Nintendo Switch 2 account bans continue

Small recap to understand
If you buy an used Switch Game online it could happen that what you buy is a pirated cartridge that looks original but when you load it on Switch 2 causes a console Ban?

If you buy an used Switch Game online while also using a MiG cartridge, it could happen that you get banned, yes. That part was missing from the original post

Doubtful. I haven't seen anything suggesting people are making duplicate cartridges. Where would folks get a cartridge that looks exactly like the original? More than likely this is just folks using migs

I can't elaborate - how can you use used Switch Game while using MiG stuff?

That's what I hope - I was tempted buying Switch 2 to play Switch 1 old stuff picking them from used market, I'm not going to do anything unless I'm sure there's no pirate market

probably a few times higher. like he bought several copies and paid someone to load and unload each one until he found a problem? Or worse, bought them ripped them got them banned and the game ID flagged then put the original in the switch 2.

Possibly ripped it, got multiple people to play the rip with their MIG Switch and then put in the original in his switch 2 and went online.

Originally, people were afraid that you could get banned with a legitimate used game, that had been used to make a pirated copy. Since the carts have unique IDs, everyone surmised that Nintendo was detecting when that unique ID was being used simultaneously or too many times, even off a real cartridge, in order to do this.

But in the case of OP for example, it turns out the reporter was lying, and venting steam after getting banned with a MIG, not real cart. So, there is some murkiness right now that real carts get banned at all. Maybe they never do, maybe they do in fringe cases.

Really hope you're right but I'll have to wait since this shitty rumor is out
Thanks

I mean, I was thinking about some used NS1 games for the 2 boost, but this def curbed my enthusiasm a little lol.

A non-zero chance is all I need to hang back and watch for a while. I do wonder if the truth is somewhere in the middle. Where Nintendo does ban cart IDs, but not instantly, rather the copy of Odyssey that ended up shared 10,000 times in a torrent is flagged to high heaven, and you'd be unlucky to get that copy used...but who knows really I'm speculating into thin air.

I stand corrected then. Doubt I'll be buying used games for Switch in that case. Nintendo sucks at security.

Don't believe horseshit guys. Nintendo doesn't have the right to ban my switch over used games and they will never do it. There is nothing to worry about. If it did happen as a fluke it would be reversed immediately without issue. MANY people pirate switch. They are getting what the fucking deserve finally, so they are pissed. Don't let them fuck with an unthoughtful mind. Strengthen your mind. Be sure of yourself. Use logic and know when your logic is rock solid. If your logic is rock solid bring it out into the world. Teach other hemmers and hawers how to be sure of themselves. Be strong. Remove self doubt and neurosis. The new mario kart is fun as shit. Donkey Kong is goty. Enjoy it. Don't worry. Switch 2 is better in every way than Switch 1 ever was.

The issue occurs when that individual sells the cart through say eBay or Amazon or whatever, and a random user buys it. Then Nintendo proceeds to ban their console because this game cart cert was visible at some point through MiG.

Hence the issue that this is causing used Switch 2 game market.

I haven't followed it in awhile, but when the switch 2 first launched Nintendo was able to detect the MiG Switch before they did an update to it. So clearly Nintendo has added some sort of detection hardware/software to detect if you are playing a dumped game or the MiG itself.

So IMO while there may be false positives still, it seems to me anyone claiming to be banned for just playing used games is probably lying. Nintendo seems to be able to detect legit carts on Switch 2.

ok, now I am kinda annoyed. there are fake games being sold as new, and they look like new.

if I am buying a game from marketplace that is sealed ( I bought 2 games sealed and they still sealed to this day ) how will I know 100% if my game is not fake?

I purposely bought them sealed just because I didn't want to risk having a game that is being used on these backup cartridges to avoid getting banned. but this is crazy :/

The theory is that if they detect MiG cart dump and physical at same time, ban hammer comes to both.

We need more data to clarify this one way or another or preferably a statement from Nintendo.

If regular folks doing nothing wrong are getting banned as a result of this nonsense then it is absolutely Nintendo.
Thats what i said… Now the people that are going to buy a used game needs to triple check the game… Thanks to MIG Switch creators, Scammers and pirates 🤷‍♂️. Now some people are going to understand on why supporting this kind of things is bad at the end. Nintendo is just doing their job… Allowing this leads to the proliferation of pirates Switch games and that's is not going to happen.

No one is saying Mig users shouldn't be banned. You really don't think Nintendo owns any responsibility for this?

The issue here is not only the Mig users that are going to get banned, also the people that buy the original game with the same game ID is going to get banned, thanks to the MIG Switch… Nintendo did a great job with the cartridge security, took almost 7 years for the hackers to break the security in place to make a copy that can be read by the console. Nintendo has zero responsibility in this.
