not Metroid Prime 4.
Also, nice to see you took insult to the word petty, because that is what this is. Petty. We're arguing whether or not a game Retro, which by all accounts have only made games they want to make, deserves to exist at all. If you don't like the game, don't buy it. No one's forcing you. Retro will continue to make games because Nintendo isn't EA and life will go on. Calm down.

Yeah like that time Skyward Sword moved to Wii U when it got delayed and when wind waker got pushed to Wii when it got delayed. Oh or when Ocarina of Time got pushed to GameCube..
2. Zelda being delayed is analogous to Zelda being delayed for Gamecube; there is precedent for a delayed Zelda to show up on two platforms, including the launch of a new platform.
...yay...that same aura of negativity and outright disgust is permeating Nintendo again. Hopefully this is just this thread and not gaming as a whole because I'm not looking forward to another year of "Will Nitnendo go third party" and a whole bunch of consistent negative articles.
Same. And for Super Mario Maker too.
Save that for Treehouse.
Of course this isn't gonna happen.
They already said region unlocking is something they will look into for the next generation, but will not be changed for the current one afaik (last Q&A they did, fairly recent).Guess that destroys any chance of region unlocking announcements. Goddammit nintendo why do you have to be that way...
Same, no yoshi - but a first look at the single player levels made by EAD that will be included.Yoshi might skip it (or just have a minute long trailer)..but I expect them to go into great detail with Super Mario Maker.
Why would they show the direct to 'journalists' ahead of time? Sounds kinda pointless to me with the risks involved.
