Nintendo Switch 2 doesn't actually run original Switch games natively uses a hardware/software hybrid proprietary technology

damn, looks like only ~20% of 3rd party games are so far known to be playable without issues.

I am kinda curios why Xbox is the only console with flawless compatibility with last gen?
PS5 have a very good BC but its not flawless when you have more then 100 game not compatible
or have visual glitches

This is pure bait and faux outrage at best.
Sure sure, fake news :D. Mate, what is wrong with you?

See the domain? You can look at those Nintendo made docs or you can keep putting your fingers in your ears and shout.

Overtime they will fix a lot of issues and there was similar drama when Sony was talking about PS4/PS4 Pro BC (although they did not have to publish a large issues list at that time), but a.) they already released the N64 which had borked TooT support and b.) the list of games with issues and the games which are broken comes from Nintendo. No bait and no faux outrage 😂.

Out of 12,000 games for Nintendo Switch 141 have issues so far.

It's probably a better perfect compatibility rate than a software emulation PS2 for PS1 games.

The 46 titles have in-game issues but will run. The other 96 they committed to work on.

And many of those games are eshop titles that were phone or PC games first.

It's something to be mad about I guess.

Because Xbox runs the same OS and the same API (dx12) and it's more abstracted than the others, less close to the metal. They're trading performance for compatibility.

Not a small portion of the games with issues are far from eShop slop and out of those 12,000 games there is a fair bit of that too.

I have hopes, but they did mess up with the N64 emulator for quite a while on quite high profile titles like TooT and even in the Super Mario 3D collection they managed to worsen effects like SMS distant haze blur and SMG skies (that are now dithered) and they never fixed either. I wonder if SMG in the GCN emulator will have widescreen or not…

Never said they weren't! Never tried to imply that all games with issues were eshop slop, just pointing out they're there. We aren't talking about 141 Doom Eternal's here, the number comes from all Switch games, and out of 12 thousand games, it just doesn't seem that bad to me? I'm guessing Microsoft will just make a patch to fix that game, which isn't as good as a cartridge working which I'll admit makes it not as good as a vanilla Switch for but also not quite as bad as I think the hype would suggest.

If an abstraction layer is an emulation, then what does that say about DirectX? Which has always been an abstraction layer to provide a common interface to different types of hardware!

SMG is not a GCN game. Do you mean SMS?

SMG is a GCNx2 game tech wise ;). Jokes aside I mentioned it in the same breath as SMS because it also had emulation issues in the same collection (SM64, SMS, SMG).

Yes, but you said you wonder if SMG will have widescreen in the new GCN emulator. It won't be available there, because it's not a GCN game.
