Nintendo Switch 2 pricing possibly leaked by Costco employee — here's how much it could cost (CAD$499.99)

GAF: "$350? That's not too bad and what I was expecting"
It'll be fun to see the price reveal, I think there'll be a lot of disappointment.

The base hardware is supposedly comparable to SteamDeck(?) which is sold at $399 already. Then you add a dock (which is also rumored to contain a separate fan this time), HDMI and power cables, two detachable controllers with loads of gimmick tech, wrist straps, a controller attachment…

If anything I think Nintendo will reveal the price early on during the April presentation to get the bad news out of the way, and then show the games/exciting stuff.

Are you guys mental? $350 would be INSANELY good.

No way it will be under $399. Even $399 would be a good price.

$350 would mean even shittier specs than we can reasonably imagine.
Sure Nintendo will want to actually sell the thing right away, but new tech for that little money in this economy is impossible. Unless, again, this system is even more outdated and underpowered than Nintendo's usual.

No it's not.

It's about PS4 level.
That's what I thought the SteamDeck was/is, roughly. What's the SteamDeck?

Most speculation I've seen is worse performance than SteamDeck in handheld mode but better performance than SteamDeck in docked mode.

But I have no clue about this stuff.

This. Considering Nintendo doesn't like to sell their consoles at a loss from day 1, I'd have to really wonder what corners were cut to make a profit on $350.

The only time Nintendo has sold a console higher than $299 was the Wii U Deluxe, which was $350 and there was still a $299 option. People huffing hopium that Nintendo is going to price the Switch 2 at the same as the current gen big consoles don't get Nintendo and are hoping they'd do something stupid so the console doesn't completely destroy their favorite plastic box in sales again.

And the Wii U was one of two Nintendo consoles in history to be sold at a loss for a time, and it was a generation behind in terms of specs.

Not gonna happen. It's 2025.

if Nintendo has confirmed they aren't dropping the price nor discontinuing the Switch 1, why would anyone think they'd price the Switch 2 near it? that'd kill any sales momentum the OG Switch has left

Fastest selling console ever if 500 CAD. They'll have the stock to do it.

I think it's important Nintendo is paranoid about following up successful consoles. Their first console with a "2" behind it. I'm not saying I believe this price… but it's believable from a certain perspective.

Are we assuming the Switch 2 will launch with LCD then jump to OLED a year later. I dont see myself buying this thing twice. (I probably will)

$350 is good depends on the launch games I haven't followed too close but for now it seems Metroid Prime 4 and Mario Kart. If that is all I will wait, I know Metroid Prime is big but I personally prefer the 2d ones.

All rumors point towards LCD in the launch SKU, so yeah, I'd guess we'll see OLED down the line. Either in the form of a "pro" SKU or just an OLED model as with the Switch.

I'd assume we'll see a Switch 2 Lite SKU as well.

For reference Switch launched in 2017, Switch Lite launched two years later (2019), and Switch OLED launched 4 years later (2021). So "a year later" is likely too optimistic.

Nothing of the sort on my part.
I'm firmly of the opinion that pricing Switch 2 the same as the current OLED Switch simply means that it's below expectations.
I'll repeat once again that there's $300 devices out there that can emulate Switch games pretty well. I don't see how they can price Switch 2 a penny less than $399 if they offer a significant upgrade over a 8-year-old product, considering what happened to the economy in the meantime.
Just to clarify, I don't even own a PS5, and I'm going to be there day one with Switch 2 if there's a game or two that's worth it.

In the recent QA session, Furukawa said that they'll determine pricing after they see people's reaction on the real hardware during the hands-on presentations.

350 …. Only if

A) They are selling it with a loss
B) This thing offers performance like a PS3 Pro

When apple sells an iPad for $399 what makes people think $350 would have to be selling at a loss? That's Apple we're talking about too. The king of overpriced.

Unfortunatelly, for my third world income, i believe it will be around this price.

It is rumoured to be way too "cutting" edge, for Nintendo standard, to be under $399.

i don't care as long as it's below 500. i'm getting 2, maybe 3. i have 4 switches. 2 v1, oled, lite, and they all get regular use. it's my favorite in-home streaming device by far

It will be cheap because the hardware inside it will be cheap and far less capable than you're all hoping for.

Do you never learn? This is Nintendo.
