So they still haven't acknowledged the lies? Lol
Dunno about console, but PC version at launch wasn't running the game at 1080p no matter what setting you chose, so it was a blurry mess.I haven't played this game in a while, but did this receive a graphical upgrade? it looks alot better or is it just that I'm playing on the Pro and a 4k TV which upscales, or maybe it's just Placebo.
But they're the victims here.So they still
haven't acknowledged the lies? Lol
A hand brake is a very minor improvement and isn't going to suddenly make flying fun. As for survival mode, notice that they don't describe it. It is probably just upping damage numbers. They did make changed to flying and combat. When you're flying in your ship, if you're turning and apply the brake, you'll do a drift and turn faster. That's a big improvement. Also they said that when you successfully defend a freighter from attack they'll reward you somehow. And there's now a 'survival' component which ups the difficulty or something.
And remember this is the 'Foundation Update.' It's the start of things to come. Given the past few months regarding this game, did you really expect them to address all of your concerns in the first update? No, right? Well, they're making progress. And really, this game probably isn't for you, honestly.
A game where the goal is to improve your inventory size appeals to you?
I wasn't aware that there was only allowed to be one person who dislikes the game a thread is discussing per thread.
There's a difference between criticism and outright trashing of people who've clearly reached far, fallen a bit short and still kept going. 99% of people bitching have no idea how much sweat and tears a relatively small group of people have put in to make this game. Yes they could have handled their comms a lot better but I'd wager that marketing and PR people had a bigger say in how NMS was handled than the people actually building it. The amount of grief they've gotten would be enough for a lot of people to say "fuck it" and not bother carrying on trying to get to where they want the game to be. It's really easy to criticise people when you haven't been in the trenches of software development.

Yup. Especially with how unforgiving survival mode is, we need to be able to move around better than we currently can.Needs land buggies or Rovers to make traversal fun, jet-pack hopping is tediuous

The problem is where their focus is. Notice the difference in the amount of information given about the base building verses flying and survival mode. That's the same type of thing that set off my red flags about NMS before release. Then it was the fact that Hello Games would go into great detail about their procedural generation, but then suspiciously claimed they couldn't talk about other parts of the game because they did not want to spoil them. As it turned out, the other parts of the game sucked which was the far more likely reason why they weren't mentioned in detail.
The general problem with NMS Is that it's focus is too much on the world building and not enough on what you do in the world. Base building is a continuation of this. It looks like it would be something fun to do for a hour. Other than just to see it, there appears to be little reason to do it. It doesn't appear to be connected to the stated goal of getting to the center of the galaxy at all.
I thought the goal was to get to the center of the universe. No wonder people got so pissed! They were playing the game wrong!
What an awkwardly worded sentence. And there's no limit to the amount of unoriginal parroting in a thread as far as I know.
Good idea actually.Needs land buggies or Rovers to make traversal fun, jet-pack hopping is tediuous
Hahahahahahahahhahahahaahhahahahahahaha.I thought the goal was to get to the center of the universe. No wonder people got so pissed! They were playing the game wrong!
Damn, if only I'd known that all the items I'd been gathering which ended up being used to increase my inventory space were actually supposed to get me to a place that doesn't reward you for getting there.I thought the goal was to get to the center of the universe. That's a great update but the inflated sense if self-importance shines through yet again in that tweet.
Never miss a chance to show how small their studio is, what they've gone through to make the game, etc. Enough with that shit already.
Still hasn't come clean on all the bullshit. Still playing the victim card.
Again, the update sounds cool but it also sounds like something better suited as an addition to ALL THE OTHER SHIT THEY TALKED ABOUT.
Sheesh.
Boy are you in for a surprise.
Bought it last night on gog.
Looking forward to just relaxing and traveling.
I'm so happy I bought this for $20 at GameStop! It sounds like I am going to have a great time.
I do think they need to acknowledge stuff like this

before real healing can begin. I hope the update is great for ya'll that are playing it, though.

You could already take HUD-less screen by pressing Options and Share at roughly the same time. The interface disappears for a split second.Yeah, and bad at doing this. It's not even removing the suit's glass so it still has this weird shader on top of the picture.
Not to mention you need to press4 (FOUR) times to turn off the hud.

Why can't I press some button on the controler?!
fantastic you meanNeeds land buggies or Rovers to make traversal fun, jet-pack hopping is tediuous
For sure they messed up big-time with overselling the features of the game. I still think some of the criticism has been ridiculous though. I mean, it's a video game for fucks sake. Don't buy their next game and move on.I'm sorry but I think that's bullshit. I've worked in a high pressure work environment as well but no one was compelled to lie about projects.
.
There's a lot of interesting stuff there, but at the same time, it feels like they're just entirely avoiding the problems people had with the game in the first place. Other than the inventory stacking, this doesn't seem to address any of the complaints about repetitive exploration, a lack of NPC interaction, not much variety in things to find, things like not being able to fly below a certain height etc or any of the missing features.
It even feels like this is entirely just going around what the game was meant to be. It's like with this update it's gone from an exploration game where the goal was to explore and get to the centre of the universe, to a typical survival game.
survival kicked my ass lol
need to restart cuz i keep dieing in the middle of nowhere

Exactly. Slightly bemused by the "redeemed themselves" posts to be honest.
That video came out in December of 2014. Features got cut. Happens in games all the time.
I don't understand why people are still so mystified by this. It's a much more plausible explanation than "Sean Murray is a horrible man who lied to trick people into buying his game!" too.

Missing features like that were still mentioned up until near release, it wasn't just years before. Even a video 2 months before the original release date showed features that then weren't in the game.
Is anyone else considering starting the game from scratch? I'm on my fifth galaxy and I think I just might do that.
