So All AMD Phenom II CPUs and older Intel CPUs don't support this game due to no SSE 4.1 support from what ive been reading... What are the chances of them fixing this?

Most of us with these older cpu's are facing the crash at launch issue.

6700K, 16GB Ram, 980ti....

It hitches a bit...but I'm glad I pulled the trigger on this. I'm not too familiar with this type of game and I feel like I'm really going to get into it.

I'm also running it on my 21:9 Acer Predator....it looks OK.

I would have to say that based on what I played I think the price point should probably be a little bit lower but then I suppose it's the enjoyment you get from a game that ultimately justifies the price, I could see myself sinking 60 hours into this easy.

I'll wait for price drop and patches. I also want to see what kind of support this game gets and what is the plan to build upon it. Ultimately, having tools availbale to mod would be the saving grace of this game imo.

I think there is a lot wrong with the game but this argument is bogus. Economies of scale. They don't have a unified back office, HR, or legal counsel. They don't have bargaining power for subcontractors.

Shit. Nestle is a giant chocolate company with great customer service and their 50 gram bars are cheaper than a single chocolate from the 3 person chocolate shop in a small town. I wouldn't expect it to be any other way.

You cannot throw business realities out the window because you want the same good to have consistent qualities across producers regardless of the situations of those producers. It's crazy.

They have one office and some PC's as far as I know. their main cost is going to be paying 14 people. Other indie companies manage this without charging full price.

I can't believe the pop in is the exact same as on console.
That's likely a draw distance issue. Probably a bit more complex for NMS since they also generate the stuff on the fly. They should offer options on PC, though. Maybe a config file to make sure people don't "max things out" and break performance further.

I would say it's very low.

Ok, refund time for me. Was having some stutter free moments roaming around the starter ship, but that all changed when i actually flew away and explored elsewhere. It's a stuttery mess and feels half finished. Shame i bought it at a discount.

Will buy it again later if they fix it.

i7 and 1070, 16GB Ram. Personally, i had less issues with Arkham Knight when i was on a 780ti.

I feel like 60 Euros are a total ripoff on PC for this. I'll just wait a week or two until gamescom settles and the Devs had some time to fix things. And then, the game will cost 29,99 anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nvidia Gtx970m
I7-4720HQ
8gb Ram

Bordeless windows, in game vysnch off , Frame cap max

30- 55 framerates, lots of stuttering. Game looks blurry as hell.

Started on a nice ice planet with lots of life and purple lit caves but shame game runs like shit

Interesting. Was searching about OpenGL 4.5 to see what cards support it and come across Nvidia's page about their support. https://developer.nvidia.com/opengl-driver Noticed it mentioned new stuff for OGL in the 369.00 drivers (which is probably related to making a "Game Ready driver" for NMS) and has a link to download 369.00 also but I didn't bother since doing the search for driver update in Device Manager is 369.09.

So if I were to force AF through the Nvidia Control Panel, should I turn off the setting in-game?

Probably doesn't make any odds if the graphics driver is overriding it.

As a rule I'd go with yes though, on the offchance that the game does its own processing for whatever option you're overriding.

Actual price discussion should be separated from development decisions in this aspect as it's largely irrelevant.

The price of the game now, had little to do with development resources two years ago when hiring new staff would have been relevant. On top of this pricing structure has a good chance of being contractually obligated. Since they are self-funded, Sony is likely looking to get a bigger piece of the percentage for their marketing contribution.

Just as full disclosure, I'm not likely going to buy this game any time soon. So no bias here.

If that's the problem they can fix it easily, The Phantom Pain got a fix in less than a week for this issue

Guys I wanna start over on my save any idea how? I can still get the preorder ship I'd assume swell doing this even when I redeemed it.

Has anyone tried running the game on the LOWEST possible detail settings?

I mean, if it's still stuttering and crashing with EVERYTHING turned off, or downtuned to it's lowest setting, then you know it's the game and not your system.

(Assuming you can even launch the game in the first place)

I would love to see the spec comparison between low spec and high.

For what it is worth, I have a G2020 CPU, 8 GB RAM, and 1 GB VRAM AMD Radeon HD 7770 (with latest drivers). The game runs like a charm (no stuttering, no pop-in, very rare framerate drops) with these settings:

In-game settings:
Window Mode: Borderless
Monitor: Primary
Resolution: 1920x1080
V-Sync: Off
Anti Aliasing: SSSA x 4
FoV (both): 90
Anisotropic Filtering: 16
Texture Detail: High
Shadow Detail: Medium
Generation Detail: High
Reflection Quality: Low
Max FPS: Max

Tips, Tricks & Tweaks:

  • - To make changes to Graphics Options you have to hold down the mouse button to confirm. *
  • - For Stuttering, make sure to disable V-Sync and remove the 30FPS Cap.
  • - Force Anisotropic Filtering to x16 into your graphics control panel
  • - Set the game to Borderless Window (might help with alt+tab issues)

Can someone confirm I'm not blind - this seems to really do something performance wise.

Ooh really? Nice, excited to try it out when I'm home from vacation on Monday.
first time in recent memory AMD has drivers out before Nvidia too

Runs pretty bad here.

I7 2700K 4.3Ghz
16Gb RAM 2133
MSI 980Ti Gaming 6g

When I'm not moving too much it stays at 60fps ( or about 95-100fps with no vsync), but when I start to explore a bit the CPU goes from 30% usage to 85-90%, and the frames drop to the 20-30's for a second until the area is loaded.

Yeah, I did that. The game still hit 100% CPU usage regularly which resulted in hitching. (My graph a few posts back was from running everything at lowest and limiting frame rate to 30FPS)

If the developers Sandlot for Earth Defense Force 4.1 on PC can patch the very same issue, a team also releasing their very first game on PC, I don't see why Hello Games can't.

The irony of that is a dev from another studio released that fix 2 days after release. Sandlot incorporated it into an official patch a few weeks later.

So after frustration of hitches and stuttering, it is finally gone.

I set FPS Limit setting to Max, disabled vsync, and then just forced vsync on NMS through NVIDIA control panel.

Runs smooth at 60fps now with no hiccups. Runs beautifully.

Going by the evidence, your doubt seems misplaced. Not only is this a common oversight for other teams, it has been consistently patched in the past.

If I had to guess, the QA teams didn't have a relevant CPUs on hand. So the issue on launch was likely a surprise.

As I stated before it runs OK with a 1080 and Gsync but I still asked for a refund, this is going to cost 20€ very soon like Batman AK did. Deus Ex is coming in 2 weeks, no way I'm paying full price for a game that is basically a 1:1 PS4 port with a lot of performance problems.
