Nintendo Music on streaming services

Just a thought, which may or may not be more realistic in the Kimishima era, but why can't we listen/stream or even buy Nintendo music from the likes of iTunes, Google Play, Apple Music or Spotify.

I'd love to listen to Koji Kondo's library and listen to the Super Mario 64 or Galaxy OSTs.

What do you think is stopping Nintendo making available their back catalogue of music?

Could've added a couple more words to that thread title...

I really do hope Nintendo starts taking advantage of its IP like this.

Why are soundtracks only available through rare points programs, which are now sunsetted?

The Pokemon Company has been better. You can buy almost all Pokemon soundtracks on iTunes.

Some current generation soundtracks I would love to get on iTunes or streaming:

Smash 4
FE: Awakening
ALBW
3DWorld
Triple Deluxe
MK8

I agree - it seems silly that they don't have soundtracks to all their various properties available to download on Amazon/iTunes/Google Play.

They don't have to manufacture discs, they could just make them available without much risk.

No idea why this hasn't happened yet.

I've heard it's not really possible to sell this OST due to its price and a lot of legal complications - that's why Smash 4 sound selection was available as a gift only.

It's all on YouTube anyway, but I would like versions I could own, plus better quality.

Well, at least there are the Pokemon soundtracks on iTunes.
Wonderful 101 is on there as well. But that's about it for Nintendo games :(

I would buy pretty much every Nintendo game soundtrack if they ever made them availavle digitally.

This is a big pain point for me and streaming services. If any of them were to acquire rights to stream Nintendo music, I'd switch to them in a heartbeat.

This has always seemed like easy money to me. Really don't understand why they don't do it.

While you can't get the originals, there are tons of playlists on Spotify made by users that combine piano/orchestrated covers of videogame OSTs.

Type in "Earthbound" or "Mario Galaxy" and you'll see a couple of good playlists. Also Falcom has all of their stuff officially on Spotify.

Capcom, Sega, and Falcom are all on Spotify.

Just checked: Apple Music as well.

I really wish Nintendo would jump aboard. There are so many people out there willing to pay for the music. If they don't want to stream, then at least sell them digitally!

The fact there hasn't been an official release of the DK Tropical Freeze soundtrack is a crime IMO.

They have Jet Set Radio + Future and Bayonetta, plus a lot of Sonic. I only had a cursory glance and didn't find a lot else but I could be wrong. I didn't see Streets of Rage though.

Sega doesn't own the music to those games, as Koshiro was an independent contractor. That's why he's listed in the copyright on the title screen.
