Nintendo announced Nintendo Music

I love that there’s an extend feature. I’d be willing to give up YouTube Nintendo OSTs so long as those games are in this app (otherwise fuck off with that, Nintendo).

It’s gonna be an insane day when they add Smash Ultimate to this. It’s sort of objectively one of the best soundtracks ever, but that’s basically cheating.

Actually, shit, I bet they’ll never add Ultimate’s OST since it contains so much 3rd-party music.

Well can safely say I didn't see this coming. Be good when they get more music added. Looked for a couple things that weren't there, like the Skyward Sword theme.

It's like they're doing an advent calendar with these random announcements.
Now what will tomorrow be?

lol I actually want that!
My son and I recently discussed how Nintendo was so dumb not to capitalize on all their great music, and grumbled about how Nintendo needed their own music app, but that they'd never do such a common sense thing....welp I was wrong, and happy to be so!

This is great. Some real jams on here.

Wish we could just have the music on Apple Music etc. but that wouldn't be Nintendo enough.

Look, I can deal with having to use a separate service for Nintendo music alone, even I like the idea of it attached to NSO since we're not paying extra and it's pretty cheap anyway... But why not desktop version? I only listen to music while working with my speakers attached to both computers, I and many people don't use the phone for music or video but computer, this is so limiting and I'm sure it will never be fixed

Honestly, the app is great. It’s extremely similar to Apple Music, which is what I’m used to. I really like that all the games have pre-curated playlists of the “top songs” that cuts out little jingles and sound effects from the playlist.

Now we just need way, way more OSTs.

I hope when they release new ones, they release like 20-30 at a time. But knowing Nintendo, they’ll slow-drip them to us over the next ten years.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
Nintendo in doing the most Nintendo thing ever.

Im amazed its standalone - I’m surprised you don’t have to go into the Switch Online app to launch their music from it.

I have nothing good to say about Nintendo, nor have I for quite some time. I want to like them again but they continue to be tone deaf, and their eccentricity has overtaken their whimsy. Call me up when they make something good out of the brand again.
Don't wait by the phone, go outside.

There's a couple nice features in there, like no spoilers and track extension.

But locking this away behind NSO makes about as much sense as the delivery of the narrator of ths video in the OP.

God dammit Nintendo... just put it on Spotify, this isn't the good type of quirky.

Lol, why would they do that?

You do know that if they could, most record labels and music artists wouldn't put their music on other people's services and pay the high cuts for doing so?

Nintendo have the fanbase and clout to do this, so why wouldn’t they?

In the long run it will be detrimental for what they are trying to achieve.

It's like when PC games that try their hardest not to be on steam.

People use Spotify and apple music etc daily. The built in audience there is disgustingly big compared to those who will download some app and subscribe to a special online service.

I just saw Kit & Krysta's video, and they said this is another step toward Nintendo becoming a big entertainment company, not just a video game company. I agree with that, since the Super Nintendo World, Nintendo expansion toward that goal is really fast. They already have Nintendo Store and Nintendo Museum.

Haters can keep hating.
Spend half an hour on this app and anyone with half a musical neuron will have to agree that Nintendo have some of the most talented musicians in the industry. And when they say the word, the Shimomuras, the Koshiros, the Nakatsurus and the Mitsudas of the world will come and contribute.
Yeah, I have other avenues to listen to Nintendo music. Just like everyone has other avenues to play old Nintendo games. Having options isn’t a bad thing.

Even SIE started to release its music catalogue on digital platforms for the past year or so.

Sony itself had it's own music streaming service, but only in Japan. They had the Bloodborne, Gravity Daze and some other PS game music on there too. I think it's shut down now.

First an alarm clock to wake up and go to work, then a music subscription service to understand that nothing in life is free.
I hope they announce the Nintendo annual income taxe return© next, and finally fullfill Iwata secret dream of turning nintenboys into men.

Why would you drip feed music? People listen to songs/albums multiple times. Wouldnt the users be more inclined to stay subscribed to NSO with a MASSIVE library of Nintendo music?
