About

Kaname Date and the AI-Ball, Aiba tackle a mysterious case and rescue Iris, an internet idol who has been forced to take part in a dangerous escape game.

Examine crime scenes and listen to testimonies in "Investigation". Enter the dream worlds of suspects and key witnesses in "Somnium". Solve puzzles to break out of locked rooms in the new "Escape" sections.

By moving between these three sections, obtain the necessary clues to solve the case.

Story

A day after The New Cyclops Serial Killings was resolved, internet idol Iris Sagan (known as "A-set") is abducted by a UFO and forced to participate in a perilous escape game called The Third Eye Game.

Meanwhile, in another part of the city, a mysterious device is discovered. It resembles a coffin, and attached to it is a note that reads:

"Psync me"

Relying on a tenuous line of communication with the missing Iris, one man rises once again, determined to track down the UFO that should not even exist.

Together with his partner, the AI-Ball Aiba, he sets out on a quest. That man...is Special Agent Kaname Date.

Wow, absolutely buying this. I couldn't believe that the 2nd one even got green-lit and now we are getting a 3rd! These games are a fantastic mix of mystery, suspense and humor.

The fact is Switch and PC players are much more open to point & click adventure games compare to PlayStation players.
Yeah, It's a shame though. It should be on as many platforms as possible.

A friend of mine played both games on PS4/PS5, so I know he'll be a bit annoyed that he needs to play this new AI: Somnium Files game on a different platform than his preferred one (he loves trophies a bit too much so he plays everything, including VNs, point & click adventures on PS5 even though he has a PC and Switch as well).

I'm just glad I can get it on PC and continue to never use my Switch.

eeeh, I might bite but at a very very low price.
Liked the first. Decently liked the second. But third really looks like too much of the same to me, especially with these premises...

Haven't played one but I think it's time to... looks great and all but I'm not always in the mood for slow paced games and visual novels

There are games that I buy and don't have time to play. This may be one of them, but I'm super proud to be able to support games like this either way. Don't look at your backlog with shame. Look at it as how you have voted with your wallet. Your backlog helped shape the games that come out today and tomorrow. Your money is reinvested back into making great games. Here's one of them.

The first game in the series is currently on sale on Switch and PSN for $4.99, so if you enjoy adventure games, you can't go wrong at that price.

The game picks up very quickly, and it doesn't really get boring on any of the routes (I think it took me around 25-30 hours to complete all the routes).

The only thing that might put you off are the puzzles you'll encounter throughout the game, which are called somniums. These have a time limit to complete, and as you progress and finish the routes, they become progressively more difficult.

The story itself and the characters (especially the main character, Date) are cool and well written (the VO is good as well), as you would expect from an Uchikoshi written and directed game.

P.S. There are also a lot of dirty jokes in the game which for me made the overall experience even better. :p

I love the interaction of AI eyeball and Date, so I'll be playing this.

But before that I'll have to tackle the 2nd game first.

Cool. I took a chance on the first one despite having 0 interest in visual novels, and I loved it.
Same, I went in blind somehow not even realizing it was a VN but ended up loving it. Still haven't played the second one but I have an Xbox copy. Shame this is missing PS/Xbox, I hope that's just a timed thing.

Steam Deck, Switch and other handheld PCs allow players to read visual novels like someone would read a book outdoor in a park or on a train. Not to mention PC and Switch players are more open towards non-AAA games, unlike Playstation players.

Pre-orders are up. Physical versions for both NSW and NSW2, but it looks like the latter will be a game key cart... so I guess I'll be going with the NSW physical on this one.

I have a feeling a lot of publishers will be going with game-key cards on Switch 2 to save money, which sucks for physical collectors

It's amazing the bullshit you come up with on a regular basis.

I shall enjoy this. Happy that, for the time being at least, Spike Chunsoft sees AI as one of the franchises it's worth consistently investing in. Makes sense they'd do a spinoff while Uchikoshi is busy literally writing 99 full fledged plot relevant routes for Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy. Supposing that doesn't kill him maybe he'll have some ideas left for AI3.

Also, watching the pre-release material for this game is kind of making me lose my mind, or perhaps activating my third eye. All of the overt references to Zero Escape are starting to feel like more than just homage...

The cover art for both the game and the OST was done by Yusuke Kozaki, who also created the cover art for the previous games.

Definitely buying this, definitely not buying a FUCKING GAME KEY CARD though.

I hope they have an upgrade path for the Switch 1 version.

It will be one of my first games that I will buy on Nintendo switch 2
My bro, keep in mind that the Switch 2 version is a game key cart. I suggest going with the Switch 1 version, since you actually get the game on the cart.

If you don't care about that, then go with the NSW2 key cart version I guess.

Edit: As for me, I already have the previous two AI Somnium Files games on Switch 1, so the choice is easy. I want the version that comes with the game on the actual cart and I don't care all that much for whatever improvements they've added in the NSW2 version (I'll consider buying an upgrade pack if there's one available though).

Also, they cut the cover in the Nintendo Switch 2 version.

I got almost the same games 😃

As a video game expert, I suspect the physical version will be released on PS5.

We just have to wait for the Nintendo Switch 2 hype.

To avoid Keycard and buy the ps5 versión....

Hypothetically.

Why is there a Switch 2 version?

Switch 2 is backwards compatible, and to my knowledge this game doesn't have improved assets or performance on Switch 2 right?

What they're going to do is lower the resolution, frame rate, and cause poor performance... This is what happens when a new generation of consoles arrives.

This was the case in the Xbox 360 era, with Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, where they suspiciously made a poor version for the original Xbox.
