Nintendo Switch 2 user on Reddit console banned, claims he only tethered his cellular internet [Update: frequented hacking sub]

They are desperate to hack and emulate the Switch 2. Being able to do so quickly with the original Switch spoiled them. Nintendo/Nvidia isn't playing around with you guys anymore.

they got burned bad w/ switch 1, esp w/ people running emus just for better resolution/performance.

I figured they'd be making some investment in hardening the OS/hardware. it's always inevitable but I'm guessing we'll be a few years out from switch2 emus being something the masses can use

I predict Nintendo swiftly going after Switch 2 emulation startups this time around. Especially those with Patreon accounts.

OK guys, case closed (apparently) - that was fast !
Still, seems weird to have your new console banned for previous transgressions on a previous model/hardware, unless it's a gamertag based one ?

PS : Thanks EviLore EviLore for the embed (still don't know how to do it dammit !)

Nintendo: "Hey don't do that thing"
*Hacker does thing*
Hacker: "What happened?!"

I love situations like this when people try to say they did nothing wrong but then someone immediately digs up evidence of them in the wrong, lol.

So the link you originally pasted is from the new reddit, which doesn't support embedding. However, you can do it from desktop using the old Reddit. In this case, the URL would look like this:

Code:
https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch2/comments/1lcqw4d/my_ns2_has_been_console_banned_and_i_have/

Thanks man, it was done via the app so...
Guess I'll have to link it from a web browser next time !

Someone post the hornets' nest meme. "WHY ARE THEY ATTACKING ME??"

He'll sell it to some poor kid on FB Marketplace now and block him as soon as he can get away with the money.
That's the shitty thing. Consoles shouldn't be banned vs accounts. A account ban could be appropriate while a console ban would only make sense if hardware was modded which in this case is very unlikely.

Doing a console ban basically screws over used hardware buyers and it's pretty damn anti-consumer. And heck, if they are console banning because user had an account flag with Switch 1, that's not great unless there is S2 hardware hack already.

Ah, I thought they banned him simply because he visited hacking boards... Instead he used his (already) banned Switch account on the NS2

That's not Nintendo's problem. Whoever buy used aren't giving Nintendo money, so why should Nintendo be held accountable for a hacked console? Buyer of used console should do proper check to make sure the console is free from bans.

Because Nintendo should behave with at least a modicum of good will vs "Fuck you I got mine"? While currently they are "on top of the world" so to speak, that will not always continue and having a loyal customer base that they have a good relationship with helps.

And this is especially so considering ever increasing pricing on both hardware and software.

Expect Nintendo to behave while attempt to hack the console for cheating/piracy? Good luck guilt tripping Nintendo for that silly excuse and I highly doubt loyal Nintendo fanbase will care about the plight of a small minority of hackers.

Nintendo hackers are why they brick consoles. Every time you setup some sorta rom arcade at home for funsies. It's pretty obvious to see how we got to where we are.

Copying and pasting the link works if you're on desktop whether it's old/new reddit. If you're doing it on mobile, it doesn't work. Just shows the URL address.
