Nintendo announced Nintendo Music

At this point NSO would be considered the best value in the ocean of subscription services
I would tend to agree if the games selection was better. Too many publishers have their own initiatives to sell their own games, and not having everything in one place is kind of annoying. I would really like for, let's say, Square-Enix, Konami and Capcom to put their games in there. We did get a few on MegaDrive (honestly SEGA made the best effort on this service, the MegaDrive selection is very good, despite them having a ton of other projects to sell their own games). But whenever I open the SNES library I am like : where are the games I actually want to play on SNES already ?

I’ll never understand the Nintendo obsession with drip feeding content on a service like this. Like if you own the rights to all this music just put it all on the app.

It's about telling a story, bro. No good storyteller reveals everything from the jump 😉

Plus as sub services have shown, it's better to time-release content on a schedule vs. Day 1 drop of everything. Maximizes engagement and sub retention rates.

No, it was from Sony itself. They had Warner, Universal and some other labels and Sony threw on some of it's videogame music that they owned. It was called Mora Qualitas and it was sub-based iirc. Never tried it myself, stumbled acorss the name either last year or the year before when I was researching something.
Mora is a brand owned by SMEJ (not even Sony itself), though, and it's still a platform in which you can buy these.
Not a SIE initiative here.
" Japanese record labels weren't releasing music on ANY global digital platform". Don't know when that would be, MQ was relatively recent, announced 2018, launched 2019. I'm not sure when it died though. Wait, I checked, 2022, it lasted 3 years. https://www.hiresaudio.online/mora-qualitas-streaming-service-to-close/
Notice how I said 'global'?

I'd actually love a switch that does the coin jingle from Mario or opening a chest from Zelda.

I never said it was an SIE project, since I never commented on it(my point was the last sentence mentioned below)

Bolded: Launched by Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc in collaboration with Rhapsody International, with Warner, Universal and other labels on board.

Italics: Missed the global bit actually.

Point was Sony launched a music streaming service in Japan(regardless of division, it was still under Sony-the distinction was only made to seperate it from your intitial comment of 'on digital platforms', of which this was a Sony owned platform), on which you could get music from videogames made by Sony produced games. Which is now shut down.

No one shall be brought before our LORD David Bowie without the true and secret knowledge of the Photoshop. For in that time, so shall He appear.
They just added Mario Wonder to the app, and updated their playlists to include Wonder tunes. Hopefully we keep getting regular releases like this.

There’ll be a new release next week at least.

Would be nice if we could get a more solid long-term schedule than “from time to time” though..
