Nintendo E3 2015 Event Schedule

Meh, my hype has now dissipated a little... Wii U's on it's way out, so I don't see why they'd spend time brining big names to the system with NX or whatever just around the corner.

Nintendo's conference is probably the most nerve-wracking one because there is just SO MUCH that could go wrong. We know from experience. And yet there are some things that could go really right.

Like, you don't want to see any games we already know about. The main presentation is not the place for that. And yet you know Nintendo is supporting two platforms by themselves, they're probably going to have to talk about some of that stuff. Pimp Xenoblade again, pimp Yoshi's Wooly World again, talk about Splatoon's upcoming weapons and modes, maybe Devil's Third, an indie sizzle reel...I hope they don't waste time doing that but it's likely they will.

They have to show some 3DS stuff and that just doesn't play well in E3 presentations anymore because it's not graphically impressive enough. Heck that's probably half the reason Sony doesn't show Vita anymore.

They showed Blast Ball at the Nintendo World Championships, and I fear that it's Metroid's minigame representation in a 3DS version of Nintendo Land, which would go over like a wet fart.

No one will care if they introduce a new Wii ________ game, featuring Miis. Wii Sports Universe or whatever. Everyone's moved past those.

No one wants to see a sequel to any games that already exist on Wii U. They've exhausted their franchises there already. People will shrug at Super Mario 3D World 2, NSMBU2, Mario Kart 9, Mario Party Whatever, Mario Sports Game, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze 2, etc. They have to move on to neglected franchises at this point but I think they play things too safe and will want to go back to that Mario well again.

Not sure how well received Pokken would be. I feel like there's been a lot of "meh" from people thus far, probably because it's niche - you have to be a fighting game fan and also a Pokemon fan. Too many points of failure there. :p

If they show Animal Crossing Wii U most of the internet will yawn. I'm a fan of AC but even I know that it's best on handhelds. If they change it up radically enough it might be worth looking into, new camera view, a more dense town, that sort of thing, but it's still not going to satisfy most viewers.

They're probably going to show Star Fox. Could be good or bad. I have the feeling most people will be like "yep, it's Star Fox alright," or else "how dare they do that to my Star Fox, I just want the Star Fox 64 style again."

There have been rumors about a new Punch Out, which would be awesome.

New services/features could be well-received, like Game Cube VC, but that's probably a pipe dream.

New Metroid by Retro would knock it out of the park. F-Zero would also do well, especially if it's by much of the same team that made GX.

They have to give people something they didn't know they wanted, but stuff like Splatoon is once a generation. They tried with Codename STEAM and it didn't take, and that could happen again with any new IP.

So, I dunno. It's nail-biting. I've got a feeling it will be a flop.

I have zero expectations for Nintendo this year. With no new hardware or Zelda it'll likely just be a few fillers to tide us over. I hope I'm wrong.

People seriously need to put their expectations on check. The conference is going to be disappointing if you think bombs will be dropped.

I don't get people getting the hype killed by the lack of NX news. Wii U is in the middle of its ride, and 3DS is surprisingly steady.

It really was a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation, isn't it? If they didn't reveal that they were working on another console people here would be going. "Not much point in caring about this conference as Nitnendo's going to stop making games after this E3." Absolutely disgusting. So much projection happening on this thread.

They've already said about a million times that they're not talking about NX this year.

And NX launching in 2016/2017 doesn't preclude a good number of games from coming out on Wii U if that platform is going to absorb Wii U's architecture.

Focusing on games releasing this year and early 2016 pretty much rules out Metroid by Retro, right? DKTF just released in February 2014 and although Miyamoto said around 2013's E3 that he feels "they might be ready to work on two games at a time" (or something along those lines) this doesn't make me confident that a Metroid/other large scale game could have been in development for WiiU back then.

But Luigi's Mansion 2 released more than two years ago so I suppose Next Level Games should be showing something this E3?

...yay...that same aura of negativity and outright disgust is permeating Nintendo again. Hopefully this is just this thread and not gaming as a whole because I'm not looking forward to another year of "Will Nitnendo go third party" and a whole bunch of consistent negative articles.
It's weird to see all the crazy hype and happiness with Sunday's events versus today. What the hell changed, that people are so negative all of a sudden?

Do people really like seeing games they can't buy for 2-3 years that much? I know I don't. The best announcements are the ones coming soon, if not right after the Direct.

I was expecting at least one bomb from the conference but now that Iwata said only games from now to early 2016 then I guess it'll be just another boring and generic direct.

...we really are forgetful, aren't we?

E3 shows us games that will be released down the line despite talk about it being about "early 2016 games and before".

Then during the December Direct we will see games that will be released later that year.

It's not that hard guys. I mean, yes, you guys will push your narrative until it FINALLY comes true but give it a rest already?

Nintendo is releasing their new home console in 2016. It won't "finally" come true; it's about the lifespan I've predicted for Wii U since it was found to be a flop. 2016 is ten years since the launch of Wii. Gamecube came 10 years after SNES, Wii was 10 years after N64, what is the difference here?

They almost always say that, doesn't mean they won't include an early tease for some late '16 game.

Dude, there is literally no evidence for what you are saying.

We will probably get a "New™ Wii U" before NX.

I just managed to finally grab a blue Yoshi amiibo from amazon. It's a sign!!!

more eyes are on Nintendo today, I feel like

people who probably don't have an interest in what Nintendo does, therefore being hyped about what's next for them hardware-wise as opposed to what games they're working on

So do you think the new Mario game will be unveiled today? they have mentioned before that they are making a new one, but have not announced it yet.

my dream mario would be one in which they took all the different aspects of different mario games thorughout the years and combined it. one level your playing a 2d 16 bit mario game, then the next you goto a galaxy type stage. after that maybe a top down level like the one in 3D world, and then maybe a level similar to a sunshine level (the ones where its a bunch of floating objects you have to traverse). And an overworld similar to 64/sunshine/3d world/galaxy...

could be amazing

So many Nintendo games are announced and released within less than a year, why have this attitude? Nintendo doesn't seem to like announcing things 2-3 years out, unless it's Smash, but that beast is driven on pure hype, so it's a big exception.

Guys they said "until the beginning of 2016". Not to be that guy, but there's simply no way that they're showing a 3D Metroid for Wii U from Retro Studios, even if it does exist. I'd be super ok with a 2D game for 3DS, the only thing i absolutely don't want is a 3D game for 3DS.

I'm also not feeling the hype for this, alas. Sony's extravaganza was the best E3 conference in history, it will never be forgotten. They've got a whole console generation ahead of them to show things way off into the future, and the result was frankly magnificent. The earthquake from it has derailed the Nintendo Hype Train.

Nintendo's conference, a year before the announcement of a new system - which they are not going to talk about - gives very very limited scope. I'd love to be wrong, of course.

Ah well, here's hoping (improbably) for Metroid at the very least. I'm thinking the most interesting stuff might just be new Mario Maker footage.

I think people got hyped by Sony's trio of sacred announcements and just do not know yet what can top it.

1. No.
2. Welcome to 2012. I guess they should've just cancelled Wii U in 2013.
3. Zelda probably got delayed because the game wasn't very good, and by all means, didn't look that good as a game either.
4. Sony and Microsoft will be making new hardware. Nintendo only talked about NX to diffuse speculation that were leaving console business for mobile gaming.
5. Okay, so 2017-18 still.
L m a o if you think their next home console could possibly come out in 2018.

So what you're saying is... Pikachu Detective!

...ugh. I made myself sick.

I forgot about that game. Can't wait to see 10 minutes spent on it :p

Don't worry though, even if they spend to long on stuff like Wooly World, Mario Maker and Chibi-Robo, we know we will have at least 10 minutes on Retro's new Donkey Kong so it will be all worth it. Can ya dig it?

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Ok, let's see

- We knew since the Micro Direct that they would've focused on 2015-Early 2016 at E3. This doesn't mean that stuff outside that window can't be announced, though. Should I remember you all the times we got announcements outside the specified window in a Direct? It even happened in the last Japanese Direct.
- We also knew there wouldn't have been NX/Mobile/QOL. Why are people still surprised about that
- Going by usual schedule, we can make a fair guess about NX, and say that it's probably going to be a handheld. Or, going by Iwata's words, possibly the portable form factor of their new family-of-devices initiative. Which could indeed mean that, after all, it represents Wii U's successor spiritually, but still: it won't be a home console.
- It is possible they'll announce it and release it in the same year. I don't get why people think that what happened in the past (announcement one year, release later) is going to happen again, especially in the current social era, where you can pull off successfully a quicker announcement-to-launch period. The longest we'll have to wait for it is Q1 2017 (Jan-Mar)
- Personal opinion: probably 2016 will be the last year where we'll still see a decent pace of games on Wii U, 2017 will be when things will slow down a lot
- Almost forgot: No hybrid.

NX is only being revealed next year. If it's a console we'll be looking at a late 2017 release...but I think it's more likely to be a handheld (a slim chance it might make holiday 2016 if it's a handheld..but more likely to be March/April 2017).

I dont know about that. Wasn't there a quote somewhere saying that they'll like to release their console the same year it's announced to keep with the momentum. I mean the new 3ds was announced in Japan and released just a feew months later.

Not saying it will release 2016 but i don't think 2016/ early to mid 2017 is out of the question alongside with Zelda u/nx.

Your prediction makes no sense, and using Wii, of all things, as evidence makes even less sense.

I love how, bringing up titles that will be available in a reasonable time frame, spells doom and disappointment.

"Where's my Xenoblade X release date?!"
Xenoblade X @ Nintendo E3 Direct.
"Fuck this. I'm disappointed."

I knew this would happen. No one is going to be satisfied after this Direct, and will promptly label Nintendo doomed, because Sony won E3.

I was expecting at least one bomb from the conference but now that Iwata said only games from now to early 2016 then I guess it'll be just another boring and generic direct.

3d world was announced at e3 and came out the november after, and tropical freeze was announced at e3 and came out the febuary after.

just because a game hasn't been announced yet does not mean it cant be far into development,

source? if not please stop

:)
It's a prediction—it doesn't need a source. NeoGAF is about discussion. Just because you don't agree with that discussion, doesn't mean I should stop posting. Perhaps to add to the discussion, you can bring counter-points to my arguments and we can have a discussion.

If you don't want to add to the discussion except a "lolno", then please stop replying to me.

Hardware revisions are different from new gen systems.

to be honest based on what we know your "prediction" deserves a bit of a chuckle

at least in my opinion, humor is subjective after all

I think people got hyped by Sony's trio of sacred announcements and just do not know yet what can top it.
Announcements that were mostly not even Sony exclusives or coming in any amount of time. They literally announced pre funding for a game that will take years to develop. I don't consider that a strong showing, the big highlights could have been announced at any conference, Sony just paid the big bucks to get it at their's. Sony showed me more future PC game purchases than selling me a PS4.

That's what people want? Links to kickstarter projects? Third party games unrelated to the console? Exclusive DLC?

Not actual games they can play within a reasonable amount of time only on the system you're watching the show about?

It's the blowback from the Sony conference mixed with the idea that one company "must" win E3. Sony had amazing reveals, therefore, Nitendo cannot top them and "win" E3 therefore this Digital Event is pointless. It makes no sense to me either but that's the basis for the negativeity and outright hate in this thread. People aren't interested in games, they're interested in spectacle. This is why Bullshots trumps gameplay, why delayed announcements trump quick releases, why we have thread upon thread of people complaining about glitches and bugs in games. Because gamers love all the attention. It's no wonder so many scummy practices have popped up recently. Why shouldn't they? We deserve it.

So pretty much FE If will be the latest since Awakening with February.
No Zelda means Summer 2016 for the earliest release.
Zelda will be november 2016, it always is. What else would they have that pushes consoles..

It's coming in 2016. NX may not be their next home console, but their next home console is definitely 2016.
I'd put it the other way around. NX MIGHT be coming in 2016, but I'm quite sure there won't be a new console in 2016.

Not every game has to be a +40 hours "AAA" blockbuster - they could have 2 new IP titles like splatoon to show us, wouldn't that excite you? I'd say a failed platform like Wii U lends itself to experimentation.
