Yes I'm one of those people who are interested in Nintendogs (like hell it'll be Puppy Times). I'm actually a self-professed sucker for pets of all nature, including the random virtual one.
I don't know much about this product but I'm hopeful Nintendo will be able to create a more involving and interactive version than the products we've had so far. The Dogz, Tamagotchi's and screensavers so far were pretty interesting explorations into the simulation genre but weren't enough "gamey" to suit my tastes. Hopefully Nintendo will be able to really push forward the possible game aspects of a simulation title such as this and make it more enjoyable for that sector of the market.
The lack of a death is a double-edged sword. In a way the game will never end and it will become a sort of personalized accessory for the player when they show friends and at the same time it will severely limit emotional involvement with the pet since it's essentially invincible and will never leave you. Oh well I'm not fit for any intellectual though on the matter at the moment but it's an interesting dilemma to think about.
