No, that's not what I mean. I mean the way it appears to be rendered is odd. As in it looks like there's an issue with the mipmap bias, kinda like Witcher 3 when it was released:

Note the lack of detail on the foliage on the left, even though the textures are identical.

I saw that image and instantly thought, OMG- they really improved the foliage in this new patch! Then realized you were talking about Witcher 3. lol.

New beta branch. Forced AF and quality settings and adaptive vsync through nvidia control panel. On latest 370 something drivers. Everything in game maxed out.
Game runs great at 60 fps at 1080p.
There are split second drops to 40s when near planets and that's about it. Yet to enter space combat.

I'm totally unable to play the game with mouse and keyboard. If I touch any key on the keyboard my mouse immediately loses control, the cursor goes to the edge of the screen and its hard to get it to move anywhere. I can barely get it to click exit to desktop after a few minutes of struggling.

I tried to access the new beta build but there is nothing listed in the beta tab dropdown, I've opted into the Steam betas. Edit: ahh the beta access code "3xperimental" had to be entered, I'll give it a shot.

I have yet to try it, but check this mod out!

INTERNAL RESOLUTION MULTIPLIERS

From the comments on the mod site:

It's actually better than DSR, because you can set all deferred render targets to the scale of the in-game, full screen resolution. If you don't use this mod, and use DSR instead, then some of the render targets will still be scaled lower than the set resolution, and you'll get more jaggies than you normally would at your DSR resolution.

Performance is now night and day on my system, which is:

i7 3820 @ 4.5 ghz
16 gb ddr3
Gtx 970 SLI.

I was around 40-50 fps at 2560x1600 before, and now I am always between 70 and 90. I've even see some 100s. Stuttering seems to have eased as well.

Fwiw, I am using the newly released nvidia driver, plus the 3xperimental Version on steam. My standard gpu overclocks are holding just fine. Enabled vsync to eliminate screen tear.

now.......excuse me while I fly around space and look at shit.

Sounds like I need to get this patch.

So the DoF filter in the game is the true culprit for everything looking blurry or the resolution not looking like it's supposed to. Someone modded it out.

I just tried it and it improves the clarity massively, though I'm still on release patch so I don't know if they removed it for the experimental one.

I don't understand this stuff... You've got people earlier in this thread saying the exact opposite, that things have either stayed the same or gotten worse. I don't know who to believe, but it's hard to imagine this substantial an amount of variability.

I want to download this stuff, but I also don't want to have to roll back drivers if it doesn't work. Perhaps I'd be better off waiting a week.

Yup, this is the patch you probably want though as it gets rid of more:

http://nomansskymods.com/mods/chromatic-aberration-vignetting-scan-lines-removal/

Yeah I installed that one first, it's great too but it doesn't just magically clear up everything like the DoF mod does. That stuff mainly sits at the top of the screen as well.

I haven't tried the upscaling mod or down scaling the game, but I don't see the point now for me since it looks how it's supposed to now without taking a performance hit. I just wished it was out earlier since I'm not really playing as much.

NMS has been running well for me since the experimental branch was released, so anything to improve image quality is a godsend.

Luckily, you can always try, and if it doesn't help you, you can revert. I've noticed most people who are the most pleased with the patch/driver are the folks using SLI.

The Ultra SSAA x 4 is definitely up to snuff with the latest experimental patch. Made me take a huge hit in frame rate, more than I expected though. May just be a placebo effect, but I swear the image quality looks clearer too. Less blur/haze. I was only able to test inside a space station though. Still at work.

Wow the beta patch did wonders for me, I increased graphic options and framerate is better
without stuttering and freezes

The newest patch also helped me out a bit. There's no more stuttering and hitching. Its really smooth now, but I'm still getting very low FPS. I'm running with everything at high (except shadows @ medium) and FXAA on. I don't typically like FXAA, but its just a bit too jagged without it and SSAA tanks my frame rates (low 20s). I get between 35-40 on average, which is what I got before for the most part, but now I'm seeing it jump all the way to the low 50s depending on where I am on my starting planet, which definitely wasn't happening before. It certainly looks a lot better now too. Thank goodness for FreeSync though, or the fluctuating frame rates would be giving me a headache.

So I was having major issues the last few days, intro running at 1fps and then the game running at 15-22 fps.

I re-installed the game a few times, changed every setting, deleted settings, the works.

Then I tried rolling back my AMD drivers to the pre NMS ones, and the game is back to 45-60 fps.

No idea why the new NMS specific drivers would cause this issue, but all that matters is it's working.

Can you keep your save if you switch branch to the experimental?

Also wow, the game is pretty much unplayable since I updated the NVIDIA drivers. I had a stable 60fps yesterday and now I get dips in the low tens and even -10 fps.

Edit: Ok so after a reboot the game is much better now so that's fine... AA still doesn't work tho...

You can install multiple mods, right? Do they each have to be "last" in load order, or are they fine as long as they load after everything else?

I dumped 3 mods in there without any regard to load order and they loaded up fine. All 3 had a _ straight out of the zip file, so I'm thinking as long as that's there, they'll load at the time they need to.

That mod just made the game look tons better, thank you!

Even at medium settings, this mod makes it look so much better. Also, also installing the new NVidia drivers, the game is much smoother and the UI is much more snappier/quick.

Now I just need to either find the atlas pass or finally ditch my first planet..haven't left yet for hours of gameplay now..this game is addicting.

So this game crashed my display driver (Nvidia 372.54) and my 1st GPU stays stuck at 540 Mhz until I restart my computer.

Not sure if this is a No Man's Sky bug or a Driver Bug or both.

Well shit. After grabbing the latest experimental update along with the Nvidia drivers on my GTX 970m laptop the game now runs at a locked 60 in 1080p with medium/high settings. Yesterday I could barely hit 45 in 900p with low settings. I deleted the shadercache along with the NCP profile I created for NMS and went back to only using in-game settings. I'm impressed/suspicious that I'll find something terrible any moment.

Edit: After increasing all settings to High and unlocking framerate I'm now sitting at a consistent 100fps. What black magic is this.

Oh I just realised. With the new experiemental patch should I be resetting my NCP settinfs and using in game ones or what?

Any tried to see the difference?

I bought it on GOG so I don't have access to the experimental patch but I was getting good performance with minor stutters. Just installed the new NVIDIA "optimized drivers" and it stutters like crazy now. I hope they release the real patch soon.

So I just updated my Nvidia drivers to the No Man's Sky game ready version and suddenly I'm getting horrible stuttering and occasional freezes I wasn't getting on the previous version. While it did seem to improve my average FPS while running around, it also just had the stutters and stuff which I didn't have before despite a lower average FPS, like it wasn't great but it was consistent.

Against better judgment I bought NMS. Should I update to the latest Nvidia drivers? I'm currently on 368.81. Heard the latest ones are spotty.

The new driver fucked my shit up. Before I didn't have a problem, I getting +80 fps a majority of the time with little to no stuttering. Now I'm getting around 50 with a lot of dips and stuttering plus freezes. I'm going to try the beta patch and see if it fixes it.

Beta patch fixed the stuttering and freezing, however my fps is still significantly lower with the new driver. I mean the game is playable, I'm averaging around 50. It's just annoying because I was getting so much more before.

Initially apprehensive to try on the experimental patch, but after an hour or so's playing time on an flora/fauna-rich planet, it's been mostly smooth as butter. Still a few frame drops here and there on low altitude flight, but nowhere near as bad as before.

(Also running on latest Nvidia driver for 970)

Are you using SSAA? I'm asking because that option wasn't working before the patch so there was no frame rate loss. Now it's working and as expected from SSAA4x it has a massive impact on frame rates.

Nah, I was just using FXAA before.

I also had my first crash just now after 12 hours of never having issues.

Anyone else having issues saving their progress?

Even if it says "Restore points saved" in-game, I'm losing my progress every time I restart the game.
