No Post Convention Bounce for Trump

Just ignore them. You vote how you want for your own reasons.

I'm not voting for Trump but the lefts anger at anyone who doesn't vote the way they want someone to is rather annoying. The Albatross' post earlier today is a great summary of what is going on.

Normally I would agree with you. I remember when it was bush v gore and I how much I didn't want bush to win.

But this is different. Bush isn't an outright racist. As a minority I am worried that a trump presidency will further embolden racists to act out. I mean, if the president is saying all Mexicans are rapists, keep all Muslims out etc etc how do you think his followers are gonna act?

I feel like I gotta say something now while I still can.

Welp, got here to post about how this is clearly a spin and Trump had at least a small convention bump.

But man, things got gross in here quick.

Yes, Trump is probably racist. No a black Trump supporter is probably not an Uncle Tom, nor should you stoop that low so quickly.

I'm out.

The worst possible way to attack a candidate that you believe is racist is to come out and lump all of his supporters as racists. All it does is solidify their support of the candidate they prefer.

Trump has come out and complained about the PC culture and the belief that this country has gone soft with Safe Spaces and the like. If someone is running on a platform against PC culture the worst thing you can do is come out with the dog whistle and run around yelling "Racist". All this does is validate his supporters concerns around the direction of the country.

Until the left realizes that yelling racist does not discourage his supporters but actually validates their concerns and his statements about the country we won't see any decrease in his support.

If the left wants to beat Trump they need to realize that painting him and all his supporters are racist is the worst possible angle. It emboldens his supporters and allows his opponents to pay themselves on the back but doesn't move any undecideds.

Please America, learn from our EU referendum. See what mistakes were made that allowed insanity and stupidity triumph over logic and reason. Don't be complacent and make a mistake as big as Brexit.

I disagree.

A duck is a duck in my book, and I'm calling em out as soon as I can. I beleive in equality, and I am not gonna keep quiet about it.

And I want undecideds to know that trump is a racist and sexist. That should be enough for them to decide not to vote for him.

Yelling that someone is a racist or a sexist never changes a third parties opinion on them. The third party will make their own decision based on how they perceive that person.

i would hope that the average undecided American PERCEIVES that trump has racist views and that would be enough for them to decided against voting for him.

I dunno maybe I'm wrong but I would like to think I'm not.

He had a good speech. Worked the mic well.

Gotta watch out for the debates, he's gonna be pugnacious and probably fare well.

Except that this isn't about left and right anymore. Trump isn't even really conservative. He's a racist, sexist demagogue who has created a bubble of supporters who don't care about things like facts.

Why is it always up to everyone else to convince people not to support a platform built on hate and fear?

Fucking wake up and be accountable for yourself. If they really are afraid of scary Mexican rapists and Muslims just waiting to blow them up and that is how they want to live then shut the fuck up already. Just go crouch in the corner of your garage and suck your thumb.

It is not everyone else's job to convince them that the dangers in this country are everywhere else and right in front of them. Facts are right there. They are not hard to find. It is just easier to be scared.

He'll have to prove he's capable of holding an actual debate, or even the appearance of a debate. Given what I've seen of him so far that remains to be seen. The GOP primary debates were of an entirely different nature than a GE debate. He's not trying to be heard as the loudest voice among seventeen, and he can't just drop an outrageous line and wait for applause/jeers to fill the rest of his allotted time.

Furthermore, I wonder if he's disciplined enough to go through the ringer of hours of practice debates with his team, studying, being coached, being groomed, being bored, or even being told he's wrong. I wonder if he has it in him. He, who has apparently never read a book in his adult life.

Peeps really hang onto the difference between being a racist or being in support of a candidate who is racist or being in support of a candidate who is in support of a racist system.

When there really is virtually no difference between any of those.

If that story about not reading a book in his adult life is true then there's no way he's disciplined enough to debate practice for Hillary. He'll go in it playing his game whether that nets him votes or not.

Problems with voting for Trump extends even past the racist, xenophobic shit that he has said throughout his campaign. His he has no relevant experience and will be a disaster from a foreign policy stand point.

Other than the Trump supporters that are morons, I usually give people the benefit of the doubt and assume that they've been living under a rock when they declare that they may be voting Trump. How much stupid shit does it take for him for a reasonably educated person to understand that he's not qualified to be at the highest office in the United States?

I'm angered at how many stupid, weak minded people are in this country. I'm not a fan of Hilary, but this is an easy choice to make between the two. Another issue I see is that people are already makingup their mind about Hillary, so it doesn't matter what she says or does. Any poor decisions she's made will be compounded with false accusations and conspiracies from the that will make her look worse. This doesn't fair well for the weak-minded. There are plenty of negatives against Hillary, but right now it's too easy for people in the media to start making shit up and people eating it.

I wish people in this country would focus more on facts and apply some critical thinking. I always wish that they would obtain the understanding that they know very little about how the world and the economic system works, but at least attempt to grasp macroeconomics on a basic level. Also, at least use something like polifact as a resource...my God.

you should be.

That was the point of my post.

Now that I have your attention, please explain what it is about trumps platform that appeals to you?
I've spent so many days in politic threads and never once have I seen this question answered. Gee I wonder what appealing about a dude who has no policy but says a lot of stupid ass racist and xenophobic shit on an hourly basis. Trump has said NOTHING that would apply to the role of being president, he's a fucking idiot.

If you vote for Trump you are supporting a racist agenda.

Fact.

Not being racist but purposely appealing to racists kind of makes very little difference

I'm starting to think Trump could actually win this.

A lot of people really like Trump. A lot of people really hate Clinton.

I still don't understand why so many Americans don't understand all these points. They can spin it any way they like, but it all comes down to xenophobia and worse, the actual manipulation of the lower passions. Trump exploits it like a conman. Divide and conquer the sheep indeed, Mr Trump. And then he picks Pence.

Good thing the math makes it mandatory for Trump to win a few key states, but it is ridiculous he actually has a sliver of a chance.

On top of the whole racism thing, Trump is running on that extremely hateful and backward platform that is basically going to send gay rights back a decade or more, among other things.

I mean, I'm not American so maybe I'm misunderstanding this. I know you vote for the candidate but surely what they represent also comes into play? Just because you think Trump is an "OK guy", how can you endorse the stuff he's supposedly going to try and push through?

So as a non-American, do you guys just pick a side somewhere in your teens and vote for that one until you die? Is that what is going on? Because from what I saw, Trump is both completely incompetent and poised to be the scariest president ever based on his general campaigning so far.

I refuse to believe half of American voters actually want a guy like that as president, so all I can imagine is people just pick a "home team" and stick with regardless and it doesn't really matter who the person that runs for president is. I mean, they could elect a goat as their representative and people would vote for the goat as POTUS as long as it was a Republican goat, right? That is what going on?

In my mothers side, my great grandfather told them all to always vote republican. My mother cites this as the reasoning for why she always votes republican.

Just because you think Trump is an "OK guy", how can you endorse the stuff he's supposedly going to try and push through?

What other word(s) would you use to describe a Trump supporter? I'm having a hard time coming up with any...

People vote against their own interests because they have been brainwashed by the Republican brand, by Fox news, by the worst their ideologies and religions have to offer.
People thus have become witless, weak-minded, zombies, unintelligent, incapable of lucid reasoning, incapable of critical thinking, incapable of compassion, incapable of understanding. Democrats are guilty of self-serving interest too, in some of their policies, but nowhere near the current batch of people chanting "Lock her up!"
Putin's pet is doing well.

A lot of people voted for Bush because he was a guy they'd "have a beer with"

I'm really not worried. Compare the RNC and DNC these last two weeks. This will carry on through November, debates and the like. I am confident sanity will prevail and minorities will turn out in record numbers to stop Donald Trump

Excuse you, for telling me or anyone else, to "sit down."

None of those quotes get me riled up in the least. Sure, he has said some non PC shit, but I don't think the guy actually dislikes black people. He says alot of the things black people say about other black people, or any other race for that matter. Regardless of that, I prefer him in general to Hillary.

No offense but you seem pretty ignorant as to why his specific statements coming from this specific person are problematic for race relations in the United States.

Unless you think there's absolutely no perception problems between the black population and the white majority. Whether or not he personally believes the racially charged shit he spits is irrelevant. People who ARE racist buy into it and begin to think this is reality.

"omg people don't agree with me with my political choice!! you're racist and ignorant!!!!"

Alright, I've had enough of this foolishness. Trump is a literal authoritarian racist white nationalist, this is the absolute that his voters and supports need to grasp. Go through this entire list and if you still support the man, you've made a case that you are perfectly okay with this and thus you are ignorant, a bigot, and/or privilaged as fuck. There is nothing redeemable about Trump, nothing. His policies are non existent and his rhetoric is some of the most vile, inhumane, and idiotic shit ever spouted by a presidential candidate.

You too, read the list. This is nowhere near "non-PC shit", the man is a literal threat.

Hypocritical motherfuckers.

him and univariate for posting the other. I don't know why that shit is cool on GAF.

I don't recall mentioning I was voting for Trump. I'm registered as a Democrat.

I'd still like to hear a trump supporters response

I don't think you will find any on this site, when Reps. get dogpiled to shit as it happened on this thread for example and are actively being booted of the site for the slighest "wrong opinion",

Just a small correction and clarification; I mean you as in anyone hypothetically voting for Trump, not you as in you, the individual.
