No Man's Sky "Path Finder" Content Update announced

Whoa, the framerate is seriously good now on the pro. Dunno if it's the same on OG ps4. Also, looks like more landscape coloring variety at first glance

Yeah PC version definitely got a bit borked along the way. I keep randomly crashing now loading the previous saves (the last 2 reload points) and the fps got a big hit. Was getting 60 fps prior and now its anywhere from 30-60.

Well I'm not too sure what happened but my game runs like shit now. Had a perfect 60fps previously and now it constantly drops to as low as 30.

I'm pissed.

Really loving this update so far on the Pro. 60fps and other graphical improvements are very welcome. The game looks stunning right now 😎

These updates sound pretty good, I'm looking forward to coming back to a much more feature-packed game one of these days. Had a great time at launch, and I'm glad the devs are sticking around to fulfill the massive potential in NMS

They really don't have choice at this point. Their brand/names are forever tainted, only redemption is making the game ok-ish to attract any future sales for any future project they have in mind.

If they release another game at this point it will bomb beyond the grave.

I really want to find a lush world... Is there any guide to do that? Cause I want to find one and make it my base planet and build from there.

oh shit they legit made teh hover bike I wanted. fucking drives over water, ramps off terrain and is pretty fucking awesome.

so far the first 2 vehicles jut control like janky stiff Halo Warthogs though. Was hoping bike would be more Ghost. I hope they get polished as time goes on, but fuck yes for getting the one type of vehicle I wanted.

If that's true I'm buying a copy today cause the PC version is still wildly unoptimised

I bought a PSN copy at launch because my Steam copy wasn't working like I would like.

Plays great on PS4 and now with the Pro patch, it's fantastic.

Dunno that I would say it is 60fps, but it feels smoother and looks fantastic post update.

Re downloaded on PC.. excited to give it a try.. .load.. walk 5 min.. crash.. repeat 4 times.. I am out.. what a joke.

Interesting. Is that at 4k or 1080p?

1080p I would assume.
On Pro there's only one resolution mode, which definitely seems above 1080p but I haven't been able to find screenshots to say exactly how much above.

While at this higher resolution the game runs at 60fps target, though it's not fully stable. I've not seen enough footage to say how much it drops, or how often. It's not constantly fluctuating, though.

I do feel like we need someone to make a thread for those coming back... I didn't get into the last update all that much but I want to get into this one and that one... But I'm finding my progress to be slow.

One of the reason ,I stopped playing No Man's Sky was ,I ran out of space on my PS4 , with the PS4 4.50 update almost out and this update. It the right time to get back into it.

Well the OT in community still has spurts of activity. You're welcome to ask questions in there.

To the user who had his base on a water planet...

Think I'm gonna jump ship and get it on PS4 now then. It just refuses to work properly on PC for me and the stretching in the 21:9 is awful. They fixed it in the play options menu but nothing else it seems.

Looks amazing on pro. Also I had some freighters jump in, and the flashing of them coming out of warp speed was incredible looking. It was almost like space lightning.

I am prepared to give the game another shot now there is a lot more to the game, popped the disk in this morning and it definitely looks better on the Pro.

Are cars etc found just lying about on planets??

Really need a way to change the vehicle controls. They're horrible right now. Why is left stick forwards/backwards and right stick to turn? That's a nightmare to use (for me anyway). R2 and L2 should be accelerate and reverse respectively, always! Left stick should always be turn! Crazy.

The game definitely feels a lot more responsive on my pro which is awesome and it looks great too. One thing that still gets to me is the narrow field of view. Have they reduced it or does it just look narrow after playing other games? I really hope they give us a slider to change it soon. Solid update so far though.

This is a really impressive update. I'm only wondering if it's time to jump back in now, or wait until 1.3. Haven't played since 1.0.

EDIT: Would've gotten it on PC, since I got a new PC since launch. Currently own it on PS4. Is it really that bad on PC after the patch?

It runs okay on my PC, no crashes so far. I'm playing on a fresh install though, so no previous shader catches or whatever it is they used before.

EDIT: Fresh playthrough too, no previous saves. Still waiting for my Pro to finish updating as that's where I plan on playing this update (need that HDR)

The frame rate is bad on OG PS4 especially when you have a cluster of creatures spawning all in the same place it would be great to be able to limit or just turn off creature spawns.

Welp this ran at locked 60fps here with everything maxed (and FOV tweaked to higher values) and now it's 20-30fps and the graphics are completely broken after picking ultra textures.

It's like there is no lighting and everything is incredibly low-res (I spawn next to a gold spot and the gold texture is pitch black/missing). Any up-to-date list of fixes/workarounds for this?

Great update, it plays very smooth on the PS4 Pro now.

Unfortunately they didn't fix the bug where you can't proceed with the farmer quest in your base. I have to find some pearls in a ruin, but the ruin is underwater and half of it stuck is inside a rock, so it's not possible to interact.

After the patch the ruin is still at the same place, probably it wasn't possible to fix that retroactively. I don't have enough credits for the workaround to buy a freighter and don't want to move my base to another planet (as I like that one quite a lot and don't want to rebuild everything).

To be fair they are on record way before release saying they wanted to treat this like minecraft, make the base game and then keep updating it over time so it becomes something much more.

I'm surprised with the graphical changes, a lot more impressive than I thought they would be.

I've only played around with the vehicles in creation mode, I haven't progressed that far in survival, so do they take damage in normal/survival mode? Racing through caves smashing all the rocks is cool but I assume it would heavily damage it normally.

I think the vehicles have added a new dimension to the game, and I agree with a poster earlier maybe the game needs more enemies on the surface like other factions protecting resources/buildings.

Only was able to play for an hour last night. I'm still looking for a suitable home planet. Just found a yellow star system, and I think I'll have decent luck with this. One planet I was in though, in various places, once I landed my ship and got out, I would fall through the surface and fall into "the abyss". Not far, and I could always get out, but it certainly hampered my fun for that planet. It looked wild. But so were the sentinels, so fuck that place.

Otherwise I love the little updates I've seen to where I am right now (baseless, freighterless). I'm following the Atlas path for now, will see where things end up.

My only complaint for now is for a damn shoulder button toggle. I remote play a TON, and the controls on Vita don't work the best. It's functional, but there are vastly better options out there.

I've been keeping an eye on it. I've yet to play it, but I'm probably going to grab it on PS4 when the price is right. It sounds like it runs better than the PC build.

I'm pretty sure he said the exact opposite..? He also said he could make a Minecraft clone easily, but didn't want to do that.

Wow, just booted it up on PS4 Pro. Holy shit, the better framerate is almost game changing. So good to see some extra power used for this game!

Atmospheric low-flight has been adjusted and improved

This does nothing to make you fly any closer to the ground. It means that you have greater control while flying in the atmosphere of the planet...which it does, just don't get your hopes up.

Not a Minecraft clone. It's only being mentioned based on the way they rolled out updates. Start with a basic shell of a game that has been radically transformed years later through updates.

If the PC version has become extra borked in the process of this update... One step forward, two back, unfortunately

Halo 1 driving controls. Good (enough) once you get used to them.
