Switch 2 needs a slot for nes cartridges
Ask yourself, what's in it for Nintendo? 0% chance of that happening.Assuming Switch 2 will use a dock, would it be a good idea for Nintendo to come out with an optional dock that included a disc drive where you could play Wii and WiiU games? Why or why not?
And if you think it is a good idea, how much extra would you pay to have this dock if the Switch 2 launches at a price of 299?
You can play PS1 games on a PS2. PS1, PS2 games are playable on the original PS3. Later gen PS3 you can still play PS1 games but not PS2 games. PS4 deviated from that but PS5 does play PS4 games. One thing is for sure, Nintendo will do a better job of backward compatibility than Sony EVER did....Sony doesn't care about it's legacy, hence why the mediocre back-catalogue of PS2 games on PS4, as well as limited compatibility on PS5, Motorstorm 1 and 2 on PS5 would have been great..

So out of the 5 home consoles Sony released you can could technically own just a PS3 and a PS5 and be able to play the vast majority of the library from the entire history of Playstation with physical discs.
Does an SNES play NES games? No. Does N64 play SNES or NES games? No. Does the Gamecube play N64 games? No. Wii could play GC games but in their revisions they removed the GC controller and memory card ports. Wii U can play Wii games obviously. Does Switch play Wii U games? No (remasters don't count).
So in order to play the physical games from Nintendos' console history, you would need to own a NES, SNES, Wii, Wii U and Switch.
So there have been more generations of PS consoles that can can play phyisical games through backwards compatibility than NIntendo.
Starting on the drugs early today i see.One thing is for sure, Nintendo will do a better job of backward compatibility than Sony EVER did....Sony doesn't care about it's legacy, hence why the mediocre back-catalogue of PS2 games on PS4, as well as limited compatibility on PS5, Motorstorm 1 and 2 on PS5 would have been great..
They’ve gone literally nearly a decade now without a platform with a disc drive. And physical media is dying, and Nintendo has never allowed music or video format discs, only their own proprietary. Like, how does this question even come up? Seriously.Assuming Switch 2 will use a dock, would it be a good idea for Nintendo to come out with an optional dock that included a disc drive where you could play Wii and WiiU games? Why or why not?

How do you launch the switch 2 at 299 when the switch oled is still $299.Assuming Switch 2 will use a dock, would it be a good idea for Nintendo to come out with an optional dock that included a disc drive where you could play Wii and WiiU games? Why or why not?

On Switch 2? Absolutely. They add a new platform every 2-3 years. And they’ve quite clear they intend to keep growing the offerings and adding new services to NSO over time. You'll get Wii remakes, and Gamecube added to NSO.
A miserable little pile of data! But, enough talk, have at you. What's a deeeaassskk?
Yes that's what I'm thinking. On Switch 2? Absolutely. They add a new platform every 2-3 years. And they’ve quite clear they intend to keep growing the offerings and adding new services to NSO over time.
You can play all but like 4 PS4 games on PS5One thing is for sure, Nintendo will do a better job of backward compatibility than Sony EVER did....Sony doesn't care about it's legacy, hence why the mediocre back-catalogue of PS2 games on PS4, as well as limited compatibility on PS5, Motorstorm 1 and 2 on PS5 would have been great..
