No Mans Sky | PC Performance Thread

I'm running:
I7 950 @ 4Ghz
GTX 980 stock
8GB RAM.

All graphics maxed,1080p im getting a mostly solid 60fps, with a bit of stuttering when flying around.

It looks great and plays great so far, IMO. The only annoying thing is textures loading in.

Very happy so far, cant wait to explore more.

Sucks for people who say its unplayable. Pretty great on my rig

Sean really should have spent less time talking about the game in interviews. That time could have been spent elsewhere.

Then again the game is an absolute smash of a hit on PS4.

Other funny thing:

Sensitivity settings does not seem to affect mouse at all, but FPS does. Locking it to 30FPS gives a much better sensitivity.

Also I assume the reason people have success with enabling vsync through the nvidia control panel is that it reduces the number of times the game hits 100% CPU usage. Hitching got much better when I limited the game to 30FPS, though didn't disappear. (And if I wanted to play at 30FPS I would just play at a PS4)

Are the resolution options broken? Also seriously wtf at having to restart to turn on/off vsync. When has that ever been a thing?

yeah, that shit is ridiculous. watchhing hasney's stream at first and it was saying he had to restart just changing the resolution and even the fullscreen/windowed/windowed borderless options. fucked.

I'd better pick this game up so I can play Bloodborne on PC at 60fps.

Magic.

Stealth Neo release? No wonder people were excited.

Seems like it's running fine on certain machines, but the common thread between those machines is not yet clear. I'm debating buying and refunding if necessary, but the other part of me just wants to wait until they fix it and lower the price so I can get a quality start. It'll ruin the experience if I have to spend significant time troubleshooting and changing ini files or patching, kind of takes away the charm IMO.

And don't you dare alt+tab, or it crashes!

Well, first one took down my entire system, second only crashed the game at least. Small mercies...

Definitely was launched fresh out of the cooker.

This reads like we got someone's local build and not even something from a build server. I mean I know they are a small team but they at least have a build server, right?

So even enthusiast cards are shit? I've only done a quick search for 980 ti and found one other use but lots of older cards/rigs. Even with Arkham Asylum I was able to brute force some good performance in the early days with the game just crashing at a whim. If this game isn't a crashfest I might just try and download it later and see what it's like.

The issue is obviously high CPU usage during terrain generation.

Is the movement and turning speed super shitty for anyone else using a wired 360 controller? I have it cranked up and I still turn and look super slow.

During the BBC tour it was literally one room, with 12 people in it, with a door out onto a high street in Guildford. They're a tiny tiny team. Great game thou.

980ti, 6700k @ 4.1Ghz, maxed out at 1440p. It stutters a lot at first, then smooths out, but going over hills where it has to draw more stuff or getting in and out of a ship causes more stutter.

Go from about 9:15 on this video when I was streaming it to see for yourself and see if it's bareable (that's when it stopped alt+tab crashing and restarting for video options!)

I'm really disappointed in everything I'm hearing, but I'm buying this anyway. This whole cycle from announcement to release has been too intriguing not to see what the fuss is about. And I have hopes they will do their damndest to make it better.

I'm seeing reports of FPS across the board with various CPU's, I've got a 3770k/980ti, but there's better machines showing bad results, and worse machines showing good ones. Seems like it'd be cut and dry if it was directly related to CPU speed.

I feel like my starting planet must just have nothing taxing on it because after 30-40 minutes I'm not getting any stuttering at all maxing the game out w/ SMAAx4 on a 2500K and GTX 1060 at 1080P. TotalBiscuit's significantly more powerful machine wasn't even getting the performance I'm getting when I was watching and he wasn't even using AA.

The game does say I'm not connected to the online servers somehow though. I have no idea why (Steam version).

haha yep that's about right when i joined. crazy thing is it seemed to really clean up for you after that. stuttering flying around the planets for sure but it was running nicely in space and walking around on a planets surface. had to log off the stream tho so i'm not sure if you ended up having any more issues.

I have to wonder how many of these issues are due to outdated drivers and/or possibly AMD cards because I really don't have anything special going on (besides my video card) and my game was running fine after basically just disabling VSYNC @ 2560 x 1440 no less. I locked the framerate @ 60.

I know this is not really PC "performance" per se, but has anyone tried out Cheat Engine yet? With everything being local for the most part, should be pretty easy to edit your currency or inventory...

Doesn't run too terrible on my system or though the way the game looks it should run a lot smoother than it currently is......my god the texture quality is shocking!!!

Stutter is the main issue. High core CPU's are not having that much of an issue. I'm talking 4930k/5930k/6900k etc.

Performance on the first planet was awesome, now landed on the second planet (which looks a lot cooler) but slowdowns everywhere.

Is anyone using an XB1 controller? No matter what i set the ingame sensitivity to, it stays the same. Moving around in circular movements is slow and clunky. Definitely some smoothing issues.

I'd use M+KB, but ship control is terrible.

Yeah, it's fine tabbing out in Borderless.

Fullscreen though? When I try to tab back in it says something about lacking a licence...

Er... never mind. I restarted the game to see if there was something wrong with my starting planet (How the hell do I craft those sheets?), and on this new planet, my framerate isn't staying at sixty. Sigh.

Did this game completely drop out of the top sellers list?
http://store.steampowered.com/search/?filter=topsellers
Can't see it there anymore. Used to be the top.

Probably a mass of refunds took it from that spot?

I'm guessing Steam bug. You literally cannot search it in that list now.

Yeah, pretty much held up for the duration. Going over hills and coming in and out of the ship stutters but that was about it.

To craft the sheets, go to a free slot in your inventory and hit E. Confused me for a bit too.

Makes a lot of sense based on the people saying the performance is shit/fine. It all depends on your starting planet I guess.
