So I found my first couple light scratches today, even after being careful whenever I removed/set the system in the dock. Thank goodness I applied a screen protector straight out of the box.

I wonder if I'm gonna be able to play online with my Switch.

I can't even play the videos in the News section without significant waiting.

Finally got my Switch, and it's a blast... Except the WiFi doesn't work really well.

i'm getting this error message wheneverr I test the connection:

"Error code 2160-0202

The connection has failed.

The network is not responding.
Please try again later."

I have fiber internet and every other device I use works without any problem over WiFI.

Any idea what I should do?

[EDIT] Also, it has no problem detecting and connecting to my WiFi network. It's just that the speed seems so slow I can successfully complete a connection test or connect to the eshop. The eshop gives me error code 2811-1028 "the page cannot be displayed".

Set your router to 5ghz if you haven't yet. See if that helps.

Oh my heart. I've been using this thing in handheld mode for a hundred hours in the last couple weeks, and just found these small cracks forming at stress points.

The dude I spoke to at Nintendo said it wasn't covered under warranty but he'd mark it as such to see if we could get it repaired for free, otherwise it'll be $99. I've heard people don't lose their save file (I'd like to not lose 100+ hours of Zelda progress), so I'm cautiously optimistic.

I'll report back in a couple weeks when I get my unit back. :(

Please help me with my bad english
I'm tempted to buy a Switch just so that I can play KoF '98 on the go on that beautiful 6.2 inch screen... lol

I bought Blaster Master Zero today to help break up long BotW play sessions. BMZ is really good!

Right? It's so good.

One thing I was surprised about was that I was able to play the game fine without a traditional D-pad. I played much of it in portable mode with the Joy-Cons attached, and the left Joy-Con's "button D-pad" suited me just fine. I also used the Pro Controller for a bit of it after the update, which was great too.

Either way, people should be dropping the $10 for this game.

Manually set your Primary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and Secondary to 8.8.4.4. Also, make sure your SSID is not hidden. Mine had issues with that. It won't be perfect, but it should work. More wifi talk in available this thread.

Thanks, that seemed to do the trick. Getting decent speeds too :).

Great to hear!

How the hell is that NOT covered under warranty?

I'd like to see how they worm their way around that. It's clearly a design defect if it can't withstand normal use for a few weeks. Jeeze, Nintendo, we love you but c'mon now.

Definitely let us know how it turns out for you, and if they send a replacement unit with your save files restored to it. Hopefully you recorded your original units serial number to check?

Ok I officially caved. Ordered a grey Switch + Zelda + a pro controller from the UK Nintendo Store. First Nintendo console since the Gamecube. Played Twilight Princess on my nephew's Wii but that's it. Looking forward to catching up on some Nintendo magic. Gonna thoroughly test the left joycon whenever it arrives tho

Just wondering, do you hold it one handed while doing other things while games load and such? if I try to hold mine with one hand on a joycon it feels so heavy I dislike doing it, so I put the thing down then pick it back up instead.

That's a good point.

I never hold it one-handed by a joycon. I always extend my fingers to the back of the tablet itself. It's probably good practice for Switch owners to do it that way if they need to hold it one handed for a while.

So sorry that happened to you and that Nintendo fixes that for you for free. I hope that never happens to mine either.

Got my very first switch bug today :(

Woke it up from sleep mode with pro controller and while I was doing something on the side for ~30seconds my TV screen went blank. Thought it went back to sleep so I tried waking it up and nothing happened. Went to grab the tablet from the dock and noticed the screen was lit - picked it up and saw this:

errorcode_fe_console_data.png

Hit power button and it restarted very quickly.. no errors since and hopefully it's nothing serious. Binding of Isaac was last game in there but I haven't tried playing it since that happened since I immediately took it out and put Zelda back in.

Having never played Shovel Knight...Is it worth buying on the Switch?

E: Also, can you rearrange or change the way the homescreen layout is? I'd prefer a grid instead of a line now that I own enough games to have to scroll.

Definitely. I'd buy it on Switch for sure if I didn't already have the 3ds version.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Who else is bringing a Pro Controller with them everytime they take their Switch on the road? I'm tempted to not even bother bringing the JoyCons.

This is all you need, I'm like 175 hours in.

This is me exactly. Just not feeling the unit in portable mode at all. It's a shame too, because I love the screen.

It's annoying that to turn it off you need to hold the button on the tablet for a few seconds then make two more menu selections just to power it off. Wish there was a way to do it remotely with the controllers.

Same here, wifi is the thing I'm most disappointed with, maybe my only big complaint really but it's really worrying me. If i won't be able to play online via wifi, only docked via LAN, that would suck big time.

after 2 weeks with the Switch I have to say I love the UI and it's overall snappiness. I like it over both the other consoles. Also Suspend mode is wonderful. It's incredibly quick.

After using all the updates to the 360 interface and the current gen consoles all being filled with options and menus I really like the currently minimal design with the switch, I hope nintendo do not balloon it up too wild over the years.

I think the UI will have to change as the console's library and features become more robust.

People always talk about how amazing the 360's blade UI use to be... it was snappy and a minimalist design. Which was indeed a great design.

But the reality is as more games came out, as apps became a thing. The blade design just didn't make sense, and would of needed a lot of moderation from the end user to stay usable.

I'm extremely worried about this as well. I have to be next to my router for it to work well enough for eshop. From there I can move back to my living room but it seems to lose signal pretty fast once I start to do online functions. If I can't play Mario Kart or Splatoon in my living room I'm going to be pretty upset.

For reference I can use everything else, including my Wii U and 3DS, in every room in my house. The Switch is my only problem device.

Outside of adding a browser or something I really hope they don't ruin the switch UI over time. Both Xbox and PlayStation 3/4 are just nightmares of buttons and all kinds of fluff. The switch is fantastically simple and quick.

That's odd. I have an acquaintance who had the exact same thing happen, and as far as I heard, he got it repaired/replaced for free by Nintendo.

Talking of Joycon straps, tonight was the first time I realised each strap can fit EITHER Joycon!!!

I had simply not seen this stated before. I thought the system came with one for the + Joycon and one for the - Joycon. Playing snipperclips tonight and my gf managed to put one in the wrong way. I was dumbfounded as I knew I'd put the + on my + sided Joycon and gave her the other strap...

NOPE. Turn them round and they can fit on either Joycon. For fucks sake.

Left the Switch docked in sleep mode, went to wake it by pressing home on the joy con and it froze upon waking. Only way to get it out of this state was to take the switch out of the dock and hold down Standby button for about 10 seconds. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm not sure leaving the console docked on sleep is a good idea...

Yeah, I'm with you. It's attractive, clean, and quick. Love it.

Yep I have this exactly, but haven't seen anyone else with the same issue yet. The thing seems very sensitive to scuffs that wear down the finish. Apparently even vinyl skins will wreck the finish so dbrand and other companies won't be making any.

Mine has done this quite a few times also. If I put it to sleep and then unlock it again it stops immediately and then stays quiet. Strange.

I've seen it from others I believe, but I've just noticed small battle scars on my Switch. Light surface scratches on the back of the console where the matte black finish is. Nothing major, just something I've seen it incur during it's portable travels and only visible in the right light.

Anyone else notice these light scuffs on the back? Am I crazy, or is it just the finish and material and something unavoidable?

Good to know it's not just me. Anyone else notice this?

You know, I'm usually not self conscience at all about being a gamer/nerd in public, but I don't think I could do Switch at the gym. I know it's really all that different from playing a game on your iPhone or something but yeah. Has anyone said anything to you?

The weirdest part of this is you not seeing this stated at all. This was in all "problems with the Switch" threads pretty consistently and yeah it sucks

I think the handheld in public thing is like the watching a movie solo thing. Nobody cares. They really, really don't.

And in the rare instance somebody does they are probably incredibly insecure and self conscious themselves. Fuck 'em.

Mine has a few in a vertical pattern on the back. Used some fabric on the dock and not a single one appeared since.
.... well for those wondering, definitely don't use the toothpaste method to buff it out. It wore down the finish on the back so now there's a glossy spot on the back.

Can't win I guess.

Only gamers care... I always check out what people are playing on handhelds :)
