More importantly, who is it developed by? I would be really surprised if Nintendo was developing it. That would be quite the surprise.

As for Another, someone mentioned an article earlier which said it was a graphical adventure game that used the touch screen for object and item usage. From other screens it looked like you could assemble broken pieces of a sign and other similiar types of deals to solve puzzles.

The war has been going on for quite some time. It's a cold war, and Nintendo are showing off some of their weapons of mass destruction now.

Will be interesting to see if Sony have been building even bigger missiles as a countermove.

The good thing with this war is, we will win. :D

gamefront.de mentions something about downloadable games. You'll be able to download them in a shop, but the games will only be playable for a certain time, or have limited start-ups. A bit like shareware I guess.

I gotta admit, Nintendo had a damn good showing here.

I was expecting much less from them, but they decided they would have none of it.

Sony is going to have a tough battle ahead of them, but hopefully this kind of thing will push them to do even better.

This was seriously just about the best showing I could've hoped for -- plenty of games that look awesome to play, as well as awesome to look at (lack of texture filtering notwithstanding).

Excellent lineup.

You know, a lot of these DS titles are very far along in production. I can't help but wonder if Nintendo didn't already have the DS in the planning stages before they even knew Sony was coming at them with the PSP.

There are seriously way more games on the DS that strike me as really fun titles - its like the only words I could use a superlatives but it would be pointless. Flawless fucking victory, Nintendo.

I hope Another gets a US release - the art is fantastic. Proves Nintendo can do stuff that ain't kiddy - I wish they'd make a title like that - she looks like she can starr in a ICO type game.

Wow, folks. You done GAF proud with this thread.

I'll be picking mine up in the Spring. Hoping for Advance Wars and Mario Kart to be available.

Also, a few notes on the Video.

- The use of the jump rope in Nintendogs is great; the game looks so damn cute.
- The bouncing rope in the style of SMS in Goemon was SO damn cool.
- The SM64DS Minigames look really damn cool; like Mario Party style stuff.


On the whole, I am generally very, very hyped. A little disappointed that it seems Animal Crossing has been pushed back, but if I can get my hands on Advance Wars, Mario Kart, Wario Ware and SM64DS by March/April, I'll be picking one up on March 19th.

And I've been disappointed because I think the exact opposite. That Nintendo movie is awesome, but only WarioWare and Project Rub are immediately exciting. Mario 64 as a flagship doesn't excite me. It's my favorite platformer ever, but a game I played to death with digital control and NO camera buttons is not something I wanna play.

And I can't help but think deja vu when I see that release list. It reminds me of when I imported an N64. Things were quite after release and finially NOJ updated their website with a ton of titles that were coming in the 4th quarter (Still excitedly waiting for the new Climber game). After a while of everyone being excited, Nintendo clarified the webmaster made a mistake and those games weren't all scheduled for this year, they were just games in development. It tooks years for many of those games to release (If at all). The majority of games that excite me have release dates of who knows when.

I know I'll be waiting after this. Maybe by the time Sony releases PSP the line-up will have more than 2 games pushing the system and they'll price drop to combat Sony further.

Edit: Jesus, Nintendo, read the press releases again and WarioWare isn't even a launch title? And Make A Band (A Japan launch title like Wario) isn't even mentioned in the NOA press crap.

Indeed, that game is easily the most captivating (to me at least) of everything posted in this thread. The girl does look a bit like Yorda, abeit in a contemporary setting and clothing. This and Sega's Magic XXXY game are the two things I'll be keeping my eye on. Is 'Another' a launch game?

This is how you launch a machine. I hope this means they will not repeat the same mistakes they made with the GC with their next console..

It's a quite different situation. For one, handheld development requires less resources than console development and secondly, 3. parties need less persuading when it comes to a Nintendo handheld.

Noone wants to do a crappy launch but sometimes it can't be helped.

Launch line up is very weak IMHO.

Looks like I'll be cancelling my pre-order and picking one up later when there's a cooler looking color and MP:Hunters is on the store shelves.

So you believe that the current DS situtation has NOTHING to do with Sony? Nintendo did not take any competition into consideration when working on the portfolio for the DS?

I don't know, but I'd guess that Baby Mario falls at the start of the level and you have to guide him onto Yoshi's back. Then you go through the levels like playing Yoshi's Island, only using the stylus a lot too. And so on.

There's certainly both styles of game anyway. Which has me SO excited.

Some people have mentioned Zelda, I'm pretty certain we got "confirmation" (some comments from Aonuma or something like that) of a 4 swords style game in development, which is perfect for the DS and adds to this already stunning line up.

Pity Mario 64 is the only launch game from Nintendo in the US. Still, when combined with pictochat built in and the Metroid Hunters demo, it's very hard to pass up. And if one of those other launch games actually turns out to be good (one of Ridge Racer, Mr Driller, Rayman and Feel The Magic surely will be), I'm going to have to pick one up.

That Nintendo (published, dunno who's making it) puzzle game looks like fun.

I'm sure Sony was a concern IMO. Their desire to jump into portables was no secret. However, I don't think the PSP itself was a concern. I think it's announcement was a genuine surprise.

Please note: Launch = November 21st.

Launch /= Holiday Season.

I'd expect at least one more first party title and a few more third party by Christmas.
