I don't think so, he's spending too much time on GAF reading people's impressions on nintendo WiFiTeddman said:Mrbob, have you even played a game over Nintendo Wi-Fi?

It's very easy to get online and it's a ton of fun. And it's inarguably easier to setup and play than Xbox Live. The featureset is not as roboust, but you can't claim NWiFi is more complicated.
jedimike said:Come on now... Nintendo has been messing with on-line gaming for 15 years. They also had a network adapter that came out in 2001. Don't be making excuses for these guys. Nintendo should have done a much better job. Nobody cut MS any slack when XBL arrived on scene... and nobody had to. It worked very well.
If Nintendo hadn't made such a big fuss about NOT going on-line back in 2001, then they wouldn't be receiving the negative feedback now. They raised the bar for themselves by saying they wanted it to be easier for consumers. They didn't deliver. Sure, getting Mario Kart on-line isn't rocket science... neither is XBL or PS2. In fact, Nintendo was stupid for saying it was difficult in the first place. However, Nintendo made it MORE difficult than it needed to be. So you got your WEP and friends into Mario Kart. Not as easy to do as XBL, but not difficult. Now, put in Animal Crossing... are your friends there? Is your WEP there? Hell no, you have to go through the process again and again and again.
I guess I'm just bitter that Nintendo had a bunch of excuses that everyone defended for not going on-line with GC... now that DS is on-line, suddenly those excuses don't apply and now we get to make up a whole new set of excuses for the not so optimal implementation.
The whole code thing is to protect kids from all of the pitfalls of online gaming(swearing, jerks, etc..)

Mrbob said:On the contrary, with a free service you'll have many more idiots online to ruin your fun. Enjoy!
no, but you at least need to try it berfore bitching about itMrbob said:You don't need to be a rocket scientist to piece things together by what people have wrote.

this has nothing to do with the DS specifically.. welcome to the wonderful world of wifi.. one of the only technologies I have ever seen that hit primetime without being even close to ready for it. well, that and Star Wars Galaxies.dream said:QFT.
I still can't believe I had to drop the transmission speed on my router to 2mbit/s just to play Mario Kart online.
:lolMrbob said:Yeah and those fees besides Live and the console exist solely for Xbox Live. Roll eyes that argument is weak. You forgot about the electric bill and the TV and surround sound system needed to play the games as well. May as well add it to the list. Oh and lets not forget about the money in gas it costs me to drive to the store and back to buy a game.
seriously .... MrBob you are pushing it.Mrbob said:You don't need to be a rocket scientist to piece things together by what people have wrote.
TheDuce22 said:The service is ghetto as hell. I didnt read the thread but i hope people arent trying to compare it to xbox live.
siamesedreamer said:I think the only thing I would change would to allow you to keep more than one WEP thingy in your memory. I have the exact same wireless Linksys G network at my office as I do at my apartment (my dad set them both up). Hell, they're even named the same thing. But, they have different WEP thingys. So, it would be nice to be able to toggle between the different WEP numbers instead of having to manually input them everytime.
The friends thing is obviously there so you can beat fellow forumers and then taunt them about it in stickied threads.darscot said:I don't really see the need for the whole friends thing at all. The only reason I ever wanted to have friends in a game is so I didn't have to comunicate with all the idiots out there. Since I can't comunicate with them I could care less who my opponent is. It actually rather nice.

It'll be questionable when AC comes out, but right now PSP.Oblivion said:So now I'm curious. What has the better service, the DS or PSP?
This ain't a troll, by the way. I haven't tried either online, and wanna know.
tt_deeb said:I'm going to have to wait 'till Animal Crossing to see how things pan out for me. If all I have to do is buy the game and find a hot spot it's going to be very hard for me to find a reason to complain. Where exactly can I find these hot spots? I know a coffee shop in my local mall has a huge sign saying "Free Wi-fi." Would that be sufficient enough or do I need a specific location that's Nintendo approved?
True, however, they wanted everyone with MKDS to try WFC at least once.GaimeGuy said:If nintendo wants to REALLY get NWC a lot of users (both for DS and Rev), they should include the dongle with DS and Rev hardware purchases.
If it's not protected you'll get online.tt_deeb said:Please answer.
