GAF, what if Retro's game doesn't get shown again?
OMG I need this
Sadness: A Game by Nibris from Retro Studios confirmed.Angry and sadness will happen I bet.
So they changed the name again.
The digital event is the format of comedic interludes and developer interviews, developer interviews being one of the things that killed the 2015 event.
I wonder if the Spotlight will be more like the new direct format, going at 90 km/h and rapidly showing games.
Prepare to be extremely shocked. Animal Crossing is too big a title to come out this year when it's already pretty full of big Nintendo franchises, especially if the heavy rumours of Pokemon and Smash ports coming this year turn out to be true. Wouldn't be surprised if that game didn't come out until Summer 2019 tbh. New Leaf took two years into 3DS life to come out.

I wonder if people prefer the route offers Sony, where games are announced and you won't be see them for another 2 - 5 years, or this
I feel like I'm in the minority since I would prefer it be DK over Metroid. However I think it will be Metroid.
If the Odyssey themed booth one ups BOTW booth I'll be jealous I won't be there in person.
I'm curious if the theory that Mario's Odyssey will traverse the worlds of games across multiple different series holds true. I 'm curious how Nintendo will handle the original Super Mario bros on pc.
I'm keeping my expectations as realistic as possible here, but here's what I expect, or at least hope to see.
Super Mario Odyssey - Duh!
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - English Trailer, and release date
Pikmin 4 - Trailer and release for Autumn this year. Miyamoto said it was close to completion, so it may come sooner than we think.
Rabbids and Mario RPG - I still find the idea absurd, but it sounds real enough apparently. I don't think it'll be published by Nintendo though. It'll just be a Ubisoft game that Nintendo licensed out the characters to I think.
Two New IPs, One from EPD 6 (the 1-2 Switch team) and one from EPD 7 (the Rhythm Heaven team) - This one's more of a personal hope on my part. EPD 6, headed by Kouichi Kawamoto, recently made 1-2 Switch and Miitopia, considering both were released within mere months of each-other, I expect to see something new from them at some point, My guess is some sort of music game. EPD 7, headed by Katsuya Yamano, is primarily known for the WarioWare and Rhythm Heaven series. I would like to see a new game from them as well. Perhaps Ko Takeuchi (WarioWare Character Designer) can Direct a game.
Retro's New game - Whatever it is
Fire Emblem Switch - Early 2018, Trailer, also a trailer and release date for Fire Emblem Warriors too.
Grand Finale: Metroid for Nintendo Switch - Yeah, I know it sounds like a fans wet dream, but I wouldn't expect more than a short gameplay-less teaser. I do think Metroid will make a big comeback soon though.
Don't expect Pokemon Stars (which if it were real, it would not be for the Switch, so give up that pie in the sky dream already), Zelda DLC, Virtual Console, or even online plans, those are non-announcements that can be handled in a later Nintendo Direct. This Nintendo Spotlight should mostly be just games.
Donkey Kong Country: Salt of the EntitledIf retro's game is gonna be revealed at the event I somewhat wish for it to be a DK title for the salt.
If Mother 3 is happening, E3 would be the perfect time. It was only a few years ago they announced "Earthbound Beginnings" at E3.
So then I guess there's not much to watch the "spotlight" for since we pretty much already know what's going to be released in 2017. Well, other than new gameplay clips.
If anything, this seems to indicate to me, that there's more new games coming up this weekend year than we know. And many of the the ones we do know, we have seem close to 0 of.So then I guess there's not much to watch the "spotlight" for since we pretty much already know what's going to be released in 2017. Seems like a stretch to me.
And 3DS struggled out of the gate because it took too long for its big hitters to show up. Remember, Wii U never got Animal Crossing and New Leaf was in 2013. I expect AC Switch to be shown and revealed as an early 2018 game (nearly 5 years after new leafs release).Prepare to be extremely shocked. Soras Masahiro Sakurai (Super Smash Bros., Kid Icarus, etc.)
I want to enjoy every day like its Sunday. However, that doesnt mean the next job hasnt been decided.
Sakurai casually confirms hes working on a game in the column, Source Gaming summarise in their translation. He states that while looking around the development room, theres not a lot of people who have developed for the Famicom anymore. Hes getting older.
Seems like a stretch to me.
They never said no 2018 games.I have a feeling that Super Mario Odyssey will be as important of a game to the Super Mario franchise as BotW was to the Zelda franchise. If it's got a large, epic scope, Nintendo could have the best game at e3 for a second straight year.
I also think we are going to see 1 or 2 additional first party games for Switch in fall 2017 that have not yet been announced. So I don't think there is any reason to be disappointed in the news of no 2018 showings.
I think they're supposed to be loosely based on different real-world countries. The globe in the logo, and Mario's involvement in the 2020 Olympics both make that a more valid theory to me. We've seen a New York level, a Mexico level, and an Egypt level. The food level seems like it could be intended to be the France level. The jungle/forest level could be based any number of real-world locations.
If there is nothing else coming out, sure. With more current game releases accompanying them, I just don't get it. Play what is out now and keep in mind what is to come.
I don't understand "fake hype" either. The game(s) will be released so...
But it's been a very long time since New Leaf and we're overdue a new real entry, especially as the mainline series skipped a Nintendo system for the first time since it's inception -
Animal Crossing - 2001 (JP Release)
Wild World - 2005 (JP Release)
City Folk - 2008
New Leaf - 2012 (JP Release)
Even if you count the two spinoffs in 2015 and the Amiibo update for New Leaf in late 2016, a new release in 2018 to tie in with the mobile game wouldn't seem to farfetched.
I wonder if we will hear anything on SMT HD/Octopath here? Those barebones trailers don't really help determine how far along they are in development.
Tell that to the people who were hyped for SMTxFE and got Idol Simulator 2016 instead.
The best course of action is to focus on current year releases, with a few teases of software for the following year, which is precisely what Nintendo will do.

When I read focusing on 2017 games I get the sense that only 2017 games will have gameplay demos on the floor and treehouse but they're gonna trailer tease and announce some early 2018 games.Rösti;236475774 said:For all of the time, effort, and money invested in Nintendo Switch in Nintendo's fiscal year 2017 ending March 2018, I think anticipating an event featuring only Nintendo Switch software launching this year is an act of precipitousness. They even write "a focus on games launching in 2017", so expecting a few surprises launching beyond 2017 I don't think is too far-fetched. At the very least I expect to see some new experiences and not just games we have seen before.
Why would anyone thing NLG is doing anything but Luigis Mansion 3? 2 sold over 5 million, why do people think they make Metroid Prime or Mario Strikers lol.
